Abstract:
Up to this point in time, complex mixtures of tertiary sulfonium ions have been separated or analyzed employing conventional methods like HPLC or NMR procedures. In this thesis the researcher presents a new approach, the use of Capillary Zone Electrophoresis (CZE) for the analysis of these types of ions as well as the closely related thiophenium ions. CZE offers an unprecedented advantage in that separations can be employed for speciation or quantitation of complex mixtures by using the appropriate standards or specific detectors. For the study, model sulfonium and thiophenium ions were used t

Alkylaryl sulfoxides possess a chiral sulfur atom easily identifiable by capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE). With current free-flow zone electrophoresis (FFZE) technology, particles can be separated if their mobilities differ by more than 5%, at throughputs ranging between 10⁸ and 10⁹ cells/hr. A mathematical model was developed, which led to a chamber design that amplifies the peak-to-peak distance between sample components δ over five times; a mode of operation that virtually eliminates artifactual dispersio

SCFAs have attracted much attention recently because of their positive physiological effects. SCFAs can be used to as indicator for intestinal health with regard to they can lower colonic pH, which is thought to protect against cancer of the colon by reducing the bioavailability of toxic amines. Therefore, it is necessary to development high efficiently quantitative method for SCFAs. Capillary electrophoresis is a well-developed technology for materials separation in the past f

Their catalysis provides the precursors needed for both synthesis and repair of DNA, so their activity is closely linked with chemotherapy of viral infection or cancer. The traditional enzyme assays of TK, TMPK, and RR are quite complicated, and need more sample. In order to develop non-radioactive assays for enzymes involved in nucleotide metabolism, this work focused on separation of nucleotides by capillary zone electr

In order to increase the mobility difference of dCDP and CDP, we added hydroxypropyl-α-cyclodextrin (HP-α-CD) and phenylboronic acid into the background electrolyte (BGE). The hydrophobic inter
