In eight samples of organic and organomineral surface horizons we studied the stability of soil organic matter in aerobic and anaerobic conditions expressed by the rate constant of its biochemical oxidation, total biochemical oxygen demand, substrate production of methane and degradability in anaerobic conditions. In the eight very different samples no relationship was found between aerobic and anaerobic stability of their organic matter; nor was the expected relationship between total biochemical oxygen demand and “active carbon” Chws proved. Methods of determination are described.

Sharp wave/ripple (SWR, 150–250 Hz) hippocampal events have long been postulated to be involved in memory consolidation. However, more recent work has investigated SWRs that occur during active waking behaviour: findings that suggest that SWRs may also play a role in cell assembly strengthening or spatial working memory. Do such theories of SWR function apply to animal learning? This review discusses how general theories linking SWRs to memory-related function may explain circuit mechanisms related to rodent spatial learning and to the associated stabilization of new cognitive maps.

The anion-exchange resin (AER) method for the estimation of bioavailable phosphorus was slightly optimised for soils with high contents of readily soluble organic compounds as well as for those having very dif­ferent clay and sand contents. The method based on a strong base anion exchanger, the active group of trimethyl benzyl ammonium, the field moist soil, and the enclosure of resin beds in a bag was very different soils under relatively uniform outer conditions where the determination of the absorbance of (blue) phosphate-molybdate complex at 870 nm is used. The motivation of the proposed method comes from distinctive features of forest soils where marked differences are commonly encountered between clay/silt/sand contents, pH-values, and the contents of organic substances. A modestly new methodology was applied for the evaluation of seasonal phosphorus dynamics in a forest environment. The recommended rapid assay for available phosphorus was statistically compared with other procedures. Considerable seasonal effects on the bioavailable P contents were demonstrated.

Areas of shifting sand are important places for testing the effects of abiotic and biotic factors on soil morphology and evolution, where aeolian processes cause dynamic changes in the natural environment. The main aim of the study was to determine the evolution of soils within deflation hollows in shifting sands. In the context of this purpose, representative study areas were selected: (1) a reference surface in a plantation forest with soils undisturbed by aeolian processes – one pedon, (2) an active deflation hollow – two pedons, (3) a deflation hollow stabilized by reforestation (forest planting ca. 30 and ca. 100 years ago – two pedons). Soil morphology and micromorphology as well as several physical and chemical properties were analyzed. In a deflation hollow, the studied soils are found at various stages of development, mostly characterized by a relatively rapid accumulation of soil organic matter. A well-developed buried illuvial B horizon as an ‘ortstein’ material can limit aeolian erosion to a certain depth, while above these horizons aeolian erosion and accumulation remain active. History of changes in the environment is to a substantial degree reflected in morphology and micromorphology of the studied soils.

Background/Aim. Exertional heat stress is a common problem in military services. The aim of this study was to examine changes in body water and serum concentrations of some electrolites in soldiers during exertional heat stress (EHST), as well as effects of 10-day passive or active acclimation in a climatic chamber. Methods. Forty male soldiers with high aerobic capacity, performed EHST either in cool (20 ?C, 16 ?C WBGT-wet bulb globe temperature), or hot (40 ?C, 25 ?C WBGT) environment, unacclimatized, or after 10 days of passive or active acclimation. The subjects were allowed to drink tap water ad libitum during EHST. Mean skin (Tsk) and tympanic (Tty) temperatures and heart rates (HR) measured physiological strain, while sweat rate (SwR), and serum concentrations of sodium, potassium and osmolality measured changes in water and electrolyte status. Blood samples were collected before and immediately after the EHST. Results. Exertional heat stress in hot conditions induced physiological heat stress (increase in Tty, HR, and SwR), with significant decrease in serum sodium concentration (140.6?1.52 before vs 138.5?1.0 mmol/l after EHST, p < 0.01) and osmolality (280.7?3.8 vs 277.5?2.6 mOsm/kg, p < 0.05) in the unacclimatized group. The acclimated soldiers suffered no such effects of exertional heat stress, despite almost the same degree of heat strain, measured by Tty, HR and SwR. Conclusion. In the trained soldiers, 10-day passive or active acclimation in a climatic chamber can prevent disturbances in water and electrolytic balance, i.e. decrease in serum sodium concentrations and osmolality induced by exertional heat stress.

SummaryA high frequency of proviral acquisition has previously been reported in the offspring of SWR/J–RF/J hybrid mice. In the present study, it was investigated whether this proviral acquisition would be useful for large-scale insertional mutagenesis studies. A population of SWR/J–RF/J hybrid mice with a predominantly SWR/J background was created. Lines of mice with such a background and partially congenic for two active proviruses from the RF/J strain were generated (the insert lines). Control lines were derived from mice which had no proviral loci but had an otherwise similar genetic background. DNA samples of mice in the insert lines were screened for the appearance of new proviral loci by Southern hybridization. The rate of proviral acquisition, calculated from the observed number of new proviral loci was 0·023 new proviruses per mouse. This rate is lower than found in previous studies and too low for large-scale insertional mutagenesis studies. A sensitivity experiment indicated that there was adequate detection of new proviral loci.The number of segregating proviruses was consistent with the number of newly acquired proviruses actually detected. Two additional crosses between mice in the insert lines and SWR/J mice were performed. The rate of proviral acquisition was greatly increased when SWR/J females were initially mated to insert mice, but remained unchanged when SWR/J males were used. This suggested that mice in the insert lines had acquired a maternally transmitted factor, which was suppressing viral expression and thus reducing the rate of proviral acquisition.

We quantified the soluble fractions of the soil organic carbon (SOC) concentrations and the total and water-soluble trace elements in soils contaminated by household waste and remediated via the addition of green manure over 13 years and identified the main factors controlling the vertical distribution and accumulation of the trace elements. Green manure favoured the active formation of soil organic matter. The SOC of the examined soils was characterised by the active stabilisation by mineral soil compounds, but by a low degree of humification. The soils showed increased concentrations of Cr and Ni ions. The SOC and different soil compounds enriched by Si, Ca, and Mn ions were the important determinant for the distribution of Sr, V and Cu ions, as well as for the distribution of Pb and Cr ions bound to the water-soluble components of the soils. The low degree of SOC humification may be one of the main reasons of the high concentrations of Cu and Pb ions in the composition of the water-soluble soil compounds. The nickel ions were mainly associated with compounds enriched by the Al and Fe ions. The extremely high percentage concentration of the Ni ions in the water-soluble components of the soils may be result of the absence of the Ni ions adsorption by humic substances.

The trends of carbon sequestration behaviour have been estimated for the most fertile soil type of Slovakia based on the prognosticated regional climate change scenario. The processes were modelled and simulated by CENTURY 5 model to provide these inputs: predicted information about quantification of carbon and nitrogen fluxes, and primary net of organic matter production. Soil conditions were represented by the soil type calcareous Haplic Chernozem (Danubian lowland), and the climatic scenario was related to the meteorological station Hurbanovo modelled for the period of 2005&minus;2090. The dynamics of soil carbon and nitrogen was assessed using a conventional cropping system, concretely for 5-years crop rotation winter wheat-maize-oats (feed)-alfalfa-alfalfa modified into two alternatives: with fertilisation and without irrigation (ALT1), and excluding fertilisation and irrigation (ALT2). The model CENTURY 5 provides the simulation of three soil organic matter pools: the active (labile) pool (C<sub>L</sub>), the slow (sequestration) pool (C<sub>S</sub>), and the passive (resistant) pool (C<sub>P</sub>). The results of the model simulation for the conventional crop rotation predict that the supplies of active and slow SOM pools (C<sub>L</sub>, C<sub>S</sub>) do not show any statistically significant decreasing tendency in relation to the expected climate scenario. A moderately linear decreasing trend is expected with the passive SOM pool (C<sub>P</sub>), however, this decreasing tendency is not recognised during total carbon running (C<sub>TOT</sub>). I.e., in the future conventional crop-rotation farming no significant climate change impacts on total carbon sequestration will be presumed. In the case of ALT1, the model shows a gradual but very moderate decrease mainly with CS pool, and in that of ALT2 a significant decreasing trend is recognised with all SOM pools, mainly with CS pool. Amazing is the finding that in the case of non-irrigated but fertilised cropping system (in dry weather), the anticipated significant decrease in carbon sequestration was not observed, however, more drastic changes can be predicted in the non-fertilised and non-irrigated alternative. The average aboveground live carbon and belowground live carbon in both alternative cropping systems in relation to the conventional one have been compared. It was, estimated: in ATL1, that the primary net of organic matter decreased by almost 38% (aboveground live C) and by 43% (belowground live C), and in ALT2 by 43% (aboveground live C) and 45% (belowground live C), respectively. All these findings can be considered as the modelling outputs at the given input data, not as a firmly confirmed prognosis. Nevertheless, the achieved results of CENTURY 5 modelling assume that in the case of sufficient fertilisation and irrigation with well-managed cropping rotation practice under fertile soil conditions of Slovakia, no serious changes in carbon supplies in all SOM pools can be expected.

To study the effects of straw return and aeration of the water layer on oxygen and redox status in the water column and at different depths in paddy field soil, a short-term incubation experiment was conducted with four treatments: (1) no straw return (NS); (2) straw return without aeration (S); (3) straw return and 30 minutes of aeration per day (SO30); and (4) straw return and 90 minutes of aeration per day (SO90). Compared to NS, S decreased dissolved oxygen (DO) and redox potential (ORP) by 23–58% and 47–53 mV, respectively, and increased active reducing substance (ARS) by 21–46% in the water and soil layers. The aeration treatments increased DO and ORP by 25–120% and 11–86 mV, respectively, and reduced ARS by 5–16% compared to S. The results indicated that straw return to paddy fields exacerbated hypoxia and reducing conditions in the soil. SO90 achieved better effects than SO30 in alleviating the negative impact of straw return by supplying more oxygen, but the effects weakened over time and with soil depth.

Improving the quality of reclaimed soils requires an active population of microorganisms which can promote plant growth. Increasing the activity of microorganisms can be done by adding nutrients, making agrotechnical soil improvements and by the inoculation of beneficial microorganisms. We investigated the role of fertilizer treatments on plant growth and nitrogen fixation in a pot experiment conducted under green house conditions. Influence of the fertilizer type on numbers of bacteria was also investigated. The seeds were inoculated with the mixture of Azotobacter spp. and Rhizobium spp. The pot experiment was set up with the substrate from the mine spoil (North Bohemia coal basin, the Czech Republic) using Medicago sativa as test plants. The following treatments were used: compost 0, 20, 40, 120, 400, 800 t/ha and mineral fertilizer &ndash; ammonium sulphate. The doses of ammonium sulphate were calculated to be equivalent (in nitrogen content) to those doses of compost. Control variants without bacteria inoculation and fertilizers were also included. Inoculation with the mixture of AzotobacterRhizobium spp. significantly increased plant growth and nitrogenase activity. The nitrogenase activity was inhibited by mineral fertilizers in all doses used. The results of the study have proved that compost application stimulated the growth of Azotobacter spp. and Rhizobium spp.

L’amélioration des systèmes RADAR des aéronefs actuels est confrontée aux deux défis majeurs que sont la réduction des surfaces occupées et la maîtrise du coût. Ces défis s’ajoutent aux contraintes matérielles spécifiques des missiles autodirecteurs concernant la tenue en puissance à forte température et la robustesse aux variations de charge extérieure causées par le dépointage des éléments rayonnants environnants (apparentées au phénomène de TOS actif). Un enjeu majeur réside dans la réponse de l’amplificateur de puissance, identifié comme brique élémentaire, à ces défis actuels. La technologie Silicium Germanium (SiGe) est mise en avant par de nombreux travaux académiques sur les nouvelles générations de télécommunication (5G, 6G). Des travaux récents sur des amplificateurs de puissance publiés entre 2016 et 2020 apportent des résultats proches des caractéristiques souhaitées sur des bandes de fréquence bande X et la partie basse de la bande Ku. Ce double contexte industriel et académique justifie une étude originale sur les caractéristiques et les limites de la technologie SiGe en haut de la bande Ku au regard de la puissance de sortie, du rendement, de la robustesse au TOS actif et de la tenue des performances en température. Au cours de ces travaux, avec à l’appui une étude bibliographique documentée et un cahier des charges précis, cinq motifs de puissance et trois types de coupleur sont réalisés, simulés, envoyés en fabrication et mesurés. La topologie d’architecture équilibrée, mise en exergue sur de nombreuses études relatives au self-contained, constitue notamment un pilier central de cette étude. Les choix de conception et les performances obtenues sont détaillés. Ces dernières sont comparées à l’état de l’art. Elles démontrent des avancées significatrices valorisées dans trois conférences majeures du domaine scientifique et apportent des réponses originales aux défis contemporains de conception d’amplificateurs de puissance pour une application RADAR au sein de missiles autodirecteurs
The improvement of the RADAR systems of the current aircraft is confronted with the two major challenges of the reduction of the areas occupied and the control of the cost. These challenges are added to the specific material constraints of self-guided missiles concerning power handling at high temperature and robustness to external load variations caused by the misalignment of surrounding radiating elements (related to the active SWR phenomenon). A major challenge is based on the response of the power amplifier, identified as an elementary building block, to these current challenges. The Silicon Germanium (SiGe) technology is highlighted by many academic works on new generations of telecommunications (5G, 6G). Several recent works on power amplifiers published between 2016 and 2020 bring results close to the desired characteristics on X-band and low Ku-band. This dual industrial and academic context justifies an original study on the characteristics and limits of the SiGe technology at the top of the Ku band with regard to the output power, efficiency, robustness to active SWR and the power handling to temperature variations. During this work, with the support of a documented bibliographical study and acurrate specifications, five power patterns and three types of coupler are designed, simulated, sent to manufacturing and measured. The balanced architecture topology, highlighted in several self contained studies, is a central pillar of this study. The design choices and the performances obtained are detailed. These are compared to the state of the art. They demonstrate significant advances valued in three major conferences in the scientific field and provide original answers to the contemporary challenges of designing power amplifiers for a RADAR application within self-guided missiles

Le concept d'objet actif est un modèle de calcul puissant utilisé pour définir des systèmes distribués et concurrents. Dans ce travail, nous étudions un modèle d'objet actif sans type futur explicite et avec 'attente par nécessité', une technique qui déclenche une synchronisation sur la valeur retournée par une invocation lorsque celle-ci est strictement nécessaires. Bien que la concurrence élevée combinée à un haut niveau de transparence conduise à de bonnes performances, elles rendent le système plus propice à des problèmes comme les deadlocks. C'est la raison qui nous a conduit à étudier l'analyse de deadlocks dans ce modèle d'objets actifs. Le développement de notre analyse de les deadloks est divisé en deux travaux principaux. Dans le premier travail, nous nous concentrons sur la synchronisation implicite sur la disponibilité d'une certaine valeur. De cette façon, nous pouvons analyser la synchronisation des flux de données inhérente aux langues qui permettent une attente par nécessité. Dans le deuxième travail, nous présentons une technique d'analyse statique basée sur des effets et des types comportementaux pour dériver des modèles de synchronisation d'objets actifs et confirmant l'absence de deadlock dans ce contexte. Notre système d'effets trace l'accès aux champs d'objet, ce qui nous permet de calculer des types comportementaux qui expriment des modèles de synchronisation de manière précise. En conséquence, nous pouvons vérifier automatiquement l'absence de blocages dans des programmes basés sur des objets actifs avec des synchronisations d'attente par nécessité et des objets actifs dotés d’un état interne
The active object concept is a powerful computational model for defining distributed and concurrent systems. This model has recently gained prominence, largely thanks to its simplicity and its abstraction level. In this work we study an active object model with no explicit future type and wait-by-necessity synchronisations, a lightweight technique that synchronises invocations when the corresponding values are strictly needed. Although high concurrency combined with a high level of transparency leads to good performances, they also make the system more prone to problems such as deadlocks. This is the reason that led us to study deadlock analysis in this active objects model.The development of our deadlock analysis is divided in two main works. In the first work we focus on the implicit synchronisation on the availability of some value. This way we are able to analyse the data-flow synchronisation inherent to languages that feature wait-by-necessity. In the second work we present a static analysis technique based on effects and behavioural types for deriving synchronisation patterns of stateful active objects and verifying the absence of deadlocks in this context. Our effect system traces the access to object fields, thus allowing us to compute behavioural types that express synchronisation patterns in a precise way. As a consequence we can automatically verify the absence of deadlocks in active object based programs with wait-by-necessity synchronisations and stateful active objects

Le contexte de ma thèse se situe dans le cadre de l’imagerie multispectrale infrarouge (IR) et traite notamment de la plasmonique, domaine de l’optique électromagnétique dont le but est d’étudier et d’exploiter des ondes de surface existant à l’interface entre un métal et un diélectrique. On cherche à miniaturiser des fonctions optiques grâce aux nanotechnologies et plus précisément à réaliser du filtrage spectrale IR au niveau du pixel de détection en intégrant un nano-résonateur. Usuellement, on utilise des diélectriques et des métaux mais l’intégration est complexe. J’explore le potentiel offert par les semi-conducteurs fortement dopés pour remplacer les métaux, ce qui pourrait permettre une meilleure intégration aux procédés technologiques de fabrication de photodétecteur ou d’émetteur. J’utilise des semi-conducteurs III-V, compatibles avec la croissance épitaxiale du super-réseau de type 2 (T2SL) des photodétecteurs infrarouge à ondes longues (LWIR). De plus, travailler avec un semi-conducteur fortement dopé offre la possibilité de modifier la fréquence de résonance en ajustant la densité de porteurs libres par action d’une différence de potentiel. J’étudie des architectures de composants "GMR" (Guided-mode resonance), usuellement formées d’un guide d’onde en diélectrique, siège de la résonance, et d’un réseau en diélectrique ou en métal permettant le couplage entre l’onde incidente ou transmise et le mode guidé grâce aux ordres ±1 diffractés par le réseau dans la couche mince. La tendance actuelle est d’intégrer ces composants directement au niveau du pixel de détection mais au prix de nombreuses étapes de fabrication. J’étudie la possibilité d’utiliser exclusivement des semi-conducteurs pour simplifier le procédé de fabrication et permettre une intégration monolithique du filtre au détecteur. Le guide d’onde est constitué d’un semi-conducteur intrinsèque et le réseau en semi-conducteur fortement dopé. La gamme spectrale d’intérêt se situe dans l’infrarouge lointain (8 μm - 14 μm).Dans un premier temps, les démonstrations théorique et expérimentale d’un filtre spectral nanostructuré tout semi-conducteur pour l’infrarouge fondé sur la résonance de mode guidé ont été effectuées. J’ai dimensionné puis fabriqué un échantillon dont la première étape consiste en le dépôt par épitaxie d’une couche de GaSb et d’une couche de InAsSb fortement dopé sur un substrat en GaAs avant une étape de photolithographie pour définir le masque de la gravure ionique réactive afin d’obtenir le réseau de diffraction. Un travail expérimental a ensuite permis de caractériser le composant (mesure sous incidence normale, étude angulaire, mesure à basse température) avec notamment la réalisation d’un banc de caractérisation angulaire. En parallèle, j’ai étudié un empilement approprié de matériaux dopés permettant, par application d’une tension électrique, de déplacer les électrons libres issus du dopage dans le réseau et le guide, ce qui modifie alors localement l’indice de réfraction et donc directement les conditions de guidage de la lumière par variation de phase. Différentes approches ont été présentées pour tenter d’ajuster la longueur d’onde de résonance du filtre spectral GMR : accumulation et déplétion des charges dans le réseau de diffraction, insertion d’une jonction P-N dans le guide d’onde, ...Enfin, une première brique pour l’intégration d’un T2SL dans un nano-résonateur optique pour réaliser un photodétecteur nanostructuré tout semi-conducteur a été étudiée. J’ai proposé́ la conception théorique de plusieurs nano-résonateurs intégrant un photodétecteur de type T2SL (filière InAs/GaSb). J’ai conçu trois architectures aux propriétés spectrales distinctes et qui diffèrent notamment par l’épaisseur de la couche de T2SL
The context of my thesis deals with infrared (IR) multispectral imaging and in particular with plasmonics, a field of electromagnetic optics whose the aim is to study and exploit surface waves existing at the interface between a metal and a dielectric. We seek to miniaturize optical functions thanks to nanotechnologies and more precisely to perform IR spectral filtering at the detection pixel level by integrating a nano-resonator. Usually we use dielectrics and metals, but the integration is complex. I am exploring the potential offered by heavily doped semiconductors to replace metals, which could allow better integration into technological processes for fabricate a photodetector or emitter. I use III-V semiconductors, compatible with the epitaxial growth of type 2 superlattice (T2SL) of long wave infrared photodetectors (LWIR). Furthermore, working with a heavily doped semiconductor offers the possibility of modifying the resonance frequency by adjusting the density of free carriers by the action of a potential difference.I study architectures of "GMR" components (Guided-Mode Resonance), usually formed by a waveguide in dielectric, where occurs the resonance, and a grating in dielectric or metal allowing the coupling between the incident or transmitted wave and the guided mode thanks to the ±1 orders diffracted by the grating in the thin layer. The current trend is to integrate these components directly at the level of the detection pixel but at the cost of numerous fabrication steps. I am studying the possibility of using exclusively semiconductors to simplify the fabrication process and allow monolithic integration of the filter into the detector. The waveguide consists of an intrinsic semiconductor and the grating of heavily doped semiconductor. The spectral range of interest is in the far infrared (8 μm - 14 μm).First, theoretical and experimental demonstrations of an all-semiconductor nano-structured spectral filter for infrared based on guided-mode resonance were carried out. I dimensioned and then fabricated a sample where the first step consists in depositing by epitaxy a layer of GaSb and a layer of highly doped InAsSb on a GaAs substrate before a photolithography step to define the mask of the etching reactive ionic etching in order to obtain the diffraction grating. An experimental work then made it possible to characterize the component (measurement under normal incidence, angular study, measurement at low temperature) with in particular the realization of an angular characterization setup.In parallel, I studied an appropriate stack of doped materials allowing, by applying an electrical voltage, to move the free electrons from doping in the grating and the guide, which then locally modifies the refractive index and therefore directly the conditions for guiding the light by phase variation. Different approaches have been presented in an attempt to adjust the resonance wavelength of the GMR spectral filter: accumulation and depletion of charges in the diffraction grating, insertion of a PN junction in the waveguide, ...Finally, a first brick for the integration of a T2SL in an optical nano-resonator to make an all-semiconductor nano-structured photodetector was studied. I proposed the theoretical design of several nano-resonators integrating a T2SL type photodetector (InAs/GaSb). I designed three architectures with distinct spectral properties, which differ in particular in the thickness of the T2SL layer

L’Internet des Objets (IdO) et le déploiement des équipements connectés permettent la mise en place de solutions de Gestion Active de la Demande(GAD) avancées. En effet, il devient possible d’avoir plus de visibilité et un contrôle fin sur différents équipements qui consomment, stockent ou produisent de l’énergie dans une maison. Dans cette thèse, nous considérons des solutions ayant la capacité de produire des décisions de contrôle direct à différents niveaux de granularité en fonction des variables mesurées dans les habitats. Le contrôle est basé sur une optimisation d’utilité perçue. Des fonctions utilité sont définies à travers une approche générique qui considère la flexibilité de la charge et l’impact des décisions de contrôle sur les utilisateurs. L’approche proposée n’impose pas de restrictions sur le type des équipements contrôlés ni sur la granularité des décisions de contrôle. Ceci permet un contrôle joint d’équipements hétérogènes. Nous considérons trois types d’architectures de contrôle à savoir: des solutions centralisées, partiellement distribuées et entièrement distribuées. Ces architectures diffèrent dans la distribution de la prise de décision entre les entités impliquées dans le contrôle et les données qui sont mis à disposition de ces entités. The Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm brings an opportunity for advanced Demand Response (DR) solutions. Indeed, it enables visibility and control on the various appliances that may consume, store or generate energy within a home. In this thesis, we consider solutions having the capability to produce direct control decisions at different granularities based on variables measured at homes. Control schemes are driven by an optimization based on utility functions. These functions are defined based on a generic approach that considers load’s flexibility and the impact of control decisions on users. The proposed approach does not impose any restrictions on the type of controlled appliances nor on the granularity of control decisions. This enables joint control of heterogeneous loads. We consider three types of control architectures, namely centralized, partially distributed and fully distributed solutions. Schemes based on these architectures differ in the distribution of decision making among entities involved in the control and data that is made available to these entities. Numerical analysis shows the trade-offs of proposed solutions from a performance, scalability and complexity perspectives

AbstractShock Wave Therapy (SWT) meets all the requirements for the ideal non-invasive scar treatment. It is safe, well tolerated by patients, cost-effective, easy to apply, has low complication rates, and can be used in an outpatient setting. The overall effect of SWT is an improvement of tissue homeostasis, accompanied by an improvement of the tissue self-healing abilities, and it seems to focus on inducing tissue regeneration and matrix remodeling in vivo by means of mechanotransduction.SWT has a beneficial effect on wound healing and is characterized by an upregulation of the angio-active factors as nitric oxide (NO) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) leading to induced angiogenesis. A downregulation of alpha-SMA expression, myofibroblast phenotype, TGF-β1 expression, fibronectin, and collagen type I are measured after SWT on scars, leading to improvement of several relevant scar parameters like height, pliability, vascularity, and pigmentation, and thus ameliorating function.For a full treatment outline, the energy flux density (EFD), the number of pulses, the pulse frequency, and the number and interval of treatments are the most relevant parameters. The EFD for soft tissue indications is typically in the range of 0.08–0.25 mJ/mm2, while scars and fibrosis are treated with an EFD ranging between 0.15 and 0.33 mJ/mm2. These settings seem to be ideal to induce the optimal cell responses for each indication.All the presented findings are fundamental knowledge for further investigation of SWT to reduce the fibrous component in regenerating and remodeling tissues. However, the full potential of SWT in wound healing and scar treatment needs further unraveling.

Les théories du sensemaking, ou fabrication de sens, analysent la manière dont ceux qui participent à une action, et qui sont confrontés à une interruption, répondent à deux questions: Que se passe-t-il? Que faut-il faire maintenant? Les personnes plongées dans l’action ont souvent des difficultés à rester au contact du monde, et cette faillite de la fabrication du sens peut avoir des conséquences dramatiques. En s’appuyant sur de nombreuses études de cas, les auteurs présentent les fondements de la théorie du sensemaking — due au célèbre psychosociologue américain Karl Weick — et ses principaux apports. Le document s’intéresse aux différents facteurs et éléments influençant la capacité des participants à une action à rester en «contact» avec ce qu’il se passe dans «le monde». Notamment, il examine les difficultés à détecter des signes de dégradations de la sécurité, à signaler des anomalies, à adapter son action et à improviser de façon appropriée face à des situations imprévues. Анотація:
The purpose of the study is to identify the figurative means in the formal diplomatic texts of speeches of chief delegates of the Ukrainian SSR to exert influence at the sessions of the UN General Assembly. Based on the interpretive method of speech analysis and the method of generalisation of the data obtained, an attempt was made to identify the main figurative means and expressiveness of speech, which help to achieve the effect of influence on the reader (listener). In order to identify hidden meanings, a hermeneutic approach to understanding texts was used. According to the results of the study, the most actively used linguistic means of figurativeness in the considered texts are epithets, metaphors, phraseologies. There are many more negative epithets used in the texts of speeches than positive ones, which aim to make people aware of the idea of self-preservation, to arouse emotions of anxiety, fear, vigilance. Metaphors of positive and negative evaluation are used to verbalise mental states, social states and thought processes. Most of the epithets, metaphors, idioms represented in the text are used to denote a negative evaluation, which is perceived as a deviation from the norm and is motivated by the following factors: the reluctance of people to take positive action, irresponsible attitude of some people towards others, socially unacceptable flaws and shortcomings. A logical continuation of this study is the analysis of linguistic means of figurativeness and evaluativity of other types of texts of the official style, including statements and conventions.

This work performed measurement and verification of installed, operational solar wall systems at Fort Drum, NY, and Forbes Field, Air National Guard, Topeka, KS. Actual annual savings were compared estimated savings generated by a solar wall modeling tool (RETScreen). A comparison with the RETScreen modeling tool shows that the measured actively heated air provided by the solar wall provides 57% more heat than the RETScreen tool predicted, after accounting for boiler efficiency. The solar wall at Fort Drum yields a net savings of $851/yr, for a simple payback of 146 years and a SIR of 0.16. RETScreen models indicate that the solar wall system at Forbes Field, Kansas Air National Guard, Topeka, KS saves $9,350/yr, for a simple payback of 58.8 years and a SIR of 0.34. Although results showed that, due to low natural gas prices, the Fort Drum system was not economically viable, it was recommended that the system still be used to meet renewable energy and fossil fuel reduction goals. The current system becomes economical (SIR 1.00) at a natural gas rate of $16.00/MMBTU or $1.60 /therm.

Hablar de dirección estratégica es hablar de balanced scorecard; su enfoque que solo busca integrar la estrategia y la evaluación del negocio ha mostrado ser productora de grandes resultados. La herramienta BSC crea un vínculo permanente entre cuadro dimensiones críticas para el éxito de cualquier organización; las finanzas, los clientes, el aprendizaje y crecimiento, finalmente el negocio interno. La inmersión de una empresa a nuevos mercados y la globalización de los negocios exigen que se aborden nuevas formas de armar las estrategias empresariales.

Con el presente trabajo se busca analizar la oferta académica presentada por las instituciones de educación superior presentes en el sur del departamento de Sucre en la región caribe colombiana, contrastándola con el potencial productivo y la vocación de sus habitantes para saber que tanto aporta dicha oferta al desarrollo a partir de su labor como actores importantes y activos dentro del departamento, de esta manera, se puede identificar cuáles con las necesidades académicas que se requiere suplir para desarrollar el potencial productivo de la región. La investigación consta de tres objetivos específicos que permiten saber que tan engranada esta la academia con el desarrollo productivo de la región, se desarrolla a través de la revisión de fuentes secundarias para obtener la información relevante para el estudio y por medio de fuentes primarias a través de entrevista a expertos de la zona para obtener información de primera mano que permita conocer la satisfacción y expectativa de sus habitantes.

El programa de Psicología de la Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, sede Villavicencio, se destaca por su participación en diversos proyectos y programas con enfoque psicosocial a través de los cuales promueve los atributos de proyecto educativo institucional (PEI). En este sentido, para el 2022, participa de manera activa en el programa de alfabetización “Yo sí Puedo Cambiar la Historia" con el objetivo de alfabetizar a 1500 personas en el municipio de Villavicencio. Desde el área de la psicología social, se busca realizar un programa de formación para educadores teniendo como base los principios y las estrategias de intervención psicosocial con la finalidad de transformar entornos sociales, fomentando el fortalecimiento del ser político, social y cultural. Lo anterior se lleva a cabo a través de seis encuentros en los que los educadores y profesionales en formación realizan ejercicios de participación ciudadana, basados en las travesías que están contempladas en el Manual de Implementación del Modelo Educativo Flexible PACES. Esto les permite generar conocimiento a través de las experiencias y la cotidianidad, así como los orienta a reconstruir el tejido social en los puntos formativos de alfabetización dispuestos en ese municipio.

Анотація:
The general objective of this BARD project focused on rationally designed insect neuropeptide (NP) agonists and antagonists, their application for the characterization of the mechanisms of action of the pyrokinin/PBAN (PK-PBAN) family and the development of biostable, bioavailable versions that can provide the basis for development of novel, environmentally-friendly pest insect control agents. The specific objectives of the study, as originally proposed, were to: (i) Test stimulatory potencies of rationally designed backbone cyclic (BBC) peptides on pheromonotropic, melanotropic, myotropic and pupariation activities; (ii) Test the inhibitory potencies of the BBC compounds on the above activities evoked either by synthetic peptides (PBAN, LPK, myotropin and pheromonotropin) or by the natural endogenous mechanism; (iii) Determine the bioavailability of the most potent BBC compounds that will be found in (ii); (iv) Design, synthesize and examine novel PK/PBAN analogs with enhanced bioavailability and receptor binding; (v) Design and synthesize ‘magic bullet’ analogs and examine their ability to selectively kill cells expressing the PK/PBAN receptor. To achieve these goals the agonistic and antagonistic activities/properties of rationally designed linear and BBC neuropeptide (NP) were thoroughly studied and the information obtained was further used for the design and synthesis of improved compounds toward the design of an insecticide prototype. The study revealed important information on the structure activity relationship (SAR) of agonistic/antagonistic peptides, including definitive identification of the orientation of the Pro residue as trans for agonist activity in 4 PK/PBANbioassays (pheromonotropic, pupariation, melanotropic, & hindgut contractile) and a PK-related CAP₂b bioassay (diuretic); indications that led to the identification of a novel scaffold to develop biostbiostable, bioavailable peptidomimetic PK/PBANagonists/antagonists. The work led to the development of an arsenal of PK/PBAN antagonists with a variety of selectivity profiles; whether between different PKbioassays, or within the same bioassay between different natural elicitors. Examples include selective and non-selective BBC and novel amphiphilic PK pheromonotropic and melanotropic antagonists some of which are capable of penetrating the moth cuticle in efficacious quantities. One of the latter analog group demonstrated unprecedented versatility in its ability to antagonize a broad spectrum of pheromonotropic elicitors. A novel, transPro mimetic motif was proposed & used to develop a strong, selective PK agonist of the melanotropic bioassay in moths. The first antagonist (pure) of PK-related CAP₂b diuresis in flies was developed using a cisPro mimetic motif; an indication that while a transPro orientation is associated with receptor agonism, a cisPro orientation is linked with an antagonist interaction. A novel, biostablePK analog, incorporating β-amino acids at key peptidase-susceptible sites, exhibited in vivo pheromonotropic activity that by far exceeded that of PBAN when applied topically. Direct analysis of neural tissue by state-of-the-art MALDI-TOF/TOF mass spectrometry was used to identify specific PK/PK-related peptides native to eight arthropod pest species [house (M. domestica), stable (S. calcitrans), horn (H. irritans) & flesh (N. bullata) flies; Southern cattle fever tick (B. microplus), European tick (I. ricinus), yellow fever mosquito (A. aegypti), & Southern Green Stink Bug (N. viridula)]; including the unprecedented identification of mass-identical Leu/Ile residues and the first identification of NPs from a tick or the CNS of Hemiptera. Evidence was obtained for the selection of Neb-PK-2 as the primary pupariation factor of the flesh fly (N. bullata) among native PK/PK-related candidates. The peptidomic techniques were also used to map the location of PK/PK-related NP in the nervous system of the model fly D. melanogaster. Knowledge of specific PK sequences can aid in the future design of species specific (or non-specific) NP agonists/antagonists. In addition, the study led to the first cloning of a PK/PBAN receptor from insect larvae (S. littoralis), providing the basis for SAR analysis for the future design of 2ⁿᵈgeneration selective and/or nonselective agonists/antagonists. Development of a microplate ligand binding assay using the PK/PBAN pheromone gland receptor was also carried out. The assay will enable screening, including high throughput, of various libraries (chemical, molecular & natural product) for the discovery of receptor specific agonists/antagonists. In summary, the body of work achieves several key milestones and brings us significantly closer to the development of novel, environmentally friendly pest insect management agents based on insect PK/PBANNPs capable of disrupting critical NP-regulated functions.
