AbstractCultural institutions save most of their digital-born and digitalized content within the digital sphere. In doing so, they rely on cloud computing and servers, barely taking into consideration that this infrastructure may fail one day. Furthermore, the institutions seem to factor out that these attempts may be related to profound changes in the digital objects.Our paper aims to explore this situation by focusing on sustainability within the digital realm. In the deliberate process of saving born-digital content, should we run the risk of inadvertently losing the content’s individual character itself? Should we embrace the possibility that dynamic content might be transformed into purely static data – ceasing to be relevant for users?How can we find a solution, set between archiving and the continuous promotion of digital culture? Might it be, that born-digital cultural heritage is not made for storage? Has the eager preservation of cultural heritage become a historical oddity that will not last the test of time, due to its nature?

Health measures in response to the Covid-19 pandemic have confined millions to their homes and minimized social contacts. During this period, a significant proportion of social activities—including work, education, and recreation—moved to digital media platforms. Among these platforms, social virtual reality (VR) has gained importance offering “alternative” realities in which users can engage with others, participate in cultural and sports events, complete education-related activities, and (mental) health treatments, to name but a few functions. With the increasing popularity of social VR and the expanding range of activities these platforms can host, hitherto-unexplored questions arise regarding social interactions and the representation of virtual bodies. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to outline a potential framework for assessing how avatars that represent various body types and demographic characteristics, such as gender or ethnicity, may impact behaviors and identity. The paper presents a theoretical study that combines social identity theory and theories of intersectionality and applies them to the case of digitally created human-like bodies. By doing this, it illuminates the challenges and benefits virtual reality platforms and digital body representations hold—including remote social interactions due to social isolation and social dynamics based on online personas.

For the past 30 years museums and art galleries on both sides of the Atlantic have been resistant to exhibiting digital games as art and have instead embedded them in exhibitions and displays that have portrayed them as exemplars of design. This conservative approach has largely failed to achieve the stated purpose of many of these exhibitions: to foster a wider public appreciation for games and encourage more sophisticated conversations about gaming. This article argues that curators for video game exhibitions have been co-opted by the ideological norms of the tech sector which has produced a reluctance to engage critically with their subject matter and a willingness to overlook ethical problems within the videogame industry.

Signing documents is something that happens a lot in today’s society. Because of this, it is desired by many to be able to perform the signing procedure in and easy, effective and available way. To achieve this an online digital signing service application has been implemented in .NET. The resulting application uses the accepted Swedish authentication mechanism BankID to authenticate users, before allowing them to sign and manage documents. The application is a prototype but provides the desired functionality.The thesis also contains a theoretical study in the subject of web application security, presenting general web application attacks and weaknesses and how to deal with these.

The galvanic isolation of fibre optic transmission offers a distinct advantage in the design of a telemetry system to meet intrinsic safety requirements. So far the usage of fibre optics in instrumentation systems has been largely confined to the implementation of point to point links due to the difficulties encountered in tapping into an optical fibre. Recent developments in the use of intelligence within instrumentation systems, however, have generally tended to concentrate on the concept of multiplexed signal paths. The aim of the work here has been to realise an intrinsically safe fibre optic multi-drop bus utilising an unbroken fibre as the transmission path. The technique employed involves the modulation of light within the fibre using an acoustic wave to vary the characteristics of a multi- mode fibre resulting in a differential phase modulation of the propagating modes. Since the system is unidirectional the use of two-way protocols is precluded and instead the method adopted uses the technique of allowing collisions of data to occur on the basis that they can be detected and the corrupted data can be subsequently ignored.

Despite decades of advocacy, women still struggle to gain access to public spaces, in particular to spaces of power such as formal governance and decision-making processes, economic sites, and media institutions. Globalization has enabled the emergence of transnational feminist organizing in response to these exclusions, yet scholars have largely not attended to the spaces within which transnational feminist organizing takes place and the implications of those spaces. These spaces matter as they have the potential to both disrupt and reproduce existing power relations and exclusions. This study identified digital space as a site of transnational feminist organizing and explored how digital ‘safe’ counter-spaces are communicatively constructed and their potentials and limitations for organizing across difference. As an engaged feminist project, this study also had an action goal of creating safer and more inclusive counter-spaces for women to gain a voice and organize collectively. Specifically, this project aimed to contribute to the transformation of such spaces to further enable women’s mobilizing and organizing for social change. In this study, I adopted a critical transnational feminist lens and drew on scholarship in the areas of transnational feminist organizing, space, and tension. In line with this study’s engaged feminist approach, I conducted what I termed a digital feminist participatory action research (D+FPAR) project involving a collaborative partnership with the digitally based transnational feminist network, World Pulse. Data collection involved multiple qualitative and participatory online methods.

Findings from this study illuminated the ways digital counter-space is discursively and materially constructed as ‘safe’ and ‘inclusive’, how these constructions produce contradictions, and how both community and staff members respond to these contradictions. First, the digital space was communicatively constituted as safe and inclusive through particular material-discursive practices, through members’ talk and interaction enabled by the affordances of the digital space, and through interrelations with overlapping digital and physical spaces. Second, contradictions were produced when these material-discursive practices took on different meanings or made difference visible for members based on their identities, locations, or experiences, leaving members feeling simultaneously safe/unsafe and included/excluded. Third, community and staff members enacted a variety of strategies in response to these contradictions that limited and/or enhanced the potentials for organizing across difference and contributed to the ongoing construction of the digital space.

This study advances scholarship on space, transnational feminist organizing, and tension. In defining and interrogating digital space, this project contributes to theorizing the communicative construction of space, how it interrelates and is embedded with the material, and the ways digital spaces (re)produce and challenge power relations. More specifically, this project contributes to understandings of how materiality intra-acts with discourse in the construction of space to shape possibilities for organizing and produce contradictions, revealing the ways ‘safe’ counter-spaces are in a constant state of becoming (un)safe. Methodologically, this project contributes to scholarship by introducing D+FPAR, providing tools for collaborative analysis, and expanding reflexive praxis. Additionally, this study also provides practical strategies, co-constructed with participants, for individuals and organizations seeking to design ‘safe’ digital spaces for voice, participation, and collective action.

Thesis deal with tuning of database Oracle, which is used by digital archive SAFE. In the concrete deal with setting parameters of database. It is divided to three parts. In first part it characterizes factors that influence performance of database. In second part it describes possibilities of tuning and setting Oracle database. In third part it is first introduced digital archive SAFE, after that it is chosen suitable testing tool for workload generation and described test scenarios and last are performed tests and compared results at different database database settings. Goal of thesis is description and trial tuning of Oracle database, which is used by digital archive SAFE. Other goal is test of files inserting into digital archive at different settings (saving to the database, on file system). These goals are achieved by testing tool workload generation and compare response time at different settings. Contribution of this thesis is above all trial of tuning Oracle database, which is used by digital archive SAFE. Document can be used like handbook for implementatory of tested implementation of digital archive SAFE.

The purpose of this study was to examine how Nordea could take on agile scaling, focusing on a unit of distributed Scrum teams within their departmentfor digital banking. The aim was to be achieved by attempting to identify appropriate methods and best practices - for scaling agile - to implement for the unit's success. The teams are working in isolation from each other, deployed across Scandinavia, despite the development of the same products/services. By studying the challenges of Nordeas unit, this master thesis could give some concrete examples of how a large organisation can proceed to take on the aspect of agile scaling, involving distributed teams. The conclusions are that Nordea has initiated an agile transformation, but need more uniform teams if they want optimize through synergy effects. To attempt agile scaling for distributed nonuniform teams is not recommended. The management lacks transparency and should get more involved to make an analysis on the current situation so that long-term goals can be set up. Making use of a ready-made framework for scaling is not recommended when there are few dependencies between a small number ofpeople. To continue forward the assistance of external experts, who can analyze and measure the relevant components, is recommended. Recommendations have been given to the the question formulations anda number of other relevant points. These recommendations include appropriate methods and best practices for management to proceed with, and revolve around making the team more uniform without encountering too much of a resistance.

Usually archeological artifacts are documented in written or drawn form: today, thanks to the advent of new instrumentations and the development of advanced Geomatics techniques, a new chapter is open about innovative methods of collecting 3D data and new way of heritage representation. The following thesis is talking about the reconstruction of a 3D model of a safe located inside the Obellio Firmo house belonging to the archaeological site of Pompeii, in the framework of a project between Superintendence of Pompeii and the DiSCI and DICAM Departments of the University of Bologna. The technique used fot the safe survey is the close-range photogrammetry: the high quality digital images were taken on the field for further processing in order to obtain accurate textured 3D model processed in different software. In the thesis all the procedures and methods used in order to obtain the 3D model are explained in detail . Since the safe has undergone deformations and melting, because of the eruption of Vesuvius volcano, its original shape is unknown: the work has focused also on the reconstruction of a model representing the original 3D shape of the safe, based on real data coming from the photogrammetric survey and on the analysis of few similar objects found in the archaeological sites of the area.

The monograph is devoted to the formation of the concept of digital financial security analytics. The use of the digital environment and big data analysis tools in the system of monitoring sectoral risks and monitoring the activities of socially significant organizations from the position of the ESG strategy is disclosed. At the same time, financial security is considered as an aggregated result of the action of economic, environmental and social factors in a rapidly changing economy. It covers several key areas that make it possible to digitalize and improve the effectiveness of monitoring the activities of socially significant organizations in a complex: the development of the conceptual apparatus of socially significant business; analytical tools for assessing and forecasting financial security risks based on the concept of sustainable development; standardization of risk management. Nowadays, social media, ICT, mobile technologies and applications are increasingly used as tools for communication, interaction, building up social skills and unique learning environments. One of the latest trends observed in education is an attempt to streamline the learning process by applying educational digital games. Despite numerous research data, that confirms the positive effects of digital games, their integration into formal educational contexts is still relatively low. The purpose of this article is to analyze, discuss and conclude what is necessary to start using games as an instructional tool in formal education. In order to achieve this aim, a complex of qualitative research methods, including semi-structured expert interviews was applied. As the result, the potential of educational digital games to give a unique and safe learning environment with a wide spectrum of build-in assistive features, be efficient in specific training contexts, help memorize studied material and incorporate different learning styles, as well as to be individually adaptable, was determined. At the same time, the need for complex approach affecting the administration, IT departments, educators, students, parents, a strong skill set and a wide spectrum of different roles and tasks a teacher carries out in a digital game-based learning class were outlined. In conclusion and as a vector for further research, the organization of Education Design Laboratory as an integral part of a contemporary educational institution was proposed.

At the same time, three “megatrends” in the automotive industry—self-driving, electrification, and advanced manufacturing technology—are enabling the design of innovative, application-specific vehicles that capitalize on city connectivity. Applications could countless; however, they also need to be safe and securely integrated into a city’s physical and digital infrastructure, and into the overall urban ecosystem. Unsettled Issues Concerning Automated Driving Services in the Smart City Infrastructure examines the current state of the industry, the developments in automated driving and robotics, and how these new urban, self-driving city applications are different. It also analyzes higher level challenges for urban applications. Ultimately, this report includes several options for sharing lessons learned among different cities and their stakeholders.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is responsible for public health in relation to food in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It makes sure that people can trust that the food they buy and eat is safe and is what it says it is. As part of this responsibility, the FSA works to understand the continuing evolution of the food landscape to identify opportunities to improve standards of food safety and/or authenticity. As well as any new or magnified risks from which consumers should be protected. One area that has evolved rapidly is that of digital platforms in the food and drink industry. Consumers are increasingly purchasing food via third party intermediaries, known as ‘aggregators’, from a range of vendors. Digital platforms remain a relatively new concept, with many launching in the past decade. As such, there has been a knowledge gap in government about how these platforms work and how they impact the landscape in which they operate.

The in-vehicle experience, both physical and digital, is increasingly the differentiating factor between vehicles. Since touch displays, smart surfaces, and internet connectivity are present in most vehicle segments, the growing resemblance of in-vehicle experiences with mobile experiences leads to user expectations on par with smartphones. While manufacturers are faced with providing suitable service offerings that are safe to use, they must also identify services to exclude or limit, without encouraging drivers to resort back to their mobile devices. This increasingly complex in-vehicle experience design process is being shaped by new stakeholders, including operating system providers and application developers. Design of the In-vehicle Experience examines the challenging and changing relationships between manufacturers (that lack in software development and mobile experience design skills) and new stakeholders (that lack the decades of experience designing for the driving context). The report also discusses augmenting and expanding existing guidelines and best practices to address the challenges of modern in-vehicle experience design.

Distance education has become the mandatory component of higher education establishments all over the world including Ukraine regarding COVID-19 lockdown and intentions of Universities to render valuable knowledge and provide safe educational experience for students. The present study aimed to explore the student’s and academic staff’s attitude towards e-learning and the most complicated challenges regarding online learning and distance education. Our findings disclosed that the online learning using Zoom, Moodle, Google Meet, BigBlueButton and Cisco has become quite popular among the students and academic staff in Ukraine in time of the lockdown period and beyond. Based on the Principal Component Analysis data processing we can conclude that students’ satisfaction and positive e-learning perception are in a good correlation with quality of e-learning resources and set of apps which are used while e-learning and distance education. Also, education style, methods, and manner predict willingness of students to self-study. The self-motivation, time-management, lack of practice, digital alienation, positive attitude towards ICT, and instruction strategy belong to the most important challenges of COVID-19 lockdown based on the students and academic staff interviews. Online learning on daily purpose should be used in the favor of strengthening of classical higher education rather than replacing the former. Blended education is the best alternative to face-to-face education, because the communication with mentor in a live environmental even virtual should have ushered the learners to complete online learning and improve its results.
