In July 2023, an update of the NBR 10520 standard was published by the Brazilian standardization organization Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas (ABNT). This standard partially regulates the rules of citation, focusing on in-text citations and footnotes, while the actual bibliographic references and the list of used sources are compiled according to the NBR 6023 standard, which was last updated in 2018.
We've incorporated these new style directives into our ABNT citation styles and now support both the older and newer conventions for in-text citations. We hope this will be useful for our Brazilian users!
