Анотація:

The sense and modern scientific approaches to the notion of “convergence” are substantiated in the paper; its role is described in the process of development of territories, in particular of bordering regions and neighboring states as a whole. It is underlined, that that a brand new construction of economic equilibrium and rapprochement of certain economic systems, economic and social policies of different states is formed on the base of convergent relations. It is proved, that convergent processes have to take place both inside of the state and at bordering territories of neighboring states, which form crossborder region and are decisive for processes of integration in general.

Анотація:

A critical review of neoclassical and new economic theories on their correspondence to empirical results for economic development has been made. In the light of these theories, three leading hypotheses for convergence have been considered -- "unconditional β-convergence", "conditional β-convergence" and "club convergence". An assessment was made, for the existence of economic convergence in the EU countries at different levels EU-28, EU-15 and the new member states of Central and Eastern Europe, for the period 2007 - 2017 Based on the obtained results, some summaries and conclusions are made.

This study investigates the convergence mechanism of Dohsa-hou and psychomotorik with the motto of movement according to the changes of the times due to the rise of the 4th industrial revolution of creativity and convergence with the motto of movement according to the changes of the times due to the rise of the 4th industrial revolution of creativity and convergence. Therefore, the theoretical and practical contents of Dohsa-hou and psychomotorik were examined, and the possibility of convergence was explored through the ultimate purpose and direction pursued by the two theories. This study found common ground between the two theories to find out the possibility of convergence between the two, proving their effectiveness in the field of educational practice. Through prior research on the two theories and analysis of practical clinical processes, five common points were found as core values, characteristics, and adjustment methods of the two theories. They are the commonality of self-directed approach through self-regulation, the commonalities of exercise-based education, a general approach as a dynamic relationship between the body and mind, the commonalities of education through experience, and the common point of applying the principle of physical contact. Based on the five commonalities, the possibility of convergence of the two theories is sufficient. Exploring the possibility of convergence between the two theories is only an academic curiosity and an enterprising idea as a scholar who combines the two theories in the process of mediating and supporting the educational subject.

ABSTRACTFollowing the standard practice in sociology, cultural anthropology and history, sociologists, historians of science and some philosophers of science define scientific communities as groups with shared beliefs, values and practices. In this paper it is argued that in real cases the beliefs of the members of such communities often vary significantly in important ways. This has rather dire implications for the convergence defense against the charge of the excessive subjectivity of subjective Bayesianism because that defense requires that communities of Bayesian inquirers share a significant set of modal beliefs. The important implication is then that given the actual variation in modal beliefs across individuals, either Bayesians cannot claim that actual theories have been objectively confirmed or they must accept that such theories have been confirmed relative only to epistemically insignificant communities.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to assess orthodox theories of well-being in western civilization at first, and second, to investigate Islamic views regarding this concept. Then, comparing these two groups of views, it tries to show that there is a kind of convergence between them that it provides a common point for political aspect of well-being. Design/methodology/approach – To investigate this convergence, orthodox theories of well-being were analyzed critically and Islamic views were revealed. Both orthodox theories and Islamic views of well-being were discussed theoretically (not practically) via descriptive-analytical method and based on a philosophical approach. Since the problem that this paper is going to involve and resolve is conceptual (concept and nature of human well-being and finding a common point among different theories), so the proper method will be the descriptive-analytical and dialectic discussion. Findings – This paper found that, despite some similarities between orthodox theories and Islamic views of well-being, the most important difference between Avicenna and hedonistic view is his approach to the concept of enjoyment and his spreading of the meaning of it. Molla Sadra’s approach to well-being is close to the objective list theories of well-being – particularly that of Sen’s and Nussbaum’s. It is concluded that there is a convergence in theories based on movement from instrumental reason to the intellect in specification and investigation of people’s well-being and its elements. Social implications – There is a kind of convergence, so that we can achieve a common point which could be the base for policy making in national and international level to solve problems arising from complexity, ambiguity and boring and dismal disagreements regarding this concept which is an important obstacle in front of the policy makers. Moreover, moving from instrumental reason to the intellect and considering ethical virtues in people’s well-being could be helpful in removing some social problems such as conflicts between labor and employers and financial crises. Originality/value – Description and calcification theories of well-being especially for economists that they are very far from these subjects and introducing of Islamic views via philosophical approach is absolutely original in this paper. Moreover, paper attempts to show the convergence in orthodox theories and between orthodox and Islamic views in which it provides a common point for practical aspect of well-being.

We propose a new form of convergent weak coupling expansion for the lattice field theory. It has the advantage that it is very similar to standard (Feynman) perturbation theory. Convergence is proven for sufficiently weak local coupling, i.e. when the theory is close to a free field theory. In the proof, use of analyticity in field variables, as pioneered by Kupiainen and Gawedzki, is supplemented with techniques for handling derivatives with respect to free propagators.

This paper provides an evolutionary perspective on financial systems based on complex systems theory. This perspective is used to organize the discussion about the convergence and non-convergence of financial systems. Based on a notion of financial systems as configuration of complementary elements, it is suggested that the convergence of financial systems is best conceptualized as a path-dependent process of institutional change and innovation. The implication of the evolutionary perspective on the dynamics of financial systems is that neither convergence theories using a simple evolutionary argument of survival of the fittest nor divergence theories related to strong complementarities can provide much guidance for analyzing institutional transformations of financial systems.

Afro-Hispanic language is attested from the 15th century to the early 20th century in Spain, Africa, and Latin America. The speech of bozales (slaves born in Africa and speaking Spanish only imperfectly) has frequently been used as evidence for monogenetic theories of Hispanic Creole formation, based on structural parallels and possibly Afro-Portuguese roots. The present study reviews the principal Afro-Hispanic manifestations over a period of more than 300 years, and traces those structures most frequently cited in monogenetic Afro-Iberian theories. The overall conclusion is that, while such cases as Papiamentu, Colombian Palenquero, and 19th century Cuban/Puerto Rican bozal language point to common origins or mutually shared influences, most other Afro-Hispanic language forms suggest merely imperfect learning and incipient pidginiza-tion which arose spontaneously each time Spanish and African languages came into contact.

The infinite series is an infinite sum of elements of a sequence of real numbers. A main thing related to the infinite series is to determine its convergence (convergent or divergent). Purpose this research were to analyze and determine a comparison and characteristics of each convergence test, such as: D'Alembert test, Raabe test, Gauss's test, Cauchy's Root Test, and Logarithm Test. For large space dimensions, the log-linear convergence of the elitist evolution strategy with a 1/5 success rule on the sphere fitness function has been observed, experimentally, from the very beginning. Finding a mathematical proof took considerably more time. This paper presents a review and comparison of the most consistent theories developed so far, in the critical interpretation of the author, concerning both global convergence and the estimation of convergence rates. I discuss the local theory of the one-step expected progress and success probability for the (1+1) ES with a normal/uniform distribution inside the sphere mutation, thereby minimizing the SPHERE function, but also the adjacent global convergence and convergence rate theory, essentially based on the 1/5 rule. Small digressions into complementary theories (martingale, irreducible Markov chain, drift analysis) and different types of algorithms (population based, recombination, covariance matrix adaptation and self-adaptive ES) complete the review.

Анотація:

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the evidence and impact of the EU integration between 1999 and 2009 on the EU regional economic growth and the socio-economic convergence. A regional convergence analysis is performed in order to examine if the EU overall aim of convergence is reached. The main growth- and convergence theories are used as the theoretical framework and form the study's hypothesis. The results show that an absolute β-convergence exists between the EU member states as well as regions. However, the σ-convergence is not confirmed, meaning that that the disparities between the regions are rather increasing than decreasing. Perhaps a possible reason why the σ-convergence does not occur at the EU level is that it is easier for smaller regions which are more similar to each other to converge than for larger regions which tend to be more dissimilar to each other. This reasoning is in line with the convergence theories which state that smaller regions within a country are more likely to converge towards each other in the absolute sense than countries. On the other hand, the EU countries and regions tend to convergence in the tasks like unemployment rate, showing that they are not successful in resolving this difficult task. One of the main reasons of the high unemployment in all EU member states is their structural problem in the respective economies, consequently reflected in the long-term unemployment. The EU countries tend to convergence in terms of inequality as well, showing that they are egalitarian in character.

Foster and Moran (1985) assert that a convergence between Piaget's theory and the teaching style of Jesus will give us confidence in Piagetian theory. This response challenges their assertion on the grounds that: (a) the task of Christian psychology is to unfold the psychological dimension of God's creation, (b) it is inappropriate to use the Bible to confirm a psychological theory, and (c) critical analysis is what is needed in order to gain confidence in psychological theories. This response concludes that: (a) the approach taken by Foster and Moran (1985) hides certain weaknesses in Piaget's theory in the garb of biblical language, and (b) the Christian psychological community should engage in the critical analysis of psychological theories before it looks for biblical convergences.

The sociological concept of family has been introduced in the particle swarm optimization (PSO) and the family PSO (FPSO) has been proposed, in which the particle swarm consisted of different families, each family consisted of different members, and there were different constraint relationships between family members. To further study the sensitivity of FPSO to the control parameters, this paper proposed a special model of FPSO and analyzed the convergence of FPSO theoretically. This model offered a new view to research the particle trajectory and divided the position sequence of particle into the even and odd subsequences. By mathematical analysis, the condition of two subsequences convergence was obtained and the related convergent theories and corollaries were proved. Simulations for benchmark functions showed that the convergence behavior of model and experimental results provided a valuable guideline for selecting control parameters.

Based on the concept of limit of prefilters and residual implication, several notions in fuzzy topology are fuzzyfied in the sense that, for each notion, the degree to which it is fulfilled is considered. We establish therefore theories of degrees of compactness and relative compactness, of closedness, and of continuity. Our intention is to carry out an introductory comparative analysis of three relevant feminist approaches that divide the gender studies scene. Despite the risks, the methodological decision was made by theoretical research (Salvador, 1986; Apple, 1994), aware that it is politically informed, as theories reveal interests of the class, gender, sexuality, nation, race/ethnicity, generation, and are linked to social practice. To proceed with the study, we highlight three aspects, which are: the assumptions, the notion of gender, and the political commitment. The results we have reached inform about the existence of divergences and convergences between these feminist approaches, confirming the irreconcilable divergence between feminist historiography and poststructuralist feminism, inconsistent convergence between poststructuralist feminism, and decolonial feminism, and convergence between feminist historiography and decolonial feminism.Keywords: Feminist historiography. Linguistic humour studies have been undertaken from different perspectives. The present paper offers a review of the most influential theories seeking synergies and convergence between them under the umbrella of cognitive linguistics, and, more specifically, resorting to Langacker’s (2001) current discourse space (CDS) as the overall framework which can accommodate and encompass those perspectives, along with Fauconnier and Turner’s (2003) Conceptual Integration Theory. A sketch of various theories is included (Raskin, 1985; Attardo, 1994; Coulson, 2005a; Veale, 2015, etc.), along with an analysis of points of convergence and similarities as the rationale for bringing them together against the backdrop of the CDS.

The paper aims to develop a model of nonlinear economic growth — with simple assumptions — which explains both Japan’s S -shape convergence path and the UK’s declining path toward the US between 1870–2000, and the development of other countries, as well as post-war reconstruction. According to the model, progress in stock of knowledge is formed by a quadratic formula of the relative development of follower countries.The model draws on four recent theories. Firstly, Romer’s theory, which approaches a country’s level of development by using the number of its products (Romer 1990), secondly, Jones’ idea theory with a slight modification (Jones 2004), third, the theory of quality of institutions, which determines economic performance (North 1993), and finally, the theory of physical and human capital. The first part of the paper sets up the production function, the second determines the growth rate and analyses the reconstruction path, while the third draws up model forecasts.

Fundamental theories are studied for an Incomplete Generalized Minimal Residual Method(IGMRES(m)) in Krylov subspace. An algebraic equations generated from the IGMRES(m) algorithm is presented. The relationships are deeply researched for the algorithm convergence and the coefficient matrix of the equations. A kind of preconditioned method is proposed to improve the convergence of the IGMRES(m) algorithm. It is proved that the best convergence can be obtained through appropriate matrix decomposition.

This paper investigates the conflicting and contrasting views between two prominent schools of thought (SOT), the conventional project management empirical school and the incoming behavioural and psychological sciences, to explain the cost overrun phenomenon in transportation infrastructure projects. Although theories within these SOTs seem to coexist and are used interchangeably, there exists a widening knowledge gap that leads to conflicting and contrasting ideological views. In this paper, we contend that there is a lack of a cross-fertilisation mechanism to fuse and co-join contemporary theories on cost overruns. This has led to the encapsulation and fragmented adhocracy in theory building. Utilising a critical review approach, this study proposes the concepts of ideological distancing and encapsulation between “empiricism” and “behavioural” SOTs as the focus of analyses for understanding the root causes of cost overruns in project studies. The study showed that the extant debate on cost overruns is limited and divergent, effectively contributing to the problem of continued expansion and non-convergence of theories that maintain parallel identities. This creates a space for inquiry, reflecting, theorising, and debating for the convergence of SOTs on cost overrun research and theories on what can be deemed project knowledge. This paper contributes to extant project studies by identifying the need for convergence and co-joining theories with different epistemes through causal linkages. Consequently, this will improve the public sector’s infrastructure policymaking by exposing the theoretical limitations of the current ad hoc manner and application of project management concepts based on the project professionals’ bounded decision-making rationalities.

AbstractA classic version of convergence theory was proposed by Marion Levy (1966) as part of his theory of modernization: if and as the level of modernization increases (defined as a higher ratio of reliance upon inanimate energy and tools, relative to animate energy), the level of structural uniformity among relatively modernized societies continually increases. This hypothesis that there is more uniformity among modernized than among non-modernized societies is tested here with cross-national data from 148 non-modernized and 52 modernized societies. Using the coefficient of variation (V) as the measure of convergence, I analyze a wide range of variables: level of economic development, capitalist market economy, demographic variables, technology, the state and political democracy, cognitive modernization, health, income inequality and poverty, gender particularism-universalism, and information and communications. I find that the modernized societies do show more convergence (lower V scores) than the non-modernized societies on 49 of the 51 variables tested. Among the 21 societies that were already modernized in 1965, as they became more modernized during the period from1965 to the present, they also became more convergent on 32 of the 45 variables analyzed. Thus, variation in social structure is greater among less modernized than among more modernized societies, and this has implications for theories of globalization.

A behavioral dimension of impulse versus constraint has long been observed by personality psychologists. This article begins by reviewing processes underlying this dimension from the perspectives of several personality theories. Some cases of constraint reflect inhibition due to anxiety, but some theories suggest other roots for constraint. Theories from developmental psychology accommodate both possibilities by positing 2 sorts of control over action. These modes of influence strongly resemble those predicated in some personality theories and also 2 modes of function that are asserted by some cognitive and social psychological theories. Several further literatures are considered, to which 2-mode models seem to contribute meaningfully. The article closes by addressing questions raised by these ideas, including whether the issue of impulse versus constraint applies to avoidance as well as to approach.

Here, we unify a variety of influential explanations in a common decision framework, and identify the precise cognitive variables that norms might alter to induce compliance. Specifically, we situate current theories of norm compliance within the reinforcement learning framework, which is widely used to study value-guided learning and decision-making. This framework offers an appealingly precise language to distinguish between theories, highlights the various points of convergence and divergence, and suggests novel ways in which norms might penetrate our psychology.

The convergence of the two theories between non-Marxist structuralist conflict theory and Talcott Parsons’ functionalism structuralist one contributes to an alternative model of social political theory used as conflict resolution and crime in Indonesia.The mentioned theories could not be optimally applied in terms of political government system in Indonesia.Without the convergence of the two political theories, it is urgent to seek for a particular political theory accommodated the pluralistic society in Indonesian condition. In this scene, the government should construct reconciliation strategy. Reconciliation is present if only the government appreciatively opens a discussion type of initiative in decision making. It leads to accommodate the peaceful type of approach to conflicts.It is urgent, in this regard, to solve the issues of economy, education, welfare, integration, and tribes conflicts. If the government has a good will, it bore tostrong possibility in that conflicts and violence could be clearly anticipated in an immediate resolution.
