Анотація:
The wave dynamic differential logic (WDDL) has been identified as a promising countermeasure to increase the robustness of cryptographic devices against differential power attacks (DPA). However, to guarantee the effectiveness of WDDL technique, the routing in both the direct and complementary paths must be balanced. This paper tackles the problem of unbalance of dual-railsignals in WDDL design. We describe placement techniques suitable for tree-based and mesh-based FPGAs and quantify the gain they confer. Then, we introduce a timing-balance-driven routing algorithm which is architecture independent. Our placement and routing techniques proved to be very promising. In fact, they achieve a gain of 95%, 93%, and 85% in delay balance in tree-based, simple mesh, and cluster-based mesh architectures, respectively. To reduce further the switch and delay unbalance in Mesh architecture, we propose a differential pair routing algorithm that is specific to cluster-based mesh architecture. It achieves perfectly balanced routed signals in terms of wire length and switch number.

Abstract This study is centered around a set of research questions that aim to explain how sustainability balanced scorecard architectures with sustainability parameters either embedded or treated as a separate perspective relate to environmental investment decision-making. The research also examines the mediating role of sustainability balanced scorecard knowledge and moderating role of strategic risk information. This article presents the results and answers to the research questions via conducting an experimental study approach using a two-factor factorial design. This is possibly the first study that determines, through an experimental procedure conducted with managers working in large manufacturing companies, whether any significant difference exists in environmental investment decision outcomes when decision-makers are presented with either an architecture where sustainability is embedded with the traditional four perspectives of balanced scorecards versus when it is presented as a separate fifth perspective. Furthermore, the development of an integrated model is possibly a significant contribution to the extant literature.

Fifty years ago, John von Neumann compared the architecture of the brain with that of the computers he invented and which are still in use today. In those days, the organization of computers was based on concepts of brain organization. Here, we give an update on current results on the global organization of neural systems. For neural systems, we outline how the spatial and topological architecture of neuronal and cortical networks facilitates robustness against failures, fast processing and balanced network activation. Finally, we discuss mechanisms of self-organization for such architectures. After all, the organization of the brain might again inspire computer architecture.

In the art of environmental design, architecture, landscape architecture and interiors need to be balanced through interdisciplinary collaborative planning to enhance the psycho-emotional quality of environment, and in this respect, the study of the interaction of landscapes and indoor space through comparative analysis and inductive reference continue. Enclosed by evergreen Vacciniosa type of forest, the impressive building of the new Roja Stage / Summer Concert Hall has been standing proudly on the shores of the Gulf of Riga since 2019. The building actively contrasts with the surrounding landscape. The language of architectural forms in glass and concrete is geometrically sharp, saturated with broken lines and planes in contrast to the adjacent natural landscape, pine forest. The specific detailed case study underlines the importance of balanced interdisciplinary collaboration in harmonious interaction between architecture, landscape and indoor space.

This paper presents the first study of an asynchronous AES architecture compliant with the NIST standard. It exploits the fundamental properties of quasi delay insensitive asynchronous circuits. First, 1 to N encoding is extensively used in order to minimize hardware cost, thus optimizing area and speed. Most importantly, it is shown how the quasi delay insensitive logic style gives the opportunity to design balanced architectures, particularly well suited to improve differential power analysis resistance. Indeed, the proposed design methodology enables the generation of logic circuits which always involve a constant number of logical transitions, independently of data values processed by the circuit. Based on a 32-bit data-path, a balanced and optimized QDI asynchronous architecture of the AES is described. In addition, several architecture trade-offs are considered, and their area and speed estimated. Simulation results show that with the proposed design approach, throughputs ranging from 36 Mbit/s to more than 569 Mbit/s can be achieved, well suited to target smart-card applications.

Epilepsy is a chronic noncommunicable brain disease. Manual inspection of long-term Electroencephalogram (EEG) records for detecting epileptic seizures or other diseases that lasted several days or weeks is a time-consuming task. Therefore, this research proposes a novel epileptic seizure classification architecture called the Deep Batch Normalization Neural Network (Deep BN3), a BN3 architecture with a deeper layer to classify big epileptic seizure data accurately. The raw EEG signals are first to cut into pieces and passed through the bandpass filter. The dataset is very imbalanced, so an undersampling technique was used to produce a balanced sample of data for the training and testing dataset. Furthermore, the balanced data is used to train the Deep BN3 architecture. The resulting model classifies the EEG signal as an epileptic seizure or non-seizure. The classification of epileptic seizures using Deep BN3 obtained pretty good results compared to other architectures used in this research, with an accuracy of 53.61%.

We study the problem of memory capacity in balanced networks of spiking neurons. Associative memories are represented by either synfire chains (SFC) or Hebbian cell assemblies (HCA). Both can be embedded in these balanced networks by a proper choice of the architecture of the network. The size WE of a pool in an SFC or of an HCA is limited from below and from above by dynamical considerations. Proper scaling of WE by √K, where K is the total excitatory synaptic connectivity, allows us to obtain a uniform description of our system for any given K. Using combinatorial arguments, we derive an upper limit on memory capacity. The capacity allowed by the dynamics of the system, αc, is measured by simulations. For HCA, we obtain αc of order 0.1, and for SFC, we find values of order 0.065. The capacity can be improved by introducing shadow patterns, inhibitory cell assemblies that are fed by the excitatory assemblies in both memory models. This leads to a doubly balanced network, where, in addition to the usual global balancing of excitation and inhibition, there exists specific balance between the effects of both types of assemblies on the background activity of the network. For each of the memory models and for each network architecture, we obtain an allowed region (phase space) for WE √K in which the model is viable.

<p class="0abstract">Internetworking of different types of networks is envisaged as one of the primary objectives of the future 5G networks. Integrated Internet-MANET is a heterogeneous networking architecture which is the result of interconnecting wired Internet and wireless MANET. Multiprotocol gateways are used to achieve this interconnection. There are two types of Integrated Internet-MANET architectures, two-tier and three-tier. A combination of two-tier and three tier architectures also exists, called the Hybrid Framework or Hybrid Integrated Internet-MANET. Some of the most important issues common to all Integrated Internet-MANET architecture are: efficient gateway discovery, mobile node registration and gateway load balancing. Adaptive WLB-AODV is an existing protocol which addresses the issues of Gateway load balancing and efficient Gateway discovery. In this paper, an improvement is proposed to Adaptive WLB-AODV, called Adaptive Modified-WLV-AODV by taking into account route latency. The proposed protocol has been implemented in Hybrid Integrated Internet-MANET and has been simulated using network simulation tool ns-2. Based on the simulation results, it is observed that the proposed protocol delivers better performance than the existing protocol in terms of performance metrics end-to-end delay and packet loss ratio. The performance of the proposed protocol is further optimized using a genetic algorithm.</p>

This paper introduces a novel architecture of reconfigurable balanced (differential) dualband bandstop filter (BSF). In differential mode (DM), each symmetrical bisection of the filter incorporates in-series cascade of two tunable dualband bandstop sections whereas high CMRR is achieved by loading open stubs to the symmetry plane of the branch line structure. To validate the proposed topology, a microstrip prototype is designed and fabricated. Both simulation and measured results show a good agreement with each other.

This relationship is based on providing humans with their needs and it aims to find appropriate solutions to the problems facing them. Additions that can be added to the architectural product such as motion help in activating the interaction in this relationship. The movement is added to the architectural output to express a new relationship between the environment and the human who was affected by the existence of motors and its utilitarian, technical, and aesthetic issues. The research focuses on how these effects can be exploited to solve problems like energy consumption that is a main problem in the construction process.

The Basic Linear Algebra Subprograms (BLAS) is a fundamental numerical software and GEneral Matrix Multiply (GEMM) is the most important computational kernel routine in the BLAS library. On multi-core and many-core processors, the whole workload of GEMM is partitioned and scheduled to multiple threads to exploit the parallel hardware. Generally, the workload is equally partitioned among threads and all threads are expected to accomplish their work in roughly the same time. However, this is not the case on Non-Uniform Memory Access (NUMA) architectures. The NUMA effect may cause threads to run at different speeds, and the overall executing times of GEMM is determined by the slowest thread. In this paper, we propose a hybrid-grained dynamic load-balancing method to reduce the harm of the NUMA effect by allowing fast threads to steal work from slow ones. We evaluate the proposed method on Phytium 2000+, an emerging 64-core high-performance processor based on Arm’s AArch64 architecture. Results show that our method reduces the synchronization overhead by 51.5% and achieves an improvement of GEMM performance by 1.9%.

Abstract HVAC proliferation has had a lasting effect on architecture, forcing buildings to comply with the infrastructural and newly acquired physiological requirements. Daniel A. Barber argues that air conditioning successfully hijacked modernist internationalism and turned it into an essential tool for extracting and concentrating wealth. In the sustainability discourse, modernist architecture is often blamed for practices and design-logics that are not ecologically conscious. On the other hand, despite ongoing efforts by academics and practitioners to deconstruct current notions of sustainability, sustainability is yet to integrate the rich contributions of modernism. The paper investigates how Egyptian pre-HVAC modern architecture addressed contemporary sustainability concerns through a structured thematic analysis of Egyptian Modernist Sayed Karim’s (1911-2005) work. Different features are extracted and mapped in the analysis of four cases to study how the architect balanced between the ecological, social/cultural, aesthetic, and functional motives. Some elements, such as zoning and shared or common spaces, strike a balance between these dimensions and instigate a rethinking of what Egyptian modernists can offer to the sustainable design field. The analysis presented opens a new venue for how today’s sustainable architecture movement can benefit from Global South modernism, taking passive ventilation strategies as precedent.

SUMMARYA practical architecture, using a four-bar-linkage, is considered for the University of Minnesota direct drive rotot. This statically-balanced direct drive robot has been constructed for stability analysis of the robot in constrained maneuvers.2–6 As a result of the elimination of the gravity forces (without any counter weights), smaller actuators and consequently smaller amplifiers were chosen. The motors yield acceleration of 5 g at the robot end point without overheating. High torque, low speed, brush-less AC synchronous motors are used to power the robot. Graphite-epoxy composite material is used for the construction of the robot links. A 4-node parallel processor has been used to control the robot. The dynamic tracking accuracy-with the feedforward torque method as a control law- has been derived experimentally.

The balanced distribution of multimedia wireless network modular teaching resources is improved by optimizing and adjusting the balanced distribution of multimedia wireless network modular teaching resources. Based on block grid balanced scheduling and resource spectrum fusion, a balanced distribution method of multimedia wireless network modular teaching resources is proposed. A blockchain Internet of Things accesses control network architecture system for the balanced allocation of multimedia wireless network modular teaching resources established using the priority business scheduling method. Modular resource allocation of multimedia wireless networks and adaptive forwarding are adjusted to control the data packets. The bandwidth guarantee mechanism is used for the equitable allocation of multimedia wireless network modular teaching resources information flow. Multi-service hierarchical management of multimedia wireless network modular teaching resources spectrum is controlled by block grid balanced scheduling and resource spectrum fusion. The high-energy physical computing system structure is used to allocate the resource spectrum balance of the modular teaching resources of the multimedia wireless networks, ensuring the bandwidth requirements of various services. The classified management and balanced allocation of the multimedia wireless networks’ teaching storage, system, and teaching spectrum resources are made possible. The results of the tests show that this method effectively reduces the delay in the allocation of modular multimedia wireless network teaching resources, improves the utilization rate of modular multimedia wireless network teaching resources, and significantly improves their reading and writing performance.

A parsimonious convolutional neural network (CNN) for text document classification that replicates the ease of use and high classification performance of linear methods is presented. This new CNN architecture can leverage locally trained latent semantic analysis (LSA) word vectors. The architecture is based on parallel 1D convolutional layers with small window sizes, ranging from 1 to 5 words. To test the efficacy of the new CNN architecture, three balanced text datasets that are known to perform exceedingly well with linear classifiers were evaluated. Also, three additional imbalanced datasets were evaluated to gauge the robustness of the LSA vectors and small window sizes. The new CNN architecture consisting of 1 to 4-grams, coupled with LSA word vectors, exceeded the accuracy of all linear classifiers on balanced datasets with an average improvement of 0.73%. In four out of the total six datasets, the LSA word vectors provided a maximum classification performance on par with or better than word2vec vectors in CNNs. Furthermore, in four out of the six datasets, the new CNN architecture provided the highest classification performance. Thus, the new CNN architecture and LSA word vectors could be used as a baseline method for text classification tasks.

This work discusses various compiler level global scheduling techniques for multicore processors. The main contribution of the work is to delegate the job of exploiting fine grained parallelism to the compiler, thereby reducing the hardware overhead and the programming complexity. This goal is achieved by decomposing a sequential program into multiple subblocks and constructing subblock dependency graph (SDG). The proposed schedulers select subblocks from the SDG and schedules it on different cores, by ensuring the correct order of execution of subblocks. In conjunction with parallelization techniques, locality optimizations are performed to minimize communication overhead between the cores. The results observed are indicative of better and balanced speed-up per watt.

This article presents a new K-band absorptive bandpass filter (ABPF) based on a microwave balanced recursive architecture. The proposed structure was configured using two passive microwave hybrid couplers, two conventional bandpass filters (BPFs), and a recursive path control module consisting of a phase shifter and an optionally variable gain amplifier. Using the proposed structure, stable return characteristics that were insensitive to the output load variation in the passband, a reduction in standing wave due to absorption in the stopband, and potentially high reliability could be achieved. Furthermore, since the same BPFs were reused, the electrical filtering order within the given physical BPF stages could be increased effectively. The proposed architecture was verified by comparing it with the performance of the conventional two-stage cascaded BPF. The measured results showed a 3 dB passband at 280 MHz with the center frequency at 19.9 GHz and improved roll-off characteristics. Furthermore, the stopband showed the reflectionless characteristic with the return loss being better than 7 dB.

Performance evaluation is crucial for environmental design and sustainable development, especially so for architecture and landscape architecture. However, such performance evaluations remain rare in practice. It is argued that the concerns over potential negative evaluations and a lack of funding are the two main barriers preventing the undertaking of performance evaluations. This research investigated how these two barriers were overcome in practice by studying 41 evaluation cases in the New Zealand landscape architecture field, as well as several international and architectural case studies for comparison. A range of enablers for performance evaluation practices were identified by this research, including funding sources and models that were not documented by existing literature, as well as two strategies for handling the risks of negative evaluation. All of the identified enablers share the same underlying logic—the benefits and costs of an evaluation should be well-regulated by certain mechanisms to keep the benefits of an evaluation greater than, or at least balanced with, the costs, for all the parties involved in the evaluation.

Abstract The representation of modernism in architecture was affected by various determinants which were related to the technical, economic, and social circumstances of the period. The decade when modernism began to be seen in the architectural sphere was marked with aims to create new building forms associated with the ambition for a more socially balanced and egalitarian form of society in which the ideals of equal rights and liberation would be realised. However, establishing equality-based communities, adjusting the housing problem, and creating new universal values dismissed the connection with the tradition. This paper aims to analyse the dialect of modernism in Kaunas, Lithuania, and its characteristics by investigating its various physical nuances and invisible social context, which makes it distinguished when compared with the modernist language in the same period. Furthermore, it focuses on the experimental architectural language and the urban planning trends of the interwar period Kaunas through analysis of values in local architecture and urban planning levels to conduct its integrity.

This paper presents optimized implementations of two different pipeline FFT processors on Xilinx Spartan-3 and Virtex-4 FPGAs. Different optimization techniques and rounding schemes were explored. The implementation results achieved better performance with lower resource usage than prior art. The 16-bit 1024-point FFT with the R22SDF architecture had a maximum clock frequency of 95.2 MHz and used 2802 slices on the Spartan-3, a throughput per area ratio of 0.034 Msamples/s/slice. The R4SDC architecture ran at 123.8 MHz and used 4409 slices on the Spartan-3, a throughput per area ratio of 0.028 Msamples/s/slice. On Virtex-4, the 16-bit 1024-point R22SDF architecture ran at 235.6 MHz and used 2256 slice, giving a 0.104 Msamples/s/slice ratio; the 16-bit 1024-point R4SDC architecture ran at 219.2 MHz and used 3064 slices, giving a 0.072 Msamples/s/slice ratio. The R22SDF was more efficient than the R4SDC in terms of throughput per area due to a simpler controller and an easier balanced rounding scheme. This paper also shows that balanced stage rounding is an appropriate rounding scheme for pipeline FFT processors.

The monumental architecture of Chaco Canyon, New Mexico was constructed to convey, reinforce, and challenge ideas about social, ritual, and cosmological order. The concept of social memory can help clarify how architecture was employed in the transformation of Chacoan society at the beginning of the Late Bonito phase (A.D. 1100–1140). During the preceding century, Classic Bonito phase architecture expressed basic tenets of a Chacoan worldview—directionality, balanced dualism, and the canyon as a center place. At the beginning of the Late Bonito phase, confidence in the Chacoan ritual order was shaken by environmental and social developments. Leaders sought to re-formalize Chaco as a center place by instituting a new building scheme. Six new great houses were positioned on the landscape in a patterned, nested series of oppositional relationships. This re-formalization of the Chacoan landscape was legitimated through direct alignments and indirect architectural references to the Classic Bonito past. The new buildings were meant to bolster confidence in leaders and to attract followers by offering a combination of the familiar and the novel.

The authors present a WDM (Wavelength-Division Multiplexing) based all-optical network architecture, and study scheduled routing on it. Their architecture can be seen as a communication system of parallel multi-core computer or a large-scale high bandwidth routing switch of e.g., telecommunication network. The goal is to construct such a scalable architecture and a supporting routing protocol for it so that no electro-optical conversions are needed on the routing paths, all packets are routed along one of the shortest paths, processor nodes can inject packets constantly into the network, and all the packets injected into the routing machinery reach their targets without collisions. The authors’ CSOT is a sparse network. A large fraction of the nodes are intermediate nodes instead of processor nodes. Only the processor nodes are sources and sinks of packets. The number of all nodes is and is the number of processor nodes in our construction. For scheduled routing to work, the authors consider routing problems as a set of h-relations. They achieved work-optimal routing of -relations for a reasonable size of . The efficiency of routing is based on routing latency hiding which is made possible by WDM and sparseness based increase bandwidth per processor node.

Semantic segmentation, as a pixel-level recognition task, has been widely used in a variety of practical scenes. Most of the existing methods try to improve the performance of the network by fusing the information of high and low layers. This kind of simple concatenation or element-wise addition will lead to the problem of unbalanced fusion and low utilization of inter-level features. To solve this problem, we propose the Inter-Level Feature Balanced Fusion Network (IFBFNet) to guide the inter-level feature fusion towards a more balanced and effective direction. Our overall network architecture is based on the encoder–decoder architecture. In the encoder, we use a relatively deep convolution network to extract rich semantic information. In the decoder, skip-connections are added to connect and fuse low-level spatial features to restore a clearer boundary expression gradually. We add an inter-level feature balanced fusion module to each skip connection. Additionally, to better capture the boundary information, we added a shallower spatial information stream to supplement more spatial information details. Experiments have proved the effectiveness of our module. Our IFBFNet achieved a competitive performance on the Cityscapes dataset with only finely annotated data used for training and has been greatly improved on the baseline network.

Advanced microelectromechanical system (MEMS) magnetic field sensor applications demand ultra-high detectivity down to the low magnetic fields. To enhance the detection limit of the magnetic sensor, a resistance compensator integrated self-balanced bridge type sensor was devised for low-frequency noise reduction in the frequency range of 0.5 Hz to 200 Hz. The self-balanced bridge sensor was a NiFe (10 nm)/IrMn (10 nm) bilayer structure in the framework of planar Hall magnetoresistance (PHMR) technology. The proposed resistance compensator integrated with a self-bridge sensor architecture presented a compact and cheaper alternative to marketable MEMS MR sensors, adjusting the offset voltage compensation at the wafer level, and led to substantial improvement in the sensor noise level. Moreover, the sensor noise components of electronic and magnetic origin were identified by measuring the sensor noise spectral density as a function of temperature and operating power. The lowest achievable noise in this device architecture was estimated at ~3.34 nV/Hz at 100 Hz.

Ternary content-addressable memories (TCAMs) are used to design high-speed search engines. TCAM is implemented on application-specific integrated circuit (native TCAMs) and field-programmable gate array (FPGA) (static random-access memory (SRAM)-based TCAMs) platforms but both have the drawback of high power consumption. This paper presents a pre-classifier-based architecture for an energy-efficient SRAM-based TCAM. The first classification stage divides the TCAM table into several sub-tables of balanced size. The second SRAM-based implementation stage maps each of the resultant TCAM sub-tables to a separate row of configured SRAM blocks in the architecture. The proposed architecture selectively activates at most one row of SRAM blocks for each incoming TCAM word. Compared with the existing SRAM-based TCAM designs on FPGAs, the proposed design consumes significantly reduced energy as it activates a part of SRAM memory used for lookup rather than the entire SRAM memory as in the previous schemes. We implemented the proposed approach sample designs of size 512 × 36 on Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGA. The experimental results showed that the proposed design achieved at least three times lower power consumption per performance than other SRAM-based TCAM architectures.
