Full textIn environmental law, the study of the legal framework applicable to industrial platforms which bring together in the same location severa related activities under distinct legal entities shows the weaknesses of the Environmental French Integrated Regulation applicable to "installations classées" when these run multiple operations. In fact two overlapping legal frameworks apply to these facilities : a private law framework resulting from the various contracts concluded between the parties and a public law framework due to the application of regulations pertaining to classified industrial facilities characterized by both the status of the operator and the operating unit. These aspects hinder an effective environmental protection, particularly when environmental risks are assessed and prevented which should be both a collective and individual endeavour. These difficulties are found again when soils have to be rehabilitated once exploitation has ceased. The ways industrialists face these legal weaknesses are therefore a learning experience

Full textOffshore manufacturing units were been established in less developed countries, often in the export processing zones, since the mid-1960s. In this way, multinational enterprises made operations, like assembly; then products are exported into industrialized economies. Based on samples of firms from garment and electronics industries, this study turns on the competitive advantage and the key success factors for offshore manufacturing, the location decision process and the environmental variables which are taking into account, the control and the production organization of plants. Not surprisingly, cost reduction appears to be the main objective. In most enterprises, this competitive advantage refers to reactive behavior. Nevertheless, characteristics of proactive strategy are perceptible in some cases

Full textIn suburban areas today, two generations of economics sites are juxtaposed. On the one hand, there are industrial or activity zones (ZI or ZA) conceived without any landscape consideration during the thirty gloriouls years. On the other hand, there are the very neatly composed activity parks or technoparks born in the eighties. Both of these concepts are considered in a simpliscic manner. Although their economic use is clearly understood, ZIand ZA are considered as landscape 'heresies' unlike parks or technoparks which are considered almost as landscape 'amenities'. This work attempts to understand and go beyond these alternatives. One part will analyse the origin of the ZI and ZA concept. This reflection will lead us to see how they seem to be censored in the public eye but also how some may become an aesthetic medium and thus embody a kind of landscaping poetry. Another part will present conditions necessary for the creation and the development and look at the debatable enthousiasm behind it. Some firms are able to generate a genuinely creative expression, whereas others simply lead to new industrial recipes which threaten to become 'common' landscapes

Full textThe thesis is structured in three parts and discusses export processing zones in developing countries. In the first part, sereval surveys are presented to develop our understanding of the use of the concept of the free zone ( philippines, mauritius, mexico, hong-kong, china ). The second part - theoretical - sums up the whole analysis of international trade, from the classicis to the most modern thinkers, making a connection with models integrating the free zone approach ( hamada, grubel, rodriguez ). The third and last point is devoted to the historical and present development of asian countries as well as the textile and electronics industries which are essential for epz, for asia and the third world in general. The conclusion recapitulates the main points and attempts an evaluation of epz effects : although useful, they are not sufficient to develop the third world countries

Full textThis dissertation analyzes the economic and environmental impacts of industrialization in the Seine estuary (France) with the aim to understand and asses the terms of the trade-off between the productive and the non-productive uses of a specific environmental asset : the wetlands in the Seine estuary. The study emphasizes the role of natural resources in explaining the specificities of the industrial stucture in estuary. The natural resource-based specificities present an important economic impact in terms of employment and relations with all the local economic actitvities. But negative environmental externalities also associated with these activities. These externalities slow down the requalifiction of this territory whose capacity to create employment is limited. A monetary valuation of wetlands, based on a contingent valuation study conducted in the estuary, reveals the paradoxical situation of the wetlands in the estuary. The estimated value that inhabitants place on their preservation (520 € / ha / year) is higher than preservation and management costs (400 € /ha / year) but much lower than the economic benefits derived from their conversion for industrial use (180 000 € / ha / year)

Full textThe thesis addresses the overarching challenge of enhancing the long-term general resilience of the peri-urban territory located on the right bank of the lower Var Valley (06), spanning from Le Broc to Saint-Laurent-du-Var. This area encompasses diverse functions such as housing, agriculture, industry, and natural spaces, all coexisting without functional interrelation. Economic activity zones play a predominant role in this landscape, with the Carros industrial zone alone hosting 600 companies and providing 10,000 jobs. This territory has been rightly considered for several decades as a strategically important area, as indicated by the Regional Land Use Plan (DTA) of Alpes-Maritimes and the Plaine du Var Urban Development Project (OIN Eco-vallée). In reality, it is subjected to intense, difficult-to-regulate urban pressure, particularly affecting agricultural spaces. Moreover, industrial parks present a paradox as they are both dynamic and aging. However, initiatives undertaken inside the industrial parks, such as the approach to industrial and territorial ecology, are typically conducted independently in each park, with little or no connection to neighboring spaces. Conversely, these industrial areas are aging, facing increasing land scarcity and constraints, and landscape quality is neglected. The dynamics of change are further constrained by strong regulatory pressures related to various risks (flooding, fire, technological). The thesis takes the stance that the organization of built and non-built spaces represents an untapped potential for environmental and territorial resilience. The entire right bank of the Var is structured as a nesting of interfaces at different scales: built/non-built; urban/agricultural; agricultural/urban/natural; urban/natural; and agricultural/natural. These spaces harbor substantial potential, especially considering that local economic players view them merely as opportunities to expand economic activities. Instead, these spaces could be perceived and utilized innovatively to enhance the territory economically, socially, and environmentally by creating "recycled landscapes". Implementing such developments not only contributes to the overall ecological enhancement of the territory but also enhances its socio-economic aspects by improving quality of work life and internal functioning, promoting, for instance, soft mobility

Full textThe development of Industrial and Business Parks (IBP) is a major stake for the communities because of the creation of job and the financial contribution by taxes. In order to face the problems met in the IBP functionning and the impact which they have on theirs urban and natural environment, local authorities react and adopt environmental tools. Most of those tools focus on the management of the IBP. That's why we then proposed a method and tools enabling developers to make decisions in a sustainable way from the upstream stage of the creation of an IBP. The method and the tools aim at performing a diagnosis of the site chosen for the projects implantation. This diagnosis is carried out on the basis of a sustainable development indicators system. It purpose consist of revealing the strong and weak element of the site with regard to the project. The analysis of the result of the diagnosis points out relevant information for decision-making and for working out of the goal setting brief. The method is also leads to the analysis of the adequacy of the project with the site as well: choose a site for the project, choose an economical activity for the site (industry, trade, …)

Full textSince the Đôi Moi (Renovation) reforms initiated in 1986, the Hô Chi Minh City region plays a fundamental role in the economic development of Vietnam. Owning one-third of Vietnam’s industrial parks, the four most developed provinces of Hô Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Đông Nai and Ba Ria Vung Tau form the largest urban-industrial pole in the south of Vietnam. Under the effects of the globalized industrialization, the suburban areas of the Hô Chi Minh City region are rapidly transforming, from the construction of multiples real estates projects and new cities to the development of new regional infrastructures. This thesis aims to decipher the synergy between industrialization, spontaneous urbanization and mega urban projects, as well as the interdependent relationship between localities and between different stakeholders. From local authorities to private real-estate developers, stakeholders adopt new negotiation methods and breaking-fence tactics, which leads to the creation of multiples public-private alliances in urban-industrial development. Contributing to the creation of new development pole, the metropolization intensified the competition between emerging provinces and Hô Chi Minh City, which reinforces the polycentric trend of regional construction. If the diversified metropolitan strategies adopted by the provincial authorities commonly lead to landscape transformation and functional redeployment, the competition between Hô Chi Minh City and the neighboring provinces generates multiples territorial fragmentation, socio-economic inequalities and environmental problems

Full textThe development of batam, an indonesian island with a 415 km2 area, located at 20 km southeast of singapore, started in the earlier 1970's and was aimed to compete with singapore as the economic capital of the southeast asia region. But at the end of 1980's, the batam's economic development was integrated with singapore's in the economic cooperation of growth triangle of singapore, johor et riau (more famous as +sijori;). The goal of this cooperation is to promote the regional economic development by a transborder cooperation. The integration of batam on the growth triangle of sijori is a very efficient means to promote the development of the island, that is shown by: the increase of private investment, the creation of jobs in industrial, tourism and services sectors, the fast rising of the growth regional product (grp), of the value of exports, of the tourist number and of the number of migrants to the island. This fast urban increasing has the following side effects : the crisis of housing for the poors, the crisis of urban transportation and the shortage of clean water. Because of the shift between the rate of jobs creation and the rate of immigration, unemployment increased. The problem of unemployment leads to the growing number of crimes and offenses. From the urbanisme point of view, the integration of batam in the sijori growth triangle caused the transformation of the urban structure of batam. At the regional scale, the sijori growth triangle economic cooperation placed batam in two hierarchical systems of development: the growth triangle which is the most important and riau islands inner the indonesian national teritory at the second rank. Each system is connected to the economic policy from which a specific spatial policy is drawn up. The sijori growth triangle plans the region as an economic pole at global scale, with singapore as a regional center, meanwhile the riau islands are projected by the indonesian goverment to become an industrial pole integrated to the growth triangle and batam island to be a regional center in indonesia

Full textWe are interested in the question of the interactions between the actors located in a geographical agglomeration of the industrial-port zone (ZIP) type, thus triggering processes of cooperation and construction of territorial organization networks. According to this reasoning, we are interested in works that seek to trace the emergence of concepts of proximity economics and territorial governance. We will take into account approaches to reaffirm the value of interactions and the territorial dimension on economic activities. We start from the observation that "the propensity to interact with others is a fundamental characteristic of man" (Fujita and Thisse, 2003, p.25). Thus, we share with Bourdeau-Lepage and Huriot (2009) the idea that proximity reflects the greater or lesser ease of entering into a relationship, and therefore of interacting

Full textThis thesis has been designed to be used as a tool to support the contracting authority with decisions in connection with allocating the economic activities and sharing the dedicated space between firms in the Erbajolo zone in Bastia. Work was conducted in a professional environment, within the SEM Bastia Amenagement which is in charge of the conduct of marketing procedure. Unlike traditional approaches which give priority to firms – households interactions, we assign the location of companies within the economic activity zone to a specific development agent (in this case to a mixed economy company (SEM)). In order to provide rigorous and methodological support to creating and marketing procedures of the Erbajolo economic activity zone set up by the local authority, the Urban Community of Bastia, it seemed to us important to identify in advance the different company relocation factors as well as alternative models of spatial organization of the city. We then defined the actors and instruments that will respectively bear and serve the town and country planning. Different scenarios were then developed from which the commercialization phase of the business area, can be effectively launched in the best interests of the different parties involved

Full textFree zones are a striking illustration of the opening of the world to the international trade. In the last four decades, tremendously increased, Free zones are not static phenomenon, but dynamic ones. The dynamic is in the sense of which their industrial activities are started from labor intensive industry to the most sophisticated activities. We propose a classification of free zones into four generations: 1st generation (free trade zones), 2nd generation (export processing zones and special economic zones), 3rd generation (services based zones) and 4th generation (science-based zones). Based on performance criteria in term of exportation and employment, four groups of countries were classified to design the level of development of free zones. The first two groups of countries, such as the Est and the South-Est Asian countries and Latin American countries, are considered as the most dynamic countries in term of free zones’ development. In fact, the most important zone is located in the countries where there are a strong industrial dynamics with participating actively to the international trade and to foreign firms’ strategy. Having invested in free zones, enterprises are totally foreign firms or Joint- venture. In this regard, firms installed in free zones could be: assembled factory, production factory, totally integrated factory. These firms aimed to supply the product to parent company or to sell the product to another enterprises or distribution companies as they are outsourcing. In this case, the firm’s strategic behaviors are considered as “verticals” or “global”. It’s not surprising that the free zones of 2nd generation are established in Cambodia at the stage of industrial development. The objective of the Royal Government of Cambodia is to exploit efficiently its comparative advantages (natural and artificial ones) and to catch its opportunities to the regional and global trade. Thus, the establishment of special economic zones (SEZ) shows the commitment of the government in the process of the export-led industrialization in Cambodia. The Cambodian SEZ provides two kinds of advantages : The non Cost advantages includes international market privileged access (to American and European market), the benefit of social label of Cambodian manufactured products and others Cambodian preferential trade agreements, which are considered as the most attractive factors of foreign direct investment to Cambodian SEZ. The Cost Advantages has a natural caracteristic (the abundance of labor forces at low cost) and artificial (better incentive measures and attractive policy). Based on theses advantages, the Cambodian SEZ could be developed in three phases: initial phase (assembly factory), second phase (production factory) and finally the third phase (totally integrated factory). In this context, the Cambodian SEZ could, at a complementary position with free zones of the South-East Asian region, be a privileged location of the labor intensive industries- textile, garments and electronic industry

Full textFine particulate matter (PM2.5) has received considerable attention due to its impact on human health and air quality. Therefore, effective plans for human health protection require a detailed knowledge of the most relevant PM emission sources and their contributions to the ambient PM levels. Thus, this thesis aims to characterize the chemical composition of PM2.5 collected in Marseille area, and quantify the impacts of the main emission sources. To meet these objectives, a one-year monitoring campaign was conducted at the urban background site of “Cinq avenues” during the period of 2011-2012. A detailed chemical characterization of the collected PM2.5 filters was performed, and 3 receptor models were applied to this database: CMB (Chemical Mass Balance), PMF (Positive Matrix Factorization), and ME-2 (Multilinear Engine). Although based on significantly different concepts, the intercomparison exercise of the output data of the used models has generally showed a good agreement in estimating the source contributions of biomass burning (representing between 23 and 33% on annual average) and vehicular traffic (between 14 and 26%). In contrast, significant differences were observed for the industrial (1-18%) and ammonium sulfate (12-30%) sources. This study highlighted the significant contribution of organic matter (OM), which represents 42% of the PM2.5 mass, on average. Regarding the source apportionment results, one of the most striking findings is the identification of two types of biomass burning aerosol, one of which probably comes from open burning of green waste. The latter can even be considered a major contributor to the PM2.5 mass during fall and early winter

Today, its action is extended to 5 areas (mbongo, dibombari, eseka, kienke and edea). Eseka and dibombari areas alone it controls 8 421 ha of improved palm-trees and more than 1 700 employees in industrial palm-groves and 5 154 ha for 1 348 small holders. So. Ca. Palm has achieved a noticeable progress as far as production is concerned but is confronted with problems due to personnel and small holders’ management. These problems are aggravated by the aging of plantations and difficulties in commercializing its products both on national and international markets. If the state cannot efficiently and competently manage with profitability a firm with so. Ca. Palm dimensions, the solution is either privatization or the creation of smaller enterprise, setting up of small structures by which peasants can understand why and for whom they should produce

Full textDomino effects or cascading events in the chemical and process industries are recognized as credible accident scenarios since three decades. They are raising a growing concern, as they have the potential to cause catastrophic consequences. Domino effect, as phenomenon, is still a controversial topic when coming to its assessment. There is still a poor agreement on the definition of domino effect and its assessment procedures. A number of different definitions and approaches are proposed in technical standards and in the scientific literature. Therefore, one of this research objectives is to formalize domino effects knowledges in order to comprehend their occurrence mechanisms. Thus, the parameters that should be looked at so as to understand the escalation possibility and in order to identify domino scenarios, were analyzed. The aim is to improve domino effect hazards prevention, through the development of a methodology for the identification and the analysis of domino effects. We developed a method for the analysis of domino accident chain caused by loss of containments. It allow the identification and prioritization of accident propagation paths. The method is user-friendly and help decision making regarding the prevention of cascading events. The final outcomes of the model are given in form of quantitative rankings of equipment involved in domino scenarios, taking into account the effect of meteorological conditions and safety barriers. The rankings give a clear idea of equipment hazard for initiating or continuing cascading events. The methodology is based on a topography of the industrial area of concern, including the characteristics of each unit and accounting for protection and mitigation barriers. It is based on two main stages. The first is the identification of accident propagation paths. For this, the event tree method is used. The possible targets are identified combining the escalation thresholds and vulnerability models (to estimate damage probability). This first stage was implemented using the MATLAB® software and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to enable an easy input procedure and output analysis in Microsoft Excel®.The second stage is the identification of the most dangerous equipment. It consists in prioritizing equipment involved in the propagation paths according to their likelihood to cause/propagate domino effect. The algorithm that performs this phase was coded in VBA.The method was designed so as it can be used without the need to rely on the results of safety reports. However, if such results are available, it is possible to lighten some steps of the method. It revealed easy to apply, this was confirmed through projects and student internships

Full textThe socio-space approach of the rehabilitation of the polluted industrial sites is based on two supports of analysis: environmental components and the executive framework. This study, which relates primarily to France, made it possible to emphasize the major failures of an operation of rehabilitation of site, generally reduced to two factors: costs and techniques of depollution. This approach stresses that there is a dimension of the rehabilitation of the sites, which should be considered. It is a question of considering it, since depollution until the reuse of a site. It led starting from the Total site of Vendin-le-Vieil and other sites taken in example to expose some direct orientations, which would channel the useful and durable reuse of a site from its environmental immediate and of the executive context into force. These orientations led to the development of a model diagram tested on the boubiers of flaring of l’Ile Mandji in Gabon (Central Africa). Full textIn the whirlwind which followed the Iranian Islamic revolution in 1979, Iran was suffering economically from an exhausting war, reconstruction of the country and political isolation. In this condition Iran felt the need to develop powerful economical tools redress the country to reach its real level economic potential, manpower and mining resources. But there was no law on foreign investment except the law of attraction and protection of foreign investments in Iran signed in 1955. After the Iranian revolution and the adoption of a new Constitution on 30 March 1989 and the emersion of its contradictions with the law of 1955, a new Foreign Investment Act was established on 24 May 2002: "All the profits obtained by Iran, in addition to the original capital invested in other businesses under the law on protection and attraction of foreign investment are regarded as foreign capital, and are protected by the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran. " During this relatively long interval (22 years) the Islamic Republic of Iran has created free zones in 1993 and regulations governing capital investments in a free zone that defined how foreigners can invest in Iran. The principle 44 of Constitution of 1980 has an important role in Iranian economy. However, despite the laudable political intentions, this principle has not fully. Contributed to the reduction of governmental authority over economic affairs of the country. Recently some economic modifications toward privatisation made the possibility of issuing the public companies and banks stock's in the Iranian stock exchange. What are the real obstacles toward investors to enter Iran? What are the economic, legal or political barriers? What are the effects of the Iranian nuclear issue facing foreign investment? And what are the solutions?

Full textThis thesis explores the development and implementation of optimisation algorithms for monitoring industrial areas using a team of autonomous mobile robots. The research focuses on Multi-Robot Task Allocation (MRTA), where a near-optimal mission plan must be generated. A novel model considering heterogeneous robots and tasks is proposed, using Genetic Algorithms (GA) and 2-Opt local search methods to solve the problem. The thesis also integrates collision avoidance strategies, which become necessary when there are many robots and tasks. A low-level local solution handles many conflict situations during the mission, which can cause delays. Therefore, a solution for this case was proposed using clustering. Furthermore, we evaluate the proposed solutions through real-world experiments including a navigation-based algorithm that addresses collision issues. The results demonstrate the value of these algorithms in optimising task allocation and path planning for autonomous mobile robots in industrial settings, paving the way for more efficient mission planning and enhanced safety in industrial environments

Full textThis thesis questions the links between the cohesion policy of the European Union and the national," regional, as well as local planning policies in the Campania region, based on the assumption that there is à process of europeanization of these policies in Europe that takes place within a context of decentralization of political powers to the local level. Drawing from two examples, i. E. The extension of the network of the underground in the City of Naples and the urban regeneration of an industrial wasteland in Bagnoli, I question the notions of "continuity" or "rupture" as they are referred to by the institutional actors who have been implementing these policies since the late 1990s, whether they are involved in national or regional institutions in the Campania region. To do so, I combine different perspectives: financial aspects and territorialization issues are considered; the content of the policy documents are scrutinized, and the governance patterns are unpacked. My approach is also diachronic as it seeks to understand how the cohesion policy of the European Union has become a structural component of the spatial and regional planning policies - the access to European funding is now largely influenced by the Lisbon and Gothenburg strategies, and how it has played a pivotal role in the reshaping of local governance patterns -and relationships between the main actors

Full textThis PhD aims at reconstructing atmospheric CH4 concentrations from voltage signals recorded by low-cost Metal Oxide Sensors (MOS) for the purpose of monitoring CH4 leaks from an industrial facility. Our strategy is based on the collocation of measurements by low-cost sensors and expensive very high accuracy instruments. The CH4 concentrations data from the high accuracy reference instrument are then used as a target variable to be reconstructed using MOS voltage and other predictors. The reconstruction is performed with both machine learning models and parametric models. It is applied to increasingly complex problems, including the reconstruction of: 1) smooth variations of ambient room air CH4 in a laboratory, 2) fast and large variations of CH4 during concentration spikes generated on a test bench in a laboratory with a typical signature similar to that observed for real world leaks, and 3) fast and large variations of CH4 observed in the field during a dedicated controlled release experiment. The first laboratory experiments revealed a high influence of H2O in MOS sensors, and the reconstruction with a Multilayer perceptron model showed good agreement between the references and the reconstructed room air concentrations (Chapter 2). The results of the second experiment (Chapter 3) showed the importance of the selection of the sensor's type in order to produce reconstructions of CH4 concentration with a 1 ppm accuracy (RMSE). We also discovered that the TGS 2611-C00 sensors provided a more accurate reconstruction of CH4 spikes than the TGS 2611-E00 ones. A parsimonious model training strategy allowed us to restrict the training set from 70% to 25% of the data without a degradation in the reconstruction of the CH4 spikes. Emission of controlled releases from reconstructed CH4 concentrations measured by MOS sensors and the inversion of a Gaussian atmospheric model (Chapter 4) were similar to those inverted from high accuracy reference data, with an average emission rate estimation error of 25% over 11 controlled releases and a location error of 9.5 m. The results of this PhD are the basis to explore advanced techniques based on machine learning to produce accurate estimates of CH4 concentrations, and study the information required by inversion modelling that produced best estimates of the emission rate and location of CH4 leaks

Full textThis work aims to study the impact of the sea-breeze system on the boundary layer dynamics and transport of the pollutants. In order to simulate the sea-breeze dynamics, the non hydrostatic atmospheric model Meso-NH has been applied to the Nord-Pas de Calais region. The simulations were computed at the IDRIS computational centre in Paris and the model outputs have been compared with data issued from ground based instruments lidar and sodar (LCPA laboratory , Dunkerque, France), meteorological stations and the air quality network ATMO Nord-Pas de Calais. These results allowed the analysis of a type of sea breeze having the largest occurence on the Flanders coast. The numerical simulations have shown that the sea breeze had a temporarily recirculation zone when the sea-breeze flow was accelerating. The chemistry-transport model Meso-NHC has then been applied in order to follow pollutants emitted regionally and from Dunkerque industrial area. The regional inventory of emissions has been integrated to the model with temporal coefficients applied to different categories of pollutants. These improvements allow us using the regional inventory in the numerical simulations in order to realize realistic pollutions episodes at local and regional scales. The results show that the sea-breeze circulation induces a redistribution of marine air and pollutants above the sea-breeze gravity current. The uplift, up to twice the height of the gravity current, induces a cooling of the air masses. These conditions are proneto form particules and acid clouds by a nucleation process of sulfates particles which is enhanced by both photochemistry of ozone and high relative humidity. The sea-breeze system stratifies the atmosphere and thus restrains the pollutants circulations at low altitudes. Consecutive sea-breeze days can keep the circulation of pollutants in the nearby coastal areas of emissions and favour the stagnation of the pollutants at regional scale

Full textThe contaminants accumulated in the first meters of the soil can move vertically, due to the successives infiltrations, towards the groundwater leading to its contamination. The main objective of this work deals with the characterization and the modelling of the spatial and temporary evolution of contaminants from the soil’s surface to the groundwater. This is on includes on one hand : the study of the parameter’s influence on the results of the simulation of flows and transport, and on the other hand this applies to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) polluted plant coke. The first part of this work helps us to identify six parameters for flow and five for the transport of contaminant whiches have to be estimated for experimental studies. The characterization of these parameters is made either in laboratory or in situ, and the value of some parameters can be obtained according to various methods. These methods of characterization are applied on Gandola’s experiment (1999) and give different values according to the method which is used. From this point of this work, we can wonder what will be the best way to estimate the parameters and also the impact on the results of the simulation which results from this. So, the second part of this work deals with the influence of parameters and models on the results of the flow and transport’s simulation in an unsaturated zone. A first scenario using the characterizated values gives us the numerical results similar to the laboratory results, whiches the point out ther right reasoning of the parameters’ characterization. After making vary the value of the most important parameters (sort of maillage, hydraulic conductivity, porosity, retention’s curve parameters, coefficent of dispersivity and diffusion), what emerges from all that in this study is that : the speed of the flow is sensitive to the values of the hydraulic conductivity and of porosity ; the evolution of concentration only depends on the values of the coefficients of dispersivity. The simulations are sensitive to the sort of retention’s model that is used (Van Genuchten-Mualem, Haverkamp et al. And Brooks & Corey). At last, each one of these models doesn’t make intervene the same number of parameters, which added to the parameters sensitivity becomes a significant selection criteria. The tested laboratory experiments prove to be interesting to validate and to test modelisation’s hypothesis. The conclusions provided by the second part enable to better apprehend the study of the real case : The waste land of an old plant coke. Which is studied in the last part of this work made three steps, the first witth regard to the collection of avaible informations, then the second step explains in detail the investigation campaign giving informations on the unsaturated zone estimated from 1,5 m to 5 m deep. The synthesis of those two steps enables the realization of a third one which deals with the modelisation of the unsaturated zone of the industrial wasteland. Five main slice are recognized on the site, characterizated and then put together in different scenario (of 5 meters deep) whiches are simulated. All of them are made up of the same contaminated source, of the same flux coming in (at the top) and of a constant and identical hydraulic head in the froundwater. The results of the simulation aver ten years enable us to estimate the portion of the contaminant getting to the groundwater but also to appreciate the importance of taking the unsaturated zone and its composition into account, in a study of the groundwater’s contamination by a polluted source placed on the surface of the soil. What emerges from all that is that the physical and hydrical characterization of the sort of the soil containing the contaminating source produces a difference in the transfer ‘s speed of the contaminants to the grounwater. This variation is more negligible according to the sort of soil constituting the underlying zone. So it is important in such a study to characterize the embankment constituting the first meters, as well as the stratification of the unsaturated zone on this sort of site

Full textThe first part of this thesis treats the theoretical basis of the international division of production process (idpp) on the following points : first, the existence of the specific gains exclusively from the intermediate goods trade is verified on the static analysis of the iddp. Second, a framework of the cycle for a product which is composed of decomposable technological segments is established relying on the dynamic trade models technological gap theory et product cycle theory. The second part of the thesis is interested in the configuration of idpp and its evolution in the asia pacific zone and especially in the south korea. The configuration of idpp of the asia pacific zone is analysed considering vertical specialization with trade statistics. It is caracterized by the supplying countries and assemblying-transforming countries relation. Next, the configuration of idpp of manufacturing industries of south korea and its evolution are analysed with input output table statistics. A relation between the idpp and some industrial performances is verified

Full textExposure to metals from fine and ultrafine particles is of major health concern, especially in heavily industrialized areas. This thesis aims to better characterize the metal fraction of fine and ultrafine particles emitted in an industrial-marked urban context (Dunkirk harbour) and to determine their lung bioaccessibility, in relation with their health impact. Particles were collected according to their size in specific environments : (i) in an urban area influenced by traffic and industrial emissions and (ii) at the stacks and in the vicinity of a ferromanganese plant (Glencore), characteristic of the industrial activity in Dunkirk. Pulmonary bioaccessibility of metals was determined using a synthetic lung fluid (Gamble solution), and compared to a sequential extraction method. In the urban area, the elemental concentrations in ultrafine particles are primarily related to lacal sources (traffic and housse heating), while submicronic particles (< 1µm) are mainly affected by industrial sources, especially metallurgical plants, the main source of particulate metals in the industrial area. The other sources identified are petrochemistry, coal and heavy-fuels burning and natural sources (sea salts and crustal particles). A high temporal variability of fine and ultrafine particles mass concentrations and of their metal contents was observed at the stacks and in the close environment of the ferromanganese plant. The high concentrations of ultrafine particles (PM₀,₁ : 60% of the total PM₂,₅ mass), enriched in metals, as observed in stack flues, decrease rapidly in the vicinity of the plant, due to the changes in temperatureand humidity, inducing rapid transformations. The metal bioaccessibility varies according to the particle properties (metals chemical speciation and particle size distribution), depending on their origin and formation processes. This metal bioaccessibility may also be affected by physicochemical transformations of fine particles occuring during atmospheric transport (mixing/agglomeration, aggregation, oxidation or reduction processes). The in-vitro bioaccessibility assessment is of interest to better understand the metal bioavailability and thus for a better appreciation of the health impact of toxic metals
