Resumen
Various aspects of chemical effects on X-ray spectra such as energy shift, emission probability change, satellite formation and peak profile change are reviewed in recent studies. Applicability of the chemical effect to analysis of practical samples is also discussed. Though the emphasis is laid on PIXE, other X-ray production techniques are also taken into consideration because new trends of X-ray production and measurement are growing.

Abstract The traditional method of cloning formation is used to study the radiation effect of nuclear physics rays on hepatoma cells, and the results obtained are not reliable. Therefore, a new method of studying the radiation effect of nuclear physics rays on hepatoma cells is proposed. PCC method is used to study the radiation effect of γ-rays on hepatoma cells. Radiation effects of X-rays on hepatoma cells were studied by radionuclide formation assay, neutral comet electrophoresis and γH2AX focal detection. The results showed that the survival curves of HepG2 hepatoma cells irradiated by γ-

Abstract Radionuclide irradiators (137Cs and 60Co) are commonly used in preclinical studies ranging from cancer therapy to stem cell biology. Amidst concerns of radiological terrorism, there are institutional initiatives to replace radionuclide sources with lower energy X-ray sources. As researchers transition, questions remain regarding whether the biological effects of γ-rays may be recapitulated with orthovoltage X-rays because different energies may induce divergent biological effects. We therefore sought to compare the effects of orthovoltage X-rays with 1-mm Cu or Thoraeus filtration and

Abstract Radiation-induced bone loss is a potential health concern for cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. Enhanced bone resorption by osteoclasts and decreased bone formation by osteoblasts were thought to be the main reasons. In this study, we showed that both pre-differentiating and differentiating osteoclasts were relatively sensitive to X-rays compared with osteoblasts. X-rays decreased cell viability to a greater degree in RAW264.7 cells and in differentiating cells than than in osteoblastic MC3T3-E1 cells. X-rays at up to 8 Gy had little effects on osteoblast mineralization. In con

In this research, optoelectronic devices consisted of an infrared light emitting diode and a phototransistor with no special handling or third party-packaging were irradiated to ionizing radiation utilizing x-rays. It was found that the devices under test (DUTs) undergo performance degradation in their functional parameters during exposure to x-rays. These damaging effects are depending on their current drives and also the Total Ionizing Dose (TID) absorbed. The TID effects by x-rays are cumulative and gradually take place throughout the lifecycle of the devices exposed to radiation.

X-ray microprobes that use focused monochromatic x rays for fluorescence excitation have four significant advantages over electron microprobes that use focused electrons for direct excitation, namely: 1) less background radiation is produced, 2) there is little or no charging of insulating specimens, 3) less damage is caused to the specimen, and 4) the specimen often does not need a high vacuum environment. These advantages result from the difference in interaction of photon and electron beams with matter. In the first place, because the x-ray photon is uncharged, bremsstrahlung which is alway

The outcome of several studies into future X-ray astronomy satellite missions has favoured the approach of using grazing incidence optics in conjunction with Charged Coupled Devices (CCD's) as focal plane detectors. This approach allows astrophysical investigation of unprecedented sensitivity by maximising source detectability and by resolving the source spectra. This thesis covers work performed in the development and evaluation of EEV CCD's for use as focal plane X-ray detectors. Radiotherapy (RT) has recently evolved with the emergence of heavy ion radiations or new fractionation schemes of photon therapy, which modify the dose rate of treatment delivery. The aim of the present study was then to evaluate the in vitro influence of a ultra-high dose rate comparing them with standard dose rate. In this regard, a radioresistant SK-MEL-28 cell line were irradiated with x-ray in order to have a total dose of 2 and 4 Gy, at two different dose rate. We summarize a theoretical study of the interactions of x rays with a biological sample during the creation of a hologram. The choice of an optimal wavelength for x-ray holography is discussed, based on a description of scattering by objects within an aqueous environment. The problem of the motion resulting from the absorption of x rays during a short exposure is described. The possibility of using very short exposures in order to capture the image before motion can compromise the resolution is explored. The impact of these calculation on the question of the feasibility of using an x-ray laser
