Recently, researchers have developed computer-based collaborative drawing tools, which make it possible for multiple users to concurrently share an electronic drawing area. This research is concerned with how these tools impact group process and outcomes. Specifically, two laboratory experiments, which differed primarily in the type of task the group performed, were conducted in order to compare the interaction and performance of small (three-person) groups using either a whiteboard or one of two collaborative drawing tools (CDTs). The group process was studied in terms of how the members worked together: either by multiple participants drawing and speaking simultaneously (interactive mode), by only one person drawing at a time (scribe mode), or by all members drawing without verbally interacting (parallel mode). The equality of participation among group members was another component of the group process that was measured. Time and solution quality served as outcomes measures of group performance. Results from the two experiments showed that whiteboard groups worked in scribe mode a significantly greater proportion of the time than did CDT groups, while CDT groups tended to work more interactively or in parallel. There was also evidence that at least some types of CDTs result in more even drawing participation among group members. However, for these experimental tasks, completion times for CDT groups were significantly longer than for whiteboard groups. There are at least three possible reasons that CDT groups took more time to complete the tasks: (1) the mechanics of drawing take longer with a CDT, (2) communication is less effective, (3) CDT groups utilize the modes of work ineffectively. It also appears that CDTs not only enabled parallel work, but actually suggested it. CDT group members seemed to be drawn into working on their own, with much longer periods of silence than whiteboard groups experienced. CDTs may make it harder for group members to remain aware of what other group members' activities, as they become focused on their own display and do not perceive the drawing and other non-verbal communication of the other group members.

Haptic perception is context dependent, suggesting that haptic cues in one particular domain of applications may not be suitable for another. Literature suggests that options should be given to users to allow customisation of feedback received to fit their needs. How these options should be presented has not been investigated. Also, little has been reported with respect to haptic cues in drawing, a fundamental domain in art. This research explores haptic sensations that artists recognise in a drawing environment and investigates design representations to support those sensations. It addresses these inter related questions: (1) What are the haptic features involved in drawing (2) What haptic cues are suitable for a drawing application and how to integrate them (3) In such an application, do users prefer to interact with an interface design that has a "fixed haptic" sensation or its "variable haptic" counterpart (4) If a variable haptic design is preferred, do users prefer to interact with haptic information represented in the system using an interface metaphor that involves a real world object-based representation whose underlying haptic sensation feels similar to its real world counterpart, or a textual description of the underlying feature that corresponds to an intuitive haptic sensation These questions were addressed in three practical aspects of research work: a study to capture the design requirements, implementation of the haptic interfaces, and a main evaluation study. The first study resulted in a taxonomy of haptic cues for drawing. The haptic cues for a drawing application were integrated into two different types of interface. The integration was motivated by the role and reification of metaphor to make haptic information concrete. An evaluation study tested users' preferences on these design representations suggesting a preference for a variation of force feedback. The findings suggest that both designs have potential to be accepted by users.

s, these reactions advocated merely incremental decision-making and design in the making of cities. These developments lived in the western countries showed their reflections in Turkey with the 1980&

s, resulting in fragmented planning practices. However it is the hypothesis of the study that macro-scale urban design: thus designing the form and the structural elements of the city is the statement of the development policy of the city. Thus structural elements that make up a certain city form is a major area of concern for urban design. Within this frame firstly the debate between the modern and post-modern approaches about the scope of intervening in the development of the city will be evaluated. Then the Turkish planning approach will be analyzed with regard to its success in development control. Basic city forms and their growth characteristics will be examined in the next part. Finally the planning practices of Ankara and the form and the structural elements proposed will be evaluated accordingly.

Although, the literature reveals that coach interior designs have been emphasized as an important factor determining their competitiveness in the market and the quality of an interior design can be effectively improved by using information about passenger expectations, few practical studies exist to assess the urban railway transport interiors from the passengers&rsquo
perspective. Consequently, designers lack reliable criteria to guide their decisions which would satisfy users. In this study, it is intended to develop a procedure to create interior design alternatives of urban railway transportation vehicles with regard to subjective needs and preferences of users. In order to acquire design criteria and recommendations for such interiors, the design alternatives are then evaluated quantitatively through the medium of semantic assessment tools. The thesis is supported with the arguments collected from literature and with the data from three empirical studies.

Today, the impact of information technologies on education field is ever more clarified with the integration of new tools and methods to the education. Education has been becoming away from the traditional classroom environment through virtual environment. Besides education of theoretical disciplines, education of practice based disciplines, like design related disciplines are moving toward virtual environments. One of these is Industrial Design (ID) education which also has made the transition to the virtual world. This thesis aims to explore and scrutinize the latest forms of ID education, especially the online distance ID education. In order to comprehend the technological progress of ID education and its possible future, an overview of the origins and an evaluation of the current state of distance online ID education are made. By this study, it is expected to shed light to the design educators and the educational systems&rsquo
developers, for designing these environments. At the end of this research, it is concluded that it is not possible to imagine a future of ID education without technology integration. However, it would be better to apply both technological and traditional methods. In fact, the key people in the development of these educational systems and tools would be the designers themselves.

L'édition, la création, et le design digital mènent la flexibilité des ordinateurs vers l'acte de création. La quasi-absence de conséquences par l'expérimentation peut être à la fois une bonne et une mauvaise chose. Bien que la flexibilité des ordinateurs encourage l'exploration d'idées artistiques, elle peut également la freiner, en proposant trop d'options mal-adaptées. Un grand défi pour le développement des logiciels graphiques aujourd'hui est de tirer parti de la flexibilité sans précédent des ordinateurs, tout en offrant à l'utilisateur le niveau de contrôle adapté à ses besoins. La difficulté quand on développe un tel système est fortement influencée par l'attente que l'utilisateur place dans le travail effectué par l'ordinateur. L'ordinateur étant considéré comme un assistant dans le processus de création, on attend de lui qu'il soit 'assez intelligent' pour mériter ce rang. Habituellement, nous n'acceptons pas bien quand le résultat d'une telle assistance n'est pas satisfaisante. Cependant, le niveau d'attente et, par conséquence, de satisfaction, varie en fonction de l'utilisateur. Les utilisateurs novices ont tendance à être moins exigeants et sont satisfaits quand ils peuvent créer des résultats intéressants avec peu d'intervention humaine. Les utilisateurs professionnels, d'un autre côté, ont des besoins différents. Ils recherchent des logiciels assez performants pour automatiser leurs taches, mais qui leur laissent assez de contrôle sur le résultat obtenu. Pour cette catégorie d'utilisateurs, plus l'impact du logiciel sur le résultat est important, plus ils veulent avoir le contrôle sur la façon dont est obtenu ce résultat. Dans cette thèse, nous démontrons que l'ordinateur peut être un assistant précieux dans le processus de création visuel du moment que des systèmes d'interaction adaptés existent. L'adaptation est donc un aspect important car, à différents niveaux, les utilisateurs veulent pouvoir contrôler le résultat afin d'exprimer leur style et leur créativité. La thèse présente deux scénarios différents qui démontrent que la contrôlabilité joue un rôle majeur dans l'expressivité : une technique temps-réel pour grouper des scènes 3d dynamiques pour obtenir automatiquement un résultat sur lequel on peut facilement appliquer un style de rendu arbitraire ; et plusieurs dérivées d'une primitive de dessin vectoriel appelée Diffusion Curves qui contraignent et contrôlent la création de dégradés de couleurs complexes. Digital edition, creation, and design bring the computer's extraordinary flexibility to the act of creation. The near absence of penalty for experimentation can be, however, both a blessing and a curse. Although the unprecedent flexibility of the computer encourages exploration of artistic ideas, it also can be a factor of great distraction to the artist. A great challenge for the development of graphics softwares today is, thus, to take advantage of computer's unprecedented flexibility, while offering to the user the adapted level of control that she or he is looking for. The difficulty when designing such adapted system is highly influenced by the expectations users place on the job performed by computers. As the computer places itself in the role of an assistant in the creation process, we expect it to be 'smart enough' to deserve this place. Usually, we do not accept well when the result of such assistance is not satisfactory. Nevertheless, the level of expectation, and consequently, satisfaction, is not the same for all users. Novice users tend to be less exigent and are often happy when the computer help them to create interesting results without the need of a strong user intervention. Professional users, on the other hand, usually have different needs. They are looking forward to softwares that are good enough in automatizing tasks, but also that provide intuitive controls to manipulate their results. For these users, the bigger is the impact of the work generated by the computer in the final result, the more these tasks are subjected to have control parameters. In this thesis, we demonstrate that the computer can be placed as an incomparable assistant into the visual creation process once well-adapted interaction systems are provided. Adaptation is thus an important aspect because, in different levels, users want to be able to have the control over the result in order to give their touch and express their creativity. The thesis presents two different scenarios demonstrating that controllability plays a major role in expressiveness: a real-time technique to cluster a dynamic 3D scene in order to achieve an automatic, yet controllable output that can then be used as input to any rendering style; and a number of adaptations to a drawing vector graphics primitive called Diffusion Curves that constrain and control the creation of complex color gradients. The thesis proposes, on one hand, mathematical and computational well-adapted representations to provide the user with different levels of control over algorithms of expressive rendering in order to manipulate two- and tridimensional scenes; and, on the other hand, to reproject this technical support into user-friendly software solutions

In this document, I will present HabilisDraw DT, a drawing environment in which bimanual direct manipulation and a strong tool-use metaphor are supported via the DiamondTouch input device from Mitsubishi Electronics Research Lab. The goal of this research is to explore the viability of the various contributions of HabilisDraw DT in the development of future interfaces. The principles upon which HabilisDraw DT have been built include persistent tools that embody intuitive aspects of their physical counterparts and an approach to interface learnability that capitalizes on the user?s inherent ability to use tools both separately and in conjunction with other tools. In addition to these principles, HabilisDraw DT extends the physical-virtual tool correlation with bimanual input via the MERL DiamondTouch input device and a close adherence to the direct manipulation interaction model. This paper presents background work in novel interaction and an overview of the HabilisDraw interface, then explores the benefits of a desktop metaphor that closely mimics the behavior of tools and objects in a two-dimensional drawing environment and argues for the applicability of the system?s fundamental principles for improving interface usability in the future.

The diploma thesis present technology production of draining outlet. This is a rectangular deep drawn part, where basic shape is formed in two towing operations now. The used material is an austenitic stainless steel 17 240 with thickness 1 mm. According to the entry documentation the production technology was not change – current technology (it means drawing without thinning the wall) is most suitable. Based on technological and control calculations two-operations production was determined, which will take place in the united conventional instrument. The hydraulic press with marking Dieffenbacher PO250, which has a magnetic tool clamping, per stroke will perform here both operations. The payback was calculated for yearlong production 50 000 pieces after 0,8 years. The proposed production will make the current production more efficient including economic benefits.

Thesis evaluaes production of the body latch, which is used for window, window shutter and door locking. It is made from 11 375 steel sheet which is 1 mm thick. Annual production is 50000 pcs. Progresive cutting and drawing in one combined tool and finishing product in single opperation drawing tool was choosen as most effective. Single operation drawing will be operated manually. Tools was designed by series of technological callculations to which was projected presses Šmeral LDC 160 with additional devices. Acording to economic valuation, cost of production of one piece is 16,50 Kč and production becames profitable after production of 27185 pieces.

My research into young children's understanding of using drawing to support designing was undertaken in a rural First School (children aged 5-9 years) across the years 1998-2002. Since little previous research had been conducted in the field, the first phase of the research aimed to discover how young children could use drawing to support designing, through analysing drawings produced in Design and Technology lessons. It appeared that below age 8, although children could record design ideas, they did not use drawing to support their design thinking or develop their ideas towards making. Understandings gained through reading, led to the belief that the metaphor of design drawing as both a Container and a Journey could be used to teach younger children to use drawing as a design tool. The second phase of the research, therefore, involved devising a Programme of four school term's duration, for a Year 2 class (average age 6.10 at start of Programme), that embedded the Container I Journey metaphor. These children's developing capability with design drawing was compared at intervals with that of a parallel class who did not receive the Programme. The evaluation of the Programme used both qualitative and quantified analysis to assess both process and products of using drawing to support designing. The analysis instrument for the products was based on a holistic view of the design process, placing Understanding the Purpose of the Drawing at the centre of capability and Dimensions of Design Drawing through which such capability were expressed in drawing as emanating from this central understanding. Besides demonstrating the success of the Programme, the analysis showed how children adapt their use of drawing for different activities (problem-solving or product design) and revealed the importance of discussion whilst drawing for the development of viable design ideas. This thesis describes the design and implementation of an innovative drawing interpretation tool for the sight-impaired. The move towards Graphical User Interfaces in today's computer era presents many challenges to those with impaired vision. Although there are many tools to aid this group in reading and writing text-based electronic documents, few software packages are available to help the sight-impaired interpret electronic images. This new tool, known as ImagePilot 2.0, processes electronic image files that contain line drawings and produces audio feedback to guide the user through the drawing. ImagePilot 2.0 receives input through a pointing device, thereby providing the user with a means of examining a drawing interactively, and serving as an aid for recognizing the outlines of familiar shapes and objects. In this study, a "line drawing" is a simple image that contains line segments and curves, without any shading or colors. It can be represented as a 2-dimensional array of picture elements (pixels), in which each pixel is either black or white. The drawing is represented by a pattern of black (foreground) pixels against a white background. Typically, groups of connected foreground pixels represent segments or curves that are associated with a single object. ImagePilot 2.0 makes it possible for a sight-impaired user to interrogate such an image. Line drawings can be stored in many different electronic formats. ImagePilot 2.0 supports valid Graphic Interchange Format (GIF) files. If the foreground image regions in the file are wider than one pixel in width, a Zhang-Suen thinning algorithm is applied to thin the drawing. The tool identifies the separate regions in the drawing and decides on the best starting point for each region. Once a starting point is chosen, the drawing is processed using a modified chain-coding algorithm. The audio feedback consists of two types of audio cues, verbal and tone, along with stereo playback. Verbal feedback guides the user with a set of verbal cues played through the speakers. The tone feedback uses three tones representing above, level, and below the horizontal. The left and right speakers provide left and right directional information at each level. Speed is a critical factor in image analysis and interpretation applications. While the tool is receiving and processing input, it must also respond to the user within an acceptable amount of time. ImagePilot 2.0 uses multi-threading and multi-tasking techniques to achieve higher performance speeds. After design and implementation, two groups of people tested the tool. The tool demonstrated the ability to help the user find and trace the segments in the test drawings with high efficiency and acceptable response time. This tool is written in pure Java, and complies with Sun's Java API specification 1.1.7 released in October 1998. The tool functions on systems with multimedia capabilities that have a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and Java Media Framework (JMF) installed.

The project looks for a solution to optimalization of rotational deep drawn part with flange production. It deals with sewerage drain, which is produced by conventional tool to two deep drawing operations. The used material is austenitic Cr-Ni stainless steel 1.4301. Suitability of this material for deep drawing operations was considered by means of the tensile test and the Erichsen test. On the bases of these results, serializability of production and theoretic relationships for determination of number of deep drawing operations, it was decided upon one operation serial production, by conventional tool without attenuation thickness of sheet. Production will take place on hydraulic press Dieffenbacher PO250 with magnetic tool fastening. The deep drawing tool was designed and constructed. For series of 2 000 units per year the rate of return was calculated after 4,7 years, while using the punch from the current second deep drawing operation it was calculated after 3,4 years.

Kuriant naujas specialybes, ugdant kvalifikuotus specialistus atsiranda poreikis suteikti braižybos dalyko žinių nesigilinant į konkrečią sritį. Tam reikia tinkamų grafinių užduočių, susijusių su pasirinktomis studijomis ir specializacija. Ypač reikia TDV specialybės studentams, besirenkantiems skirtingas specializacijas (oda, floristika, aprangos dizainas). Apklausos rezultatai leidžia daryti išvadą, TDV specialybės studentams braižybos pagrindams įsisavinti reikalinga mokymosi priemonė, kurioje būtų pateikiama esminė informacija ir praktinės užduotys žinioms įsisavinti ir braižymo įgūdžiams ugdyti. Mokymosi priemonę sudaro 16 temų, kurios yra svarbios braižybos pagrindams įsisavinti. Šios temos yra integruojamos į kitus mokomuosius dalykus susijusius su grafiniu vaizdavimu.
Engineering – widest field of use of the knowledge of the subject drawing. Thus, much of the task, posters and books are adapted for students studying engineering graphics. The development of new specialties, education of specialists there is a need for drawing the subject of knowledge without going into a specific area. This requires a proper graphic tasks associated with the selected studies and specialization. This is particularly necessary for the students of TDV, choosing different specializations (leather, flowers, clothing design). The survey results suggest that some of the fundamentals of drawing for students to absorb the necessary learning tool, which will provide essential information and practical sessions to absorb knowledge and drawing skills. Learning tool consists of 16 topics which are important to absorb the fundamentals of drawing. These topics are integrated into other subjects that are related with the graphical representation.

The project developed in the master's degree in M2-P, proposes a technology of hollow metal components DX53D+Z275N+NC with holes sheet metal forming. For batch production 225 000 units per year, on the basis of literary study problems of production of components there is designed a new way of producing components for progressive tools and it is compared with current production of simple tools. A progressive tool has 12 steps and combines them in cutting, drawing and extrusion. The tool is mounted in the hydraulic press KAISER KSTU2500 with a maximum force of 2500 kN. Simulations were performed for the campaign in the PAM-STAMP 2G 2011.

With the advent of the computer, the world of design has been revolutionized. Many artists and designers have started to look to the computer to aid in their design processes. By using the computer, designers have been able to achieve a higher level of precision and design resolution. This project examines the processes involved in teaching the computer as a design tool to art students and faculty. By drawing on five years of computer application experience, the author has created and executed a plan for helping designers learn the advantages of incorporating the computer as a part of their design processes. This project deals with the difficulties of teaching designers the visualization and computer skills necessary for using the computer as a design tool. The project focuses upon two groups of students. The first group was comprised of advanced metals students learning MacintoshApplications. The second group was comprised of advance metals students working on Microstation, a CAD software application.

The thesis is focused on the design of the production of kettle grill lid from steel 11 305 (1.0338) with a constant wall thickness of 1 mm and a series of 10 000 pcs/year. For the selected method of manufacture by conventional drawing, technological calculations were performed. Depending on the diameter of the blank, maximum force and other parameters, the tool and the machine were designed. The tool is a single-operation drawing tool with a blank holder and a rib around the perimeter. These functional parts, together with the drawing punch and drawing die, are made of surface-treated cementitious steel 14 220 (1.7131). The drawing tool is clamped into a CBA 250 hydraulic press with a nominal force of 2 500 kN, where the blank holder is controlled by an additional device at the bottom of the press.

A two-part project was used to study the idea of demonstration in architecture. The first was the design and fabrication of cycloidal drawing tools. The second was the design of another studio building for the College of Architecture and Urban Studies at Virginia Tech. First, the study of cycloidal lines became the catalyst for designing and fabricating cycloidal drawing tools. Drawing a cylcoid is a demonstration of its construction. There are no specialized tools available for drawing these types of lines, so several iterative generations of design were needed to refine the form of the tool and reach adequate accuracy. Second, an additional studio building for the College of Architecture and Urban Studies at Virginia Tech was designed. It was designed to be a place for the demonstration of craftsmanship. The building was placed adjacent to Cowgill Hall. The form of the building was explored through traditional tools of architectural design, namely drawings of plans, sections, elevations and details. For the best representation of this thesis, please refer to the book found in the Art and Architecture library.

This dissertation examines the process of domestication of American Indian children in government-controlled schools through art education. At the end of the nineteenth century, Thomas J. Morgan, Commissioner of Indian Affairs (1889-1893), and Estelle Reel, Superintendent of Indian schools (1898-1910), brought changes to the curriculum of Indian schools by introducing the teaching of elementary art and instruction in "Native industries" such as pottery, weaving, and basketry. I claim that art education was as an instrument for the `colonization of consciousness,' that is, for the redefinition of Indigenous peoples' minds through the instilment of values and ideals of mainstream society and thus for the maintenance of a political, economic, social, and racial hierarchy. Art education served the needs of the late-nineteenth century assimilationist agenda. I consider Morgan's and Reel's national mandates at the turn of the twentieth century and examine their rationales for including drawing and Native crafts in the Indian schools' curriculum. This knowledge of educational programs crafted at the bureaucratic level is applied to an analysis of art instruction in two selected institutions, the Albuquerque Indian School in New Mexico and the Sherman Institute in Riverside, California, from 1889 to 1917. I examine local responses to government policies and daily practices of Indian education at the micro level in order to provide specific information as to the organization, structure, and pedagogy of art instruction within a school day in these particular localities. Finally, I discuss how students' artworks were displayed in the context of exhibitions and national conventions as exemplary evidence of the progress toward civilization, but also of the instrumentality of an Anglo education in reaching this goal. As Indian policy changed, so did the art curriculum of Indian schools; while drawing continued until the mid-1910s Native arts and crafts began to disappear and were eventually discontinued. As activities that promoted independence and individual creativity, they began to undermine the government's agenda. From the early 1890s when it was first introduced into Indian schools to the mid-1910s when it lost its significance, art education was a tool for the assertion of America's hegemonic power.

Thesis submits concept of the sink fabrication technology where circular sink is made from rustproof austenitic steel 1.4301 (X5CrNi 18-10) using technology of conventional deep drawing without reducing wall’s thickness. Hydraulic press YL32 - 400 with nominal force 400 kN has been chosen as the production machine. Drawing tool with holder was designed to be used for this technology and its drawing documentation had been enclosed in this thesis. Size of the production series was set for 20 000 products annually. Control simulation of the drawing process has proven that designed component can be made and that computations are correct. Economic and technological estimation was performed which resulted in price being set for 555 czech crowns per piece. After manufacturing first 7 447 products the manufacturing process will become economically profitable.

The aim of this thesis is to propose and design the production of the cap. The cap is welded to the tube of roller regal and is used for closing the tube. They together make a fixed assembly. There is a bearing molded from inside the cap and shaft passes through the center of the cap. The main function of whole assembly is to rotate the tube around its own axis. The cap will made from deep - drawing steel DC04 with a thickness of 2 mm. After consideration various possible variants for the cap production, there was chosen deep drawing without reduction of thickness as the most profitable technology. The shape of the component was modified from the technology review. There is proposed a tool that will be used for production the caps. The caps will be produced within three operations: the first two operations form a central cup and the third operation makes the final shape of the cap. Drawings for the tool are created and delivered as part of this thesis. Based on the necessary force and work calculation, it was chosen eccentric press machine S 160 E from the ŠMERAL company. With the 25 000 series, the costs of production one piece are 51,65 CZK.

In sheet metal forming operations the life length of the production equipment islargely dependent on the wear of the tools that are in direct contact with the sheet.One form of adhesive wear where some sheet material gets transferred to the tool, alsoknown as galling, is the most common cause of tool failure. The transferred materialsticks firmly to the tool and will scratch subsequent sheets and increase friction, renderingthem anywhere from aesthetically unsightly to completely ripped apart. Withcareful combination of several parameters the tools production life can be significantlyextended. The surface preparation of the tools has a large influence on the tool life, thesurface has to be smooth and yet not without texture. It was shown in strip reductiontesting that the orientation as well as the depth of the surface texture left by polishinginfluenced the tool life and that a texture perpendicular to the sliding direction was toprefer. The geometry of the forming tool is also a parameter to take into account as itinfluences the tool life not only by changing the contact pressure but also in itself. Ina sliding against flat sheet test rig a lower contact pressure increased the sliding distanceto galling. When two different geometries were compared at the same contactpressure it was found that there was a difference in tool life. As to the tool itself thematerial it’s made of influences the wear rate and tool life. Different tool steels wasinvestigated in sliding wear against metal sheets; Vancron 40 performed better thanVanadis 6 and S290PM performed better than a AISI M2 grade steel.

Since its invention, photography has been accepted as a reliable tool for achitecture in terms of its power for creating objective documents of the built-form. The aim of this study, is to question the so-called objectivity and reliability of the photographic representations of the buildings by showing how architectural photography emerges also with an artistic and purely aesthetic character rather than being a mere tool of objective documentation. Taking this formal emphasis on architectural subject as a basis, a broader focus will be given to the photogenic character of the images used in architectural publications. Instead of reflecting real spatial experience, these idealized photographs are used in a given context to constitute a fiction that alters the viewer'
s understanding of the architectural subject. Therefore, the main question is not whether architectural photography is an objective tool of documentation which is capable to represent architecture as it really is or it is a category of purely artistic activity
it is about how photography alters our vision about architecture and constructs new ideas for architectural discourse. By taking Tabanlioglu Architects'
Dogan Media Center building in Ankara as a key study, this thesis aims to focus this alteration and question the potentials of architectural photography.

The ever-present smart mobile device has changed the everyday life of users in both positive and negative ways, and connects users’ lives online and offline. The existence of fewer gaps between online and offline worlds has shaped a new form of social relationship, new ways of thinking, and had sparked changes in smart mobile users’ behaviour. This thesis investigates the problem of digital anxiety among smart mobile users. The aim of this research project is to investigate how digital drawing affects digital anxiety in the smart mobile user. The research is based on the premise that drawing is a communication tool, and it investigates what types of digital drawing content help the smart mobile user relieve their digital anxiety. This research proposes guidelines for the use of drawing to help the smart mobile user who is experiencing digital anxiety. First, I established digital anxiety as a theoretical construct, and then conducted exploratory studies to investigate the practical problems faced by the smart mobile user. I determined the meaning of digital anxiety, and the precise symptoms experienced by the user suffering from digital anxiety, through a theoretical framework and an exploratory study. Lastly, I conducted empirical studies aimed at designing a method of measuring the level of digital anxiety. This method was tested with hundreds of participants, and was used for conducting the digital drawing experiment at the end of my research project. Overall, this thesis establishes the scope for determining digital anxiety, provides a method of quantifying digital anxiety, and demonstrates the use of digital drawing to relieve digital anxiety in the smart mobile user. I conclude that my research investigates the use of drawing as a communication tool for smart mobile users as a way of improving their memory, emotional wellbeing, and social relationships. I hope my research can serve as a guideline or a methodology in the design of an educational programme or high-tech industries on the basis of a cognition-mediated model.

This thesis elaborated within a master degree in 23-03-T002 line, introduces a suggestion of production technology of part „Ring“ by sheet metal forming out of deep-drawing steel W.Nr. 1.0338. Supposed production amount is 250 000 pieces per year. Based on a literary study of problematic of sheet forming for this required part regarding production series, technologies of this of deep drawing and cutting were chosen. According to performed technological calculations, a production process of seven operations was designed. A sequence automatic machine Paust 40 (VVB WMW), was cousin for this suggested process. This machine is particularly appointed for big series and wholesale production of impressions of sheet metal. It is equipped with mechanization and therefore creates a fully automatic line. A tool was designed for this chosen type of machine. Project includes economical evaluations of elaborated of production technology.

It has been considered that spam is one of the worst advertising tools in the Internet because of wide range of porno, Viagra, luxury brands’ replicas and other unwanted mailings all over the world; nevertheless, a lot of companies continue to use this tool for products’ or services’ introduction to their potential clients and partners. According to the author’s personal four-year-experience in marketing field, the mostly asked question by companies is how to advertise the product or service to new potential partners or clients using spam without losing the reputation of the company. The author wishes to investigate whether it is possible by carefully thought-out and aimed at the right market spam advertisement to draw people’s attention. This study employs partly quantitative and partly qualitative research approach. Empirical data collection is organized through questionnaires and personal mailing experiment. Random people who filled in the first questionnaire were from the author’s personal network all over the world. Regarding the second questionnaire the author has chosen to research Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) as the area of medium-sized companies’ location. The author used 2 million American e-mail addresses in her personal mailing experiment. In order to analyze the findings through a set of graphical techniques exploratory data analysis was used. Both questionnaires consisted from dichotomous (Yes-no) questions, alternative questions, wh-questions and descriptive questions, analysis of which incorporated through the literature review. In addition to this, personal mailing experiment is present in the study where the author tests the attitude towards spam and the perception of advertisement based on the literature review as well. It became clear that it is possible by carefully thought-out and aimed at the right market spam advertisement to draw people’s attention. The author’s experiment has proved that there are some people or the e-mail users who actually buy products advertised in spam e-mails. One of the factors that influence attitude towards e-mails might be because of the particular spam usefulness or low time consumption but the success of the online advertisement depends on people’s perception. In the particular case the attitude towards advertisement was determined by advertisement’s execution and feelings transferred by it. It is important to remember that advertisers have to take main nuances into account when introducing products or services to new clients or partners, such as clear understanding of spam mailing goals, topics of interest, perception of visual information, time of advertisement, and trust.

Resumo: O processo de conformação plástica através da trefilação a frio de barras de aço tem como principal dificuldade o projeto da ferramenta. Ainda hoje, projetistas lançam mão de ábacos e tabelas colecionados ao longo do tempo através dos sucessos e insucessos experimentais. Tais informações, normalmente, ficam restritas às empresas ou aos poucos técnicos, dentro das suas bibliotecas particulares, onde, devido à dificuldade de acesso às informações práticas para projetar ferramentas e processos mais complexos, a fabricação de perfis trefilados tem perdido espaço para outros meios produtivos, por vezes, mais onerosos. Assim, este trabalho compila ábacos e tabelas presentes em projetos de ferramentas para trefilação ¿ seja através das experiências próprias, seja dos resultados herdados de outros técnicos ¿ e também, o escasso material bibliográfico sobre o assunto, organizando um banco de dados para a modelagem de um método que auxilie assertivamente as tarefas do projeto para ferramentas para trefilação a frio de barras de aço, utilizando-se de programas comerciais de computador. Cabe salientar que o sistema não é definitivo, dessa forma, o programa fonte é aberto e detalhado para que seja analisado e melhorado, sendo indicados os pontos de atenção onde devem ser inseridas ou modificadas informações, tornando o acesso amigável para aderência às particularidades do processo onde for aplicado
Abstract: The process of plastic conformation by cold drawing of steel bars has it's main difficulty in the tool design. Even today, designers have abacuses and tables built over time through the successes and failures experimental. Such collections of information, usually, are restricted to companies or few technicians within their private libraries Due to the difficulty of access to practical information to design tools and more complex processes, the manufacture of cold drawn profiles has lost ground to other, sometimes more expensive, productive means. This work compiles abacuses and tables collected in my 30 years in cold drawing tools' design - either through my own experiences, either from inherited results of the private collections of other technicians - and also, the scarce bibliography about the subject, organizing a database for modeling a method that assertively assists the project tasks for cold drawing steel bars tools, using commercial software. The system is not final, thereby the program has open source and detailed for to be analyzed and improved, being indicated the points where must be inserted - or changed - information, making friendly access to the particularities of the production process where it will be applied

Анотація:
Cette thèse est intitulée : « Dessiner : le geste, l'outil et le sujet dans le dessin contemporain ». Cette réflexion est liée à une pratique personnelle et à un questionnement sur le médium du dessin, particulièrement valorisé aujourd'hui dans l'art contemporain. Elle s'appuie sur une pratique artistique du dessin au fil représentant des espaces utopiques sur divers supports. Ma recherche théorique questionne la définition du dessin au vu de la pluralité des propositions actuelles. Ainsi, cette recherche analyse des pratiques bouleversant les limites de ce médium depuis les années 1960 à nos jours. Le cheminement de cette recherche explore le marqueur temporel contemporain, le sujet et l'exposition du dessin. Cette thèse engage la réflexion sur l'action de dessiner avec des pratiques s'éloignant des outils traditionnels. Ces gestes, parfois empruntés à d'autres techniques, tels que plier, coller, froisser, brûler, broder, déposer ou encore déchirer, participent à un renouvellement plastique du dessin et mènent à reconsidérer sa définition. Qu'amène la réinterprétation du geste de dessiner ?
This thesis is entitled: "Drawing: the gesture, the tool and the subject in contemporary drawing". This reflection is linked to a personal practice and a questioning on the medium of drawing, particularly valued today in contemporary art. It is based on an artistic practice of drawing with wire representing utopian spaces on various supports. My theoretical research questions the definition of drawing in view of the plurality of current propositions. Therefore, this research analyzes practices that have upset the limits of this medium since the 1960s to the present day. The path of this research explores the contemporary temporal marker, the subject and the exhibition of the drawing. This thesis engages reflection on the action of drawing with practices moving away from traditional tools. These gestures, sometimes borrowed from other techniques, such as bending, sticking, crumpling, burning, embroidering, filing or tearing, participate in a plastic renewal of the drawing and lead to reconsider its definition. What brings the reinterpretation of the gesture of drawing?

In recent years, the field of design has met new grounds with the growing awareness among design researchers of the potential relationships between cognitive studies of creativity and computational modeling. The turn of the studies has given rise to the emergence of a new paradigm of modeling and understanding mental processes in creative design. This study tries to gain further insight into the creative occurrence by blending virtual experiences with designer actions in a model of creative thinking in concept generation phase based on the Geneplore Model by Finke et al. (1995) and supported by analogy construction incorporating the implementation of a computer based tool (Black Box) running on PC platform as a potential immanent part of the concept generation phase. Black Box is devised in such a way that the core of the constructive process of the analogy relies on the designer&

s expressional, perceptual and conceptual actions which are presented in the traditional methods of sketching and writing, whereas the change and expansion of the design space is realized through the virtual worlds the tool offers via the computer screen. The research method is based on the development of Black Box tool and its subsequent implementation in a study with eight experienced design consultants, utilizing a procedure composed of preliminary interview, observational protocol analysis, questionnaire and retrospective interview. Through encoding actions of individual designers by means of their maps in the computational tool, the study yields significant results in revealing differing thinking maps of different designers which have been used to propose a general creative thinking map of concept generation in Black Box presented in a way to be adapted for further studies. Moreover, the study provided insight on the methods used to assist creativity in concept generation by different designers, on the selection of inspirational material and on the integration of analogies as knowledge transformers to evoke design concepts.

The thesis handle design of part of anemostat in size of series 15000 pcs/year. Due to conus shape and dimensions of part was chosen out of quantity of manufacturing processes a technology of deep drawing without a thinnig of 1mm thick DC04 steel. The resulting solution is progressive tool which concatenate four operations of deep drawing process. The drawing tool make use of standardised components. The design contain progressive tool including drawing documentation. Hydraulic press CTH 400 with nominal force 4000 kN is used for mentioned procedure.

Анотація:
The aim of this research is to investigate meanings and concepts of children's drawings from cultural and gender perspectives using appropriate qualitative techniques and methods for interpreting drawing. This thesis discusses how children's concepts and preferences may differ from adults' thinking and planning. The study starts with a discussion of various issues of relating to children and urban planning and design in Johore Bahru, Malaysia. This is followed by a review of the psychology of children's drawings; the use of children's drawings in environmental research; the provision for and children's use of urban environments, and the state of Johore Bahru's urban environmental planning. Through the literature review, this research studies "Western" models from interdisciplinary perspectives. The children's drawings were used as a research tool to reveal their concepts of home landscape and activities they preferred in an ideal residential neighbourhood environment. Data from questionnaires and essays were used to check evidence found in drawings. In all, 114 Malay, Chinese and Indian children from seven primary schools in urban Johore Bahru completed the tasks. The findings of qualitative content analysis and interpretation of drawings showed similarities and differences across cultures and genders in environmental concepts and preferences which may indicate shortcomings in current urban planning. Children's drawings provide valuable information on the development of children's environmental concepts and preferences of ideal home landscape. The concepts are represented in the form of diverse, safe, colourful and accessible naturalistic environments for exploration, learning, play and socialising with peers. This finding will help future research projects by providing information indicating issues and problems in provision of open spaces within the urban planning system. The thesis concludes with a critical commentary on the likely use of children's drawing as research tool, children's environmental needs and preferences, together with the possibility of child participation in decision making, planning and design process within the urban planning system in Malaysia.

The project, which have been created within the framework study of engineering branch N2301-2, submit technology project of presswork – car reinforcement from material H 220 P and concept of multi-tool set design for pressing operations 1, 2 and 3. Technology process was designed in six operations, based on literary study of blanking and drawing technology. Multi-tool set is design in according with transfer press Müller Weingarten 1250T-1, which was chosen on the basis of advantageousness calculation. Project includes technical and economical evaluation of elaborated technology whit two other variants of production.

This project is conceived within the master's degree in engineering technology and industry management (M2I-K Engineering) technology by design of the brake disc cover in compound tool, with year production 500 000 pcs. The material is deep-drawn sheet metal 11 305.21, 1 mm thickness. It is based on the literature studies about forming and calculation was suggested several variants of the present components. The proposed tool is clamped in the crank press LDC 400 firm Šmeral with a nominal force of 4000 kN. The functional parts are made from steel 19 573. The proposed technology of the deep drawing was verified by using simulation program AutoForm.
