Abstract:
Стаття присвячена дослідженню полігамії в Індії, яка розглядається у контексті питань Тендерної рівності та Тендерної дискримінації у шлюбі. Ґендерно-правовий аналіз, покладений в основу дослідження, дає змогу подивитися на проблему полігамії з позиції прав жінок. Наводиться позиція, згідно з якою інститут багатоженства ототожнюється з обмеженням прав і свобод жінок. Констатується, що досі багато західних дослідників і представників міжнародних правозахисних і неурядових організацій ототожнюють полігамію із соціальною несправедливістю і порушенням прав жінок.
