Patient portals are web-based tools that provide patients with access to their health records and enhance communication with providers. Despite the efforts in expanding their use and patients interest in using them, patient portal usage remains low. Higher use of portals is associated with greater patient engagement and better healthcare quality and outcomes. This study investigated the impact of perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived ease of use (PEU) on patient portal usage. The conceptual framework was based on the Technology Acceptance Model, which suggests that PU and PEU of a system affect attitude and behavioral intention toward using the system, and ultimately the use of the system. The research questions focused on whether PU and PEU significantly affect portal usage. Participants included a convenience sample of 432 patients of Abington Health, located in Abington, PA, who had access to Abington's eClinicalWorks patient portal. Cross-sectional data collected from the completed online surveys included responses to Davis' PU and PEU measurement scale, self-reported portal login frequency and login duration, and some patient demographics. Data was analyzed by using chi-square test of independence and multinomial logistic regression. The study found that a significant relationship exists between PU and login frequency, PU and login duration, and PEU and login duration; however, the impact of PU and PEU on portal usage was not significant. The study could be repeated among a different population using a different patient portal. This study helps understand the relationship between PU/PEU and portal usage, something healthcare providers can capitalize upon when promoting portal use, and ultimately, encouraging greater patient engagement in their own health.

Cranes are widely used in material-handling and transportation applications, e.g. in shipyards, construction sites, and warehouses. As they are critical to the economic vitality of modern-day industries, improving crane performance and ease of use are important contributors to industrial productivity, low production costs, and workplace safety. In a typical crane operation, a payload is lifted, moved to its destination, and then lowered into place. This dissertation aims to improve crane performance and reduce task difficulty for the human operator in the movements mentioned above, namely: 1) Moving payloads laterally in the horizontal plane, 2) Lifting payloads off the ground, and 3) Lowering or laying down payloads on the ground. The design of a novel and intuitive human-machine control interface is the focus for improving operations that involve moving payloads laterally. The interface allows operators to drive a crane by simply moving a hand-held device through the desired path. The position of the device, which is tracked by sensors, is used to generate command signals to drive the crane. This command is then input-shaped such that payload oscillations are greatly reduced, making it much easier for the operator to drive the crane. Several facets of this crane control method are examined, such as control structure and stability, usability contexts, modes of operation, and quantitative measures (by means of human operator studies) of performance improvements over standard crane control interfaces. Lifting up a payload can be difficult for the operator, if the hoist is not properly centered above the payload. In these potentially dangerous and costly ``off-centered" lifts, the payload may slide on the ground and/or oscillate in the air after it is hoisted. Newtonian and Coulomb friction models that focus on the stiction-sliding-separation contact dynamics are derived and experimentally verified to study off-centered lifts. Then, with the goal of aiding operators during lift operations, simple but practical, self-centering solutions are proposed and implemented. Laying down or lowering a payload to the ground can also be challenging for operators in certain situations. For example, laying down a long, slender payload from a vertical orientation in the air, to a horizontal position on a flat surface. If the operator does not properly coordinate the motions of the crane in the vertical and horizontal directions simultaneously, then the potential hazards that may occur during these operations include: 1) slipping of the pivot about which the payload rotates, leading to sudden and dangerous payload movements; and 2) excessive hoist cable angles that lead to ``side-pull" problems. Newtonian and Coulomb friction models are derived to describe this lay-down scenario. The forces and motions experienced by the payload are then used to determine the motion trajectories that the crane and payload should follow to execute a successful lay-down maneuver. Finally, a special chapter is included to address the oscillation control of systems that have on-off nonlinear actuators, such as cranes powered by relay-controlled circuits. Due to their simplicity, ruggedness, and long service life, this type of crane can be commonly found in older factories or in applications where precise motion control is not a strict requirement. However, controlling payload oscillations on this type of crane is challenging for two reasons: 1) Relays that can only be turned on or off allow for only limited control over the crane velocity; and 2) These cranes typically have nonlinear asymmetrical acceleration and deceleration properties. Methods are derived for determining the relay switch-times that move single-pendulum and double-pendulum payloads with low residual oscillations.

Prioritizing software requirements helps to determine which requirements that are most important,and in which order requirements should be developed and tested throughout the development lifecycle. By prioritizing the requirements, software engineers can put focus on a subset of all requirements, and implement these in a particular release. This thesis aims to analyze two ratio scale prioritization techniques in a controlled experiment.The experiment was designed to compare time consumption, scalability, accuracy, ease of use, and ease to learning between the two techniques. All these evaluation parameters are combined together to find out which technique is more suitable to use when prioritizing software requirements. The two techniques investigated in the study presented in this thesis are: Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), which is based on pair-wise comparisons; and Cumulative Voting (CV) which is based on distributing points between requirements. The results of the experiment indicate that CV is less time consuming than AHP, which makes it more scalable. Further, CV is regarded as easier to use, and easier to learn than AHP. In addition, the results show that CV is more accurate than AHP while measuring the perceived accuracy. However, no conclusions could be made regarding actual accuracy due to misinterpretations by the study participants.

This thesis comprises two studies that empirically examine the relationships between individual differences and perceived ease of use of e-leaming. Study 1 examines a complete model in order to investigate the relationships between IT-specific individual difference and perceived ease of use. The model contains the mediating role of dynamic IT-specific individual differences (e-learning system self-efficacy and computer anxiety) with regard to the effects of stable IT-specific individual differences (personal innovativeness with IT and computer playfulness) and computer experience on perceived ease of use. Study 2 investigates gender difference by using an improved research method which controls the study field background (science and non-science), computer experience, and age of the sample. In contrast to previous studies that prevalently focus on dynamic differences, this study examines gender difference in both stable and dynamic individual difference variables. In order to test the research hypotheses of this thesis, three new instruments were developed. The data was gathered from a stratified random sample (N = 403) in a Taiwanese university setting. Using Structural Equation Modeling for Study 1, the findings show that e-learning self-efficacy mediated or partially mediated the effects of personal innovativeness, computer playfulness, and computer experience on perceived ease of use. In addition, computer anxiety mediated the effects of personal innovativeness and computer playfulness on perceived ease of use. However, contrary to our expectation, no relationship between computer anxiety and computer experience was supported. Furthermore, using ANOVA for Study 2, the findings show that in both science and non-science groups, men were more willing to accept new computer technology and showed less fear of computer technology than women. However, in both science and non-science groups, no significant gender differences were found in computer playfulness and perceived ease of use. Significant gender differences in e-learning self-efficacy were only found in the science group. The purpose of this study was to analyze the MyPlate initiative's usability as an educational tool for healthy eating. Specifically, this study compared perceived ease of use and confidence levels by cultural backgrounds, as defined by each individual's race/ethnicity (American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian/Pacific Islander, Black, Hispanic/Latino, and White), and by gender. A questionnaire was administered to students in introductory nutrition courses at California State University, Long Beach, to assess ethnic affiliation, gender, and perceived ease of use and confidence level in using the MyPlate method. Survey findings revealed that Whites have significantly higher perceived ease of use and confidence levels in utilizing MyPlate than Asians/Pacific Islanders and Hispanics/Latinos. No significant differences were found between men and women. These findings indicate the need to reevaluate MyPlate as a nutrition education tool for the culturally diverse U.S. population.

Les architectures multicœurs changent notre façon d'écrire des programmes. L'écriture de programmes concurrents est bien connue pour être difficile. Traditionnellement, l'utilisation de verrous (locks) permettant au code de s'exécuter en exclusion mutuelle, a été l'abstraction la plus largement utilisée pour l'écriture des programmes concurrents. Malheureusement, il est difficile d'écrire des programmes concurrents efficaces et corrects reposant sur des verrous. En outre, les verrous présentent d'autres problèmes, notamment celui du passage à l'échelle. Le concept de mémoire transactionnelle a été proposé comme une solution à ces difficultés. Les transactions peuvent être considérées comme une abstraction de haut niveau, ou une méthodologie pour l'écriture de programmes concurrents, ce qui permet au programmeur de pouvoir déclarer des sections de code devant être exécutés de façon atomique, sans avoir à se soucier des détails de synchronisation. Malheureusement, bien qu'assurément plus facile à utiliser que les verrous, la mémoire transactionnelle souffre encore de problèmes de performance et de facilité d'utilisation. Multicore architectures are changing the way we write programs. Writing concurrent programs is well known to be difficult task. Traditionally, the use of locks allowing code to execute in mutual exclusion has been the most widely used abstraction to write concurrent programs. Unfortunately, using locks it is difficult to write correct concurrent programs that perform efficiently. Additionally, locks present other problems such as scalability issues. Transactional memory has been proposed as a possible promising solution to these difficulties of writing concurrent programs. Transactions can be viewed as a high level abstraction or methodology for writing concurrent programs, allowing the programmer to be able to declare what sections of his code should be executed atomically, without having to worry about synchronization details. Unfortunately, although arguably easier to use then locks, transactional memory still suffers from performance and ease of use problems. In fact many concepts surrounding the usage and semantics of transactions have no widely agreed upon standards. This thesis specifically focuses on these ease of use problems by discussing how previous research has dealt with them and proposing new solutions putting ease of use first. The thesis starts with a chapter giving a brief overview of software transactional memory (STM) as well as a discussion of the problem of ease of use that is focused on in the later chapters. The research contributions are then divided into four main chapters, each looking at different approaches working towards making transactional memory easier to use

In retail, the explosion of data sources and data has provided incentive to invest in information systems (IS), which enable leaders to understand the market and make timely decisions to improve performance. Given that users’ perceptions of IS affects their use of IS, understanding the factors influencing user acceptance is critical to acquiring an effective business intelligence system (BIS) for an organization. Grounded in the technology acceptance model theory, the purpose of this correlational study was to examine the relationship between perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease of use (PEOU), and user acceptance of business intelligence systems (BIS) in retail organizations. A 9-question survey was used to collect data from end-users of BIS in strategic managerial positions from retail organizations in the eastern United States who reported using BIS within the past 5 years. A total of 106 complete survey responses were collected and analyzed using multiple linear regression and Pearson’s product-moment correlation. The results of the multiple linear regression indicated the model’s ability to predict user acceptance, F(2,103) = 21.903, p < .000, R2 = 0.298. In addition, PU was a statistically significant predictor of user acceptance (t = -3.947, p = .000), which decreased with time as shown by the results from Pearson’s product-moment correlation, r = -.540, n = 106, p < .01. The implications of this study for positive social change include the potential for business leaders to leverage BIS in addressing the underlying causes of social and economic challenges in the communities they serve.

3D JavaScript frameworks are used for creating interactive 3D in web applications. There are two prominent frameworks: Babylon.js and Three.js. They are often compared to one another where performance and ease of use are mentioned as important factors.  A web developer could face choosing a 3D framework. This thesis aims to aid in that process. It investigates how Babylon.js compares to Three.js when it comes to performance such as memory use and frames per second for the end-user consuming a web app. It also investigates how they compare when it comes to ease of use for the developer in terms of initial learnability.  For the performance part, a web app with a minimalistic one box animation was created with each framework and deployed on Netlify. The web app was accessed with a browser’s developer tools to record memory and frames per second. For the ease of use part, observation sessions were made with nine developers who were tasked with getting a basic 3D model up and running locally with each framework with the official documentation as a starting point, one hour limit respectively.  Results showed that both frameworks performed equally when it came to frames per second, and Babylon.js used 2,2 MB, 46 %,  more memory. Only five out of eight or 63 % of the participants managed to implement a 3D model in Babylon.js and five out of nine or 56 %  in Three.js. Three.js scored slightly higher on ease of use than Babylon.js, but neither framework scored high on the overall scale. Participants favoured Babylon.js when asked to choose. However, almost all had a frustrating experience with both during the sessions. Performance is similar except for memory use when it comes to lightweight implementations in these frameworks. Initial learnability could be a gatekeeper. If users do not get past the first hurdle fast with quick feedback that a framework works in the most basic sense, a conceivable risk is they could give up and never use it.

Requirements prioritization is an important part of developing the right product in the right time. There are different ideas about which method is the best to use when prioritizing requirements. This thesis takes a closer look at five different methods and then put them into an controlled experiment, in order to find out which of the methods that would be the best method to use. The experiment was designed to find out which method yields the most accurate result, the method’s ability to scale up to many more requirements, what time it took to prioritize with the method, and finally how easy the method was to use. These four criteria combined will indicate which method is more suitable, i.e. be the best method, to use in prioritizing of requirements. The chosen methods are the well-known analytic hierarchy process, the computer algorithm binary search tree, and from the ideas of extreme programming come planning game. The fourth method is an old but well used method, the 100 points method. The last method is a new method, which combines planning game with the analytic hierarchy process. Analysis of the data from the experiment indicates that the planning game combined with analytic hierarchy process could be a good candidate. However, the result from the experiment clearly indicates that the binary search tree yields accurate result, is able to scale up and was the easiest method to use. For these three reasons the binary search tree clearly is the better method to use for prioritizing requirements

The ever-evolving information technology gives users more opportunities, but also put higher demands on them. The digital agenda of the state and society clarifies the objectives and effects academic libraries’ development. E-books influence the development of organizational, economic, legal and political perspectives.   At the University Library in Gävle work is ongoing. The process is controlled by the acquisition policy which makes it clear that e-books should be purchased if possible. By offering e-books including textbooks it expands the availability for student demands. It is one of University Libraries fundamental tasks.   The curiosity about how this work is received by students is the purpose of this thesis and addresses the questions concerning what affects students' acceptance, perception, attitude and usage of e-books in studies at the University of Gävle?   Through an online questionnaire based on a theoretical foundation developed to be used in tests of new information technology, Technology Acceptance Model, students' perceptions of e-books is mapped. Important variables are perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use which influence the attitude, the intention to use and actual use.   The thesis concluded that students accept e-books as a supplement to printed books. The factor students’ value as most important is availability and that it is easy to find. The main goal of students' reading is to gain access to required literature of the course and perceived usefulness of e-books is primarily to its being available which affects studying and learning.

Communication is recognised as a human right by the United Nations. Currently there are millions of people who for a variety of reasons cannot communicate comfortably. For example, in the UK alone there are 250,000 people who as a result of a stroke are now unable to communicate and are affected by a condition known as Aphasia. These people are said to have Complex Communication Needs. With the proliferation of smart devices like tablets and Smartphone, people with Complex Communication Needs are discovering the assistive potential of these devices to aid them either in the recuperation of their communicative abilities or to assist them in their daily lives. These systems are called Alternative and Augmentative Communication Systems. However current AAC systems suffer from the fact that they are cumbersome to use and users require a long time to form sentences, with the result that they cannot confidently communicate and therefore are left isolated and frustrated. Even though much work has been done in the area these systems are remain slow and communication is not effective. This thesis investigates whether the inclusion of Natural Language Processing and Natural Language Generation techniques into Augmentative and Alternative Communication systems on mobile devices can improve the ease and speed of use for users with Complex Communication Needs by implementing “Dictum” an AAC app which makes use of NLG/NLP techniques. The work followed the approach of Action Research in which the target users help the investigator by identifying the problem, sanctioning the research and evaluating the results. Therefore, users were actively involved in the design of the application from the very start and gave feedback after each iteration leading to the final application. This work has found that the inclusion of NLP and NLG in AAC does indeed improve ease and speed of use when compared to popular apps available today. Dictum improves speed by doing two things: reducing the set space of words by providing words that are relevant to the last word inserted by using a Semantic Network of nouns and allowing the user to build sentences by requiring selection of key words only and delegating the responsibility of sentence formation to the application itself. In addition, during the course of this work, an effective mechanism of capturing requirements for users with Complex Communication Needs discovered by looking at how users adapt the functionality of their devices. The app was evaluated both quantitatively, by computing keystrokes savings and evaluating the interface using well-established HCI laws, and qualitatively by asking for the feedback of potential users and Speech and Language Therapists, following the practice of Action Research to involve those touched by the problem.

Many companies now actively use the Web as a key marketing and sales vehicle for their goods or services. To be successful, e-commerce Web sites must be useful, easy to use, easy to navigate, and easy to understand - measures of the Technology Acceptance Model's (TAM) variables Perceived Usefulness and Perceived Ease of Use . Although many studies have used the model to better understand e-commerce, the problem is that they have ignored one very important external variable - the effects that an aging population may have on the usability the Internet and of e-commerce Web sites. As people age, they begin to experience problems with their vision, their hearing, cognitive functions, and their mobility. The researcher modified the TAM to reflect the impact that aging may have on two variables, Web Site Usability and Internet Usability. A field study on four e-commerceWeb sites was conducted by 21 participants from two southeast Florida senior organizations. The participants, all people 65 years of age or older, included 11 students and staff members from a SeniorNet computer training class at the Daniel Cantor Senior Center and 10 members from the Lifelong Learning Institute, a department in the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences at Nova Southeastern University. The quantitative data collected during the field study were analyzed, tested for reliability, and validated using the partial least squares structural equation modeling approach. Qualitative data about seniors' use of the four Web sites were also collected and used to identify Web site designs that impede successful use of e-commerce Web sites. It was found that the research model accurately reflects the effects of the aging process and that the perceived usefulness of e-commerce Web sites positively and significantly influenced a senior's attitude toward using and intention to use the Web sites. It was also found that a Web site's usability positively and significantly influenced the perceived ease of use of e-commerce Web sites. Out of nine hypotheses, six were rejected and three were not rejected. The model and the results from the study can be used as a baseline for future studies.

Business Intelligence (BI) has become an essential part of the modern enterprise, and what used to be thought of as a luxury is now a matter of survival. Recent economic developments have forced companies to rethink their IT investment strategy. BI investments are now targeting the majority of people in the organisation instead of a select few. Thus, it is important to understand why users of a BI system choose to accept and use the system. Previous research has established the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as one of the most powerful and parsimonious models explaining user acceptance and usage behaviour of information technologies. This quantitative study replicates the original TAM study with the purpose to increase the understanding of BI usage, and investigates the behaviour of the users of the BI system QlikView in the case company GE Healthcare. The results showed a lower explanatory power for the model when compared to previous research. This indicates that how useful a user perceives a BI system to be does not affect the amount of usage to the same extent as predicted by TAM. Possible causes for this are discussed, with an emphasis on the influence of what tasks a user is confronted with and the measurement of system use.

Four modules were developed with the extensive use of Personal Home Page (PHP) Hypertext Processing and Structured Query Language (SQL) in order to improve web-integrated capabilities of events planning, user account management, mass electronic mailing systems, and form and survey creation. Prerequisites to using the modules are reduced to only needing a pre configured database and its associated credentials. In using a multi-step process to install each module, the user is able to specify minimal details that configure the functions of the web application. By developing a user accounts management system and integrating the other three web applications as sub-modules, each system introduces administrative control panels with user-controlled access capabilities. The results of the web modules show that both self-hosted and remote websites are capable of integrating the systems and that users with either no experience or some minimal experience are capable of using the modules. The modules can be obtained from the author's website. The page provides a brief overview of each module and instructions on how to install the module. The pages also provides a direct download link to for each module. For further instructions, please reference the individual instructions manual within the module.

This thesis uses Narrative Theory and Technology Acceptance Model to uncover the experiences, perceptions, and challenges that five experienced teachers face when using and integrating technology in their classroom. It gives narrative consideration of the value of unique experience by focusing on the stories of each participant, and it analyzes narrative themes. This study found that there were numerous impacts on teachers’ perceptions on the usefulness and ease of use of technology: this included (a) Limits: technology limits, teacher limits, student limits, and practical limits; (b) Support: school board, resources, equipment, parents; and (c) Dynamic environment (teacher-student feedback loop) which influence strategies for integrating technology: attitude, teaching orientation, classroom management, technology management, technology tools, and participant-observer strategies. Study limitations and recommendations are discussed.

In the past few years, rapid development of mobile technologies has been changing the way people approach purchasing. Using Technology Acceptance Model (Davis, 1986), the authors believe that IKEA’s furniture mobile application creates a certain value to its users. The study aims at examining the importance of perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and compatibility dimensions of IKEA’s app and their impact on consumers’ behavioral intentions to see whether or not they lead to actual purchase.   The thesis findings reveal that IKEA mobile application is not widely used. The results should have been applicable for similar companies as IKEA especially those which promote in-store app usage. However, it is not possible since the thesis contradicts the assumption of broad usage of such mobile application.   The analysis of the surveys releaved gender having a role in IKEA mobile app perception as well as occupation. The analysis is also contributing by a realization that mobile technologies lead to faster decision-making, more information availability, and therefore, can create better marketing communication strategies.

Context. The subject presented in this research is the fact that people resist IT induced change and want to maintain their current situation when implementing a new information system.  If no strategy is set to deal with it, resistance to change leads to Information System failure. Objectives. In this study, the author is investigating how to anticipate and handle resistance to change when implementing a new information system in order to succeed. This is followed by introducing the factors affecting user satisfaction which in turn affects user acceptance. Methods The data collection involves interviews in order to assemble appropriate, justifiable and relevant data, in addition to surveys to measure and validate the hypotheses in this thesis. The banking sector in Lebanon was selected as a source of data collection. Results. Three factors Perceived ease of use(PEOU), Perceived Usefulness (PU), and User Involvement react together to satisfy user and hence to make the user accept change. Conclusions. Based on the studies conducted so far with respect to this topic, there exists an indirect relationship between the three factors discussed in this thesis, the user satisfaction, and the user acceptance. The more the user finds the system easy to use (simple way of work with less efforts) and useful (the extent to which person’s work is improved) and the more he/sh  is involved, the more he is satisfied and hence the more he is willing to accept the change and causes system success.

Theoretical research on mass customization of consumer products/services has emphasized the importance of consumers embracing customized products as a prerequisite for this strategy to be successful. It seems obvious that if final consumers are not interested in customization there is no need to pursue customization strategies. Although an important body of literature on mass customization has recently emerged, there is a need to know more about customization from the consumer’s point of view. In that sense, this research examines consumers’ attitudes toward customized products/services in the context of high technology. Focusing on high-tech products that can be customized by consumers, this study proposed an empirical model combining the Technology Acceptance Model (Davis, 1986) with other critical variables (technology readiness, perceived customization, and customer customization sensitivity) that would help to understand consumers’ attitudes toward these types of products. To evaluate the model an experiment-based research design with a single-factor between subjects study was utilized. Based on the context of high-technology products, several scenarios of cellular phones were developed and tested. Participants were then asked about their perceptions of the cellular phones as well as measures of technology readiness, attitudes toward using the product, and intention to use the product. Utilizing linear regression, the hypothesized model was largely validated. As expected, the more positive the attitude toward using the product, the greater the intention to use the product. The study also showed that consumers need to believe that the product would be easy to use and useful in order for them to develop an interest in using it. In addition, results indicated that a product’s customization capabilities seem to have an impact on the perception of how easy to use that product is. At the same time, if a product is perceived as being very customizable it would also be perceived as very useful. Results did not support the hypothesized relationship of customer customization sensitivity and perceived usefulness and perceived customization and new alternative relationships were explored in the study. Finally, the analysis also confirmed the role of technology readiness as a moderator between perceived ease of use and perceived customization.

Even though the development of business intelligence is moving forward rapidly, a substantial number of organizations are yet to implement business intelligence. Therefore, this thesis aims at investigating what internal organizational obstacles that could be hindering the implementation of business intelligence and how these obstacles could be overcome. In order to answer this, the Technological Acceptance Model combined with the notion IT identity, is used as the theoretical framework. This thesis is of an interpretivist nature and data was collected through qualitative, semi-structured interviews with six experts within the field of business intelligence, consisting of consultants and business intelligence managers. The identified obstacles could be connected to employees’ perceived usefulness being too low in relation to the perceived non-pecuniary cost. The proposed solutions aims at raising the perceived usefulness and lower the non-pecuniary cost through different methods presented in this thesis.

Research questions:          RQ 1: What factors affect consumer behavior regarding streaming   services or TV-services? RQ 2: How do the factors affect consumers behavior when it comes to buying, continuing, substituting or ending a streaming service or TV-service?   Purpose:             We aim to discuss the underlying reasons, or factors as to  why consumers buy, substitute, continue or end subscriptions to   traditional TV, streaming services, or both mediums. We aim to use   focus groups to see if factors earlier quantifically studied can be   identified and supported qualitatively. This study will add to the   variability of the issue of streaming services versus traditional TV with   an in-depth view using a qualitative study on a Swedish sample.  Method:               A qualitative research method as well as a data driven content analysis   was chosen for this study. The data was collected by interviewing three   focus groups. Conclusion:       Cost was an important factor and was applicable in all factors and  behaviors. Cost was not a top priority for the informants unless the   increase was drastic. Range of content and specific content was a top  deciding factor for most behaviors, convenience was strongly   connected to continuing a service. Habit was a strong factor in   relation to continuing, technology was an important aspect   when it comes to usage. Other factors, such as bundling, leeching,   social components, free trial period or triggers are also significant,   however not deciding factors.

Social software technology has gained considerable popularity over the last decade and has had a great impact on hundreds of millions of people across the globe. Businesses have also expressed their interest in leveraging its use in business contexts. As a result, software vendors and business consumers have invested billions of dollars to use social software to improve business and employee productivity. The purpose of this study was to provide insights to business leaders and decision makers as they shaped their enterprise social software (ESS) delivery plans. A vast body of information exists on the benefits of ESS and its technical implementation, but little empirical research is available on employees' perceptions of ESS expectancy factors (i.e. usefulness and ease of use). This study focused on IT managers' perceptions of ESS expectancy factors to understand their behavioral intent to adopt ESS technology. Additional research was performed to uncover relationships and differences between IT Managers' adoption intentions and employee age, gender, and generational groups. Survey results were analyzed using a correlation research design and demonstrated significant relationships were found between IT managers' expectancy factors and their behavioral intent to adopt ESS technology. Differences were also demonstrated between IT managers' age, gender, and generational cohort groups. The results of this research should help business leaders gain insights into technology adoption factors among IT managers. Lastly, the practical applicability and opportunities for future research are discussed.

Icons are an important part of the user interface design. By representing objects and actions, they can quickly and efficiently convey information as well as make an interface more aesthetically pleasing for the user. Nowadays, the flat design is used as the industry standard while skeuomorphic icons fade away. In this study, we aimed to examine the value of both icon styles for a segment of users aged 7-9 years old. We tested the ease of use, recognition, and preference for skeuomorphic and flat design icons with twenty pupils from a Swedish primary school (N=20), using three experiments to measure these parameters. In the first experiment, participants completed simple tasks in an educational application prototype. The second experiment involved selecting icons with certain meaning from a grid. Lastly, the participants were presented with five pairs of icons and asked to choose which one they liked better. Although our results did not find a statistically significant difference in the ease of use or recognition for this age group, we found that the children had a strong preference towards the skeuomorphic design. Therefore, we suggest that skeuomorphic icons should be used in interfaces specifically designed for children, as they are more aesthetically pleasing for the users and do not affect the ease of use or recognition in a negative way.

In today’s world, we live in a technologically advanced environment where information access is huge and limitless. The advantage to this is that, people are able to create more information, share and communicate with each other instantly on the go regardless of where they are in the world. However on the downside, with endless information, it becomes confusing and difficult to filter which information is right for a person’s need. This goes hand-in-hand for business companies, as it requires strategic processes and tools to identify the information from the market, store and evaluate it into meaningful insights and lastly communicate it efficiently so that the value of it is not lost along the way. Therefore this study focuses on how augmented reality (AR) as an emerging digital technology is able to dissect and communicate information and bring value to those who are implementing it. What is more interesting in this study is to see the usefulness and ease of using AR from commercial and non-commercial aspects in B2B field. This study was conducted through a qualitative research approach with semi-structured interviews with five companies providing and using AR applications. In conclusion, AR brings value by transferring data faster and communicating it effectively through visualization of integrating computer-generated information with the real world as one. From commercial aspect, companies could use this technology in their marketing communication to increase customer involvement and perception of the brand. In contrast, from non-commercial perspective, companies could use AR as an internal resource to increase efficiency in operation process.

This study firstly examines the current literature concerning the electronic banking problems during implementation of electronic problems in Pakistan and causes that hinders this process. To investigate in the real-time scenario we have taken the case study of Muslim Commercial Bank Limited in Pakistan in order to understand “why” and “how” the electronic banking could not be implemented successfully.

The data was collected via interviews, surveys and bank website. Both qualitative and quantitative research approach has been used to investigate and have proper understanding of current e-banking issues. We have sent questionnaire to bank employees and interviews were conducted by the bank mangers. The response of interviews and surveys shows that there are certain issues that hinder the use of e-banking in Pakistan. In-spite of the fact that internet banking has been started in Pakistan, people are still using the old manual system to do the banking transaction, popularity of cash system, waiting in long queues for hours and lacking of proper computer education and trust etc are the major problems that are hurdles in electronic banking. On the other side there are a lot of reasons that the banks did not concentrate on internet banking and cash flow is still popular in banks and internet banking was used by the banks for the limited services.

Last years a lot of changes has been done and a greater understanding have been developed and now banks are offering various online banking services but banks are facing the problem of customer awareness regarding security and privacy of using Internet banking services as still customers are reluctant to use the online banking services so they prefer to come to banks and deposit the money by hand. So we have investigated these hindrance in our research and also we put some light on what are the advantages in using electronic banking and the how the customers are getting benefit by using e-banking in Pakistan.

We have developed our own model based upon the prior research. The results were presented in detail based upon the interview and questionnaire and later on we have given recommendations so that e-banking concept can be implemented in Pakistan and suggestions which can be very helpful for the future research

Companies providing digital news are today struggling with low purchase intentions among their consumers. Over the years, the Internet has become a vital part of how people consume news, and the growth in online consumption has led to a decline in printed circulation. Newspapers all around the world are earning only the minor share of their total revenue from digital operations. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of perceived ease-of-use, perceived usefulness, trust, reputation, word-of-mouth, and willingness to customize on consumer´s purchase intentions for digital news. This study aims to answer to the following research question:   What kind of effects do perceived ease-of-use, perceived usefulness, trust, reputation, word-of-mouth, and willingness to customize have on consumers purchase intentions for digital news?   In order to answer our research question, we have conducted a quantitative survey that was directed towards the subscribers of Resumé, the leading Scandinavian business magazine in the area of marketing and advertising. Currently, Resumé is struggling with earning money from their digital content and their practical problem provided us with a great opportunity to contribute to the field of research about digital purchase intentions.   Purchase intentions are an indicator of a consumer´s approach towards a purchase and prior studies demonstrates that perceived ease-of-use and perceived usefulness, which constitute the Technology Acceptance Model (Davis, 1989), are cornerstones in order to predict online consumer behavior. In our study, we also consider willingness-to-customize, which has been found to be an important decision-making factor regarding digital purchase intentions. People’s perceptions of the trust and reputation of a company are also proven to be relevant factors when predicting online consumer behavior, which in turn can be influenced by the word-of-mouth from other consumers, friends and family. Based on our literature review, we can conclude that there is a research gap related to the examination of the effects of these specific factors on consumer´s purchase intentions for digital news.   The findings of our regression analyses, based on 234 responses we received through the survey, demonstrate that perceived ease-of-use, perceived usefulness, and word-of-mouth have positive significant effects on consumer´s purchase intentions for digital news. Based on these results, we have developed a revised conceptual model that includes the three factors that were proven to affect digital purchase intentions. Our study makes a theoretical contribution to the research field about digital purchase intentions and online consumer behavior. The study also provides managerial implications concerning how companies can enhance the digital purchase intentions among their consumers. We suggest the practical recommendations directed towards managers in the digital news business in general, and for the managers of Resumé in particularly.

This study focuses on the implementation of Learning Management System (LMS) in the higher education sector in Iraq. Its aim is to develop a policy adoption framework for LMS implementation by scientifically investigating LMS adoption using a model that combines the principles of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Technology-Organisation-Environment (TOE) framework. The research methodology comprises of seven stages that adopts the interpretive paradigm and a mixed-methods research design. A case study design is used to investigate LMS integration in the University of Al-Qadisiyah. A TAM-TOE questionnaire is developed for the academic staff of the University of Al-Qadisiyah, in which the perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use of LMS are analysed in the case organisation. The technological, organisational, and environmental aspects of LMS implementation are also examined. The survey received valid responses from 283 academic staff. In-depth semi-structured interviews of 8 academics, administrative staff and IT personnel contributed to the qualitative data. The survey respondents are selected using stratified sampling whilst purposive sampling is used to select the interview participants. The questionnaire data was analysed using correlation analysis, whilst thematic analysis is used for the interview data. The study identifies the barriers to LMS implementation as: Lack of or limited teachers’ training, lack of commitment to constructivist pedagogy, lack of experience to use the new technology, lack of technical support, and lack of appropriate educational software. These results feed into the policy framework design. The contribution to research knowledge includes the creation of a new adoption model derived from TAM and TOE to examine the LMS implementation barriers in a war recovering economy like Iraq. This approach the integration of academic users’ acceptance with macro-level factors like government support. The results lease to the development of the LMS policy framework to guide policy makers to prioritise their limited LMS investments. The novelty of the work is the bringing together the considerations of the individual users and the socio-economic context.

Technology has been an integral part of human life since the 19th century’s Industrial Revolution, and the advancement of technologies has continued into the 21st century. Of all new emerging technologies, the computer has been identified as the most important, most complex and fastest emerging technology. In order for businesses to compete and survive within the business world, they are compelled to adopt new computer technologies. However, computers alone cannot improve organisational performance. Computers need to be accepted, optimally used and utilised by employees in order for an organisation to succeed. One such technology is SAP AG’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system which is a real-time, fully integrated business system used by more than 170 000 organisations in 120 countries. Measuring information system success has been a concern since its inception due to its complexity and difficulty to appraise. Researchers traditionally attempted to measure success by the delivering of a functional information system product within certain monetary and time constraints. Subsequently, evidence suggested that a more accurate measure of success lies within the field of system use. One model of assessing and predicting user acceptance and which has gained popularity in recent years is the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Apart from accepting the SAP ERP system, users should also be of the intention to continuously use it as a job requirement. The model for measuring user commitment is psychological attachment which determines whether the commitment is insincere and temporary, or long-lasting. Further, not only do users need to accept and continuously use an information technology like SAP ERP; they also need to be able to cope while using it. If not, psychological stress known as techno stress develops and prevents the optimal use of this system. With these three possible explanations for computer technology avoidance as a premise of departure, this study aims to determine the congruence, if any, between the sub-constructs of the TAM (perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, attitude toward using, behavioural intention to use and actual system use), psychological attachment (compliance, identification and internalisation), and techno stress (negative computer thoughts) within a South African SAP ERP user environment. A cross-sectional survey design was used rendering a convenience sample of N = 241 from among the SAP ERP user fraternity at a South African steel manufacturer. The measuring instruments used were the 23-item Technology Acceptance Questionnaire (TAM), the 10-item Psychological Attachment Questionnaire (PAQ) and the 20-item Computer Thoughts Survey (CTS-C). Study 1 which was a literature review confirmed conceptual congruence in that although the technology acceptance model was the most parsimonious, powerful and widely applied theoretical model, it was constrained due to the omission of social influence (psychological attachment) as a contributing factor in the processes of behavioural change towards technology acceptance. Furthermore, it was found that techno stress lowers employee efficiency and creates dissonance in the work environment, resulting in acceptance, hesitance or resistance towards the technology in question. Congruence was established between the system itself (technology acceptance), social relationships (psychological acceptance), and inherent psychological stress (techno stress). The aim of study 2 was to test the technology acceptance model within a South African SAP ERP user environment. Structural equation modelling confirmed that positive inter-construct relationships exist between all TAM constructs. Actual system use, which is the measurement for technology acceptance, was directly affected by behavioural intention to use and indirectly by perceived usefulness. In turn, behavioural intention to use was directly affected by perceived usefulness, attitude toward using and indirectly by perceived ease of use. Attitude toward using was directly affected by perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Perceived usefulness was directly affected by perceived ease of use. Study 3 revealed that internalisation had a direct positive effect on behavioural intention to use and an indirect effect on actual system use via behavioural intention to use. Furthermore, in this study identification had direct positive effects on internalisation, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and actual system use. Indirect effects emerged between identification and behavioural intention to use via internalisation as well as behavioural intention to use via perceived usefulness. Compliance, on the other hand, had negligible, negative direct effects on all TAM constructs of which the most prominent was that on attitude toward using. Results acquired from structural equation modelling in study four confirmed that weak negative relationships existed between techno stress and all TAM constructs. This finding is contrary to other studies and can be attributed to the fact that participants in this study were at large, proficient around SAP ERP and therefore experienced low levels of techno stress. Furthermore, aspects such as effective training, clear deadlines, effective teamwork, recurrent performance evaluations, job security, career development and realistic job load are all antidotes for techno stress which is believed to be current within the participant fraternity. In a concluding chapter the conclusions derived from the literature review, as well as the empirical research were presented and recommendations flowing from this research study were made.

Abstract Background: Around 45% of Swedish consumers canceled their online purchase in 2018, due to too high delivery fees and issues concerning payments. This research is focusing on e-payments by utilizing the Technology Acceptance Model 3 and its determinants perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, and how they contribute to the e-payment method decision. Additionally, the relevance of online trust and online security are examined in relation to purchasing cancellations due to trust and security issues in e-payment methods.   Purpose: The purpose of this research paper is to understand how Swedish millennial consumers’ perceptions of online security and online trust of e-payment methods effect on online purchasing cancellation. Furthermore, this paper examines how perceptions of usefulness and ease of use contribute as determinants in choosing between e-payment methods according to Swedish millennial consumers.   Method: The research is carried out in a qualitative manner by conducting a series of semi-structured face-to-face interviews. Fifteen Swedish millennials contributed to the empirical study. The gathered primary data is analyzed and then presented in chapter 4 and connected to the existing literature in chapter 5.   Conclusion: For the Swedish millennials, both online trust and online security are perceived as important determinants when evaluating whether or not the e-payment method could be used. When choosing between different e-payment methods, perceived ease of use seemed to be more important. Additionally, the decisions are made based on which e-payment method is secure, trustworthy, and easy to use. The presence of those determinants also increases perceived usefulness. When making purchases online domestically it appears that perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness weight heavier. While trust and security are given more importance if the purchase is made from a foreign website.

Background: With an increase in the elderly population and a general population growth, it is estimated that there will be 11 million people in Sweden by the year 2028. Elderly people (80 years plus) are forecast to be the age group with the biggest percentage increase. It is estimated that this age group will increase by 255,000 in the year 2028, a fifty percent increase from now. The public healthcare system is therefore in great need of finding new ways of making healthcare more accessible. Fortunately, e-health services have made healthcare more available for a wide range of people, especially people aged 60 plus. However, full utilization of these new services requires a certain technical skill level, which many users lack. Purpose: The study aims to research attitudes towards Swedish e-health services in people aged 60 plus. Method: Data collection is mainly based on semi structured individual interviews in which 8 interviewees partook in. The study used qualitative content analysis with an inductive approach of data analyzing. Result: The interviewees were used to Swedish e-health services such as” KRY” and ”1177”. Terms such as accessibility, effectivity, usability, opportunities, obstacles, and trust were all mentioned. Other opinions regarding navigation, design, technical complexity, information integrity and secretes were also expressed. Conclusion: Factors that according to interviewees affect opportunities in e-health services can be classified as, swiftness, flexibility, easy accessibility, overall simple communication, fast response, accessibility, no geographical distance if interviewees resides in rural areas, time efficiency. However, factors that can be obstructing for e-health services are bad communication, wrong treatment, faulty administrative handling, ill-treatment, long idle time, wrong diagnosis. Moreover, journal entries that are registered at health centers to which patients do not belong.
Bakgrund: Den äldre populationen har blivit större och år 2028 beräknas Sveriges folkmängd passera 11 miljoner människor. Allra mest procentuellt sett ökar de som är 80 år och äldre och beräknas år 2028 vara 255 000 flera än idag, en ökning med 50 procent. Den allmänna hälso-och sjukvården är därför i behov av nya lösningar som kan underlätta tillgängligheten till vård. Digitala läkartjänster har utökat tillgängligheten av vård och erbjuder olika möjligheter för patienter över sextio år. Det krävs olika tekniska kunskaper för att kunna dra nytta av digital vård. Begränsningar är ofta relaterade till användarnas utbildningsnivå och tekniska kunskaper. Syfte: Syftet med studien är att undersöka inställningen till svenska digitala läkartjänster hos personer över sextio år. Metod: Datainsamlingen grundades på semistrukturerade intervjuer och åtta respondenter medverkade i studien där intervjuerna ägde rum individuellt. I studien användes kvalitativ innehållsanalys som metod och med induktiv analys av data. Resultat: Respondenterna i studien använder digitala läkartjänster och har erfarenheter av exempelvis appen “KRY” och vårdguiden “1177”. De nämner fördelar som tillgänglighet, effektivitet, användbarhet, möjligheter, hinder och tillit. De reflekterar även över problem med navigering, design, teknisk komplexitet, integritet av information och sekretess. Slutsats: De faktorer som enligt respondenterna medför möjligheter med digitala läkartjänsterna kan klassificeras som snabbhet, lättillgänglighet, allmänt enkel kommunikation, snabbare svar, flexibilitet, tillgänglighet, inget geografiskt avstånd om respondenterna bor på landet, tidseffektivitet. Däremot faktorer som medför hinder handlar om dålig kommunikation, fel behandling, fel administrativ hantering, dålig bemötande, långa väntetider och fel diagnos, men även journalanteckning som ligger på en annan vårdcentral än den patienten tillhör.

In rapid advances in marketing strategies, Social Networks Marketing (SNM) is dramatically becoming an important aspect in promoting businesses. Social networks marketing has been found as one of the most effective tool used in businesses today, by most business owners in South Africa, to expand, and flourish their businesses. The explosion of Internet usage has drawn the attention of researchers towards social networks marketing. Research has shown that potential Internet users are doubtful, and indecisive to use, and accept SNM system in spite of their availability. Therefore, there is a need for researchers to identify some of the factors that determine user’s unwillingness to accept and use the system. According to the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU), and Perceived Usefulness (PU) are the two major constructs in determining the use and acceptance of various information systems. These beliefs may not fully explain the user’s behaviour towards newly introduced system, such as social networks marketing. Hence, this study had successfully implemented TAM to the newly proposed information system (social networks marketing system). Using TAM as a theoretical framework, the study added two new constructs “perceived credibility” and “awareness” as part of the factors influencing user’s acceptance of social networks marketing. The purpose of the study was to explore the impact of social networks marketing system by SMEs in South Africa, and perception of consumers. In addition, this research investigated factors that influence users’ acceptance of social networks marketing using TAM as the basis for the theoretical framework. Questionnaire-based study done in 2 groups; consumers and small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs), in this work, represent the major users of social networks marketing in South Africa. The research model was tested using data collected from 143 questionnaires and analysed using linear regression. The results show that user’s intentions to use SNM are strongly and positively correlated with user acceptance. The empirical results confirmed that perceived credibility and perceived usefulness are the strongest determinant in predicting user’s intention to use SNM. In addition, many of the South African SMEs using SNM, have presumed that SNM has positively and negatively impacted their businesses.

Trust is a concept used throughout our daily lives. We give trust to friends, colleagues and strangers. We also give trust to the technical artifacts we use in our everyday lives. We must also rely on the services we use to work the way we expect them to. There is plenty of research on trust in e-commerce and online banking on website based platforms. What is missing is research on how we give trust to mobile map applications (and mobile applications in general), and how this trust, or lack of trust, affect our use of map applications in everyday life. We will also use a model of trust to see if we can get a deeper understanding of this trust.

This research work investigates and reports on the contribution of usability and perceptual frameworks towards understanding and ultimately increasing usage of a sales website and a corporate marketing website for a major insurance company in South Africa. It investigates whether the application of usability principles to the sales web positively influences the usage of the sales web system as a tool by intermediaries, and in so doing help the organisation recoup their investment and lower operational costs. This financial services (traditionally insurance) company, like many organisations, is in the process of migrating key operational systems onto web platforms to take advantage of benefits such as the ubiquity of web access and services orientated architecture among others. The research reviewed key frameworks in the area of technology acceptance or usage namely  Nielsen‟s usability attributes (Nielsen, 2003)  The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), (Davis, 1989) 
 The Theory of Reasoned Action (Fishbein &
Ajzen, 1975)  The Theory of Planned Behavior (Ajzen, 1985)
and derived a theoretical summative model (the Conceptual Research Model) that combined both usability and perceptual dimensions. The applicability of this summative model was empirically tested using quantitative data relating to system 
usage and user perception. Empirical evidence was gathered to prove and refine the Conceptual Research Model (CRM), and the data substantiated the inclusion of the constructs in the CRM, as well as the efficacy of the model in a financial services organisation. Through testing of the CRM, this research has also confirmed which specific attributes of usability can be focussed on to bring about positive change in users‟ usage behaviour and adoption of a website or web application.

This study investigates the 404 error and in what way feedback should be given to the user in an error message to generate a good user experience. To investigate this, data was gathered from 1) a literature review looking at previous studies in User Experience Design, as well as different models to evaluate ease of use and perceived usefulness, 2) a pre-study questionnaire with nine participants who were asked questions related to error messages and feedback in general, and 3) two user tests; the first including 16 participants and the second including 46 participants. During the user tests the participants interacted with a prototype of a website that included 404 error messages. In the first user test the participants' user experience was evaluated based on the TAM model, including perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. The second user study focused more on text and illustrations and their effects on the user experience. Three versions of texts were tested, formal, apologetic and amusing. The illustrations either included a character or an object. The result showed that, in general, the users preferred formal texts, as well as illustrations that included a character. The result also suggested that there is not one type of feedback that fits all users, in order to generate a good user experience, it is important to know the audience.

Syftet med denna studie var att ta reda på om animationer kan användas för att påverka en användares förtroende för en webbplats, vid situationer där förtroende har en stor betydelse. Som till exempel registrering av prenumerationstjänster eller sociala medier. Syftet är även att ta reda på vilka animationer som ger ett förtroendeingivande intryck. För att genomföra undersökningen har litteratursökning, visuell innehållsanalys och enkätundersökning använts. Resultatet visade på att animationer kan användas för att öka en användares förtroende för en webbplats. Resultatet visade även vilka animationer som kan användas för att öka förtroendet. Slutsatserna visar att webbplatser bör innehålla någon form av animation för att öka förtroendet, användaren vill få feedback när interaktion med webbplatsen sker. Feedbacken ska ske så snabbt som möjligt och med någon form av varaktighet. Animationerna bör öka kontrasten på elementet gentemot sin omgivning, oavsett vilken sorts animering det gäller. Dock bör inte kontrasten vara för påtaglig.
The purpose of this study was to investigate if animation can be used to influence a user’s trust in a website in situations where trust is of great importance, such as registration of subscription service or social media. The purpose is also to find out which type of animations that gives a trustworthy impression. Literature studies, visual content analysis and questionnaire survey have been used to carry out the survey. The result showed that animations can be used to increase a user's trust in a website. It also showed which animations can be used to increase trust. The results show that websites should contain some form of animation to increase trust, the user wants to receive feedback when interacting with the site. The feedback should be given as quickly as possible and with some kind of duration. The animations should increase the contrast of the element to its surroundings, no matter what kind of animation it is. However, the contrast should not be too obvious.

With the increasing usage of smart phone and internet, mobile banking service has increasingly become the important channel in banking sector. However, the great customer experience is the crucial factor to a successful digital service of banking. This study is focused on the relationship among user experience, perceived ease of use of mobile banking and loyalty by the method of structural model. The 313sample are collected from one of leading Taiwan banks that launched mobile banking business. The study result demonstrates that the level of significant effects of user experience on loyalty is feel, action, relate, and sense in turn. The experience of think has no significant effect on the customer loyalty. In addition, the perceived ease of use has significant effect on the loyalty, which means the degree of ease use by customer will affect the customer loyalty. The perceived ease of use is significantly related to the action, sense, relate, think, and feel in turn. As a result, this study has demonstrated that great experience will create high brand loyalty, especially in the factor of feel, action, and relate that related to the perceived ease of use.

Livestock farms have recently experienced a significant growth in their size and this is due to the increase in animal products. This has a technical impact on farmers' daily activities. As there are more animals, it becomes more difficult for the farmers to monitor, take care of and ensure the animals are treated in a healthy manner. The purpose of this study is to examine how farmers are affected by the use of the Precision Livestock Farming (PLF) systems and how they have come to accept the technology. The study will take up an important aspect of the impact and effect of PLF. The aim of the study is to find out how farmers are affected by PLF systems in regard to Ease of Use (EOU) and Usefulness. A total of five semi-structured interviews consisting of two researchers, one product advisor, one support worker and one farmer were conducted. An observation was also conducted along with the farmer and support worker. During the interviews, the participants answered our questions regarding PLF and its EOU and Usefulness. The data was analyzed using a thematic analysis and the results showed that PLF systems are important and useful but need further EOU development. Furthermore, the results showed that the poorly designed user interfaces impact the farmers’ attitude and intention towards using the system, which also affects their attitude towards the Usefulness of the PLF systems. The research confirms the importance of including farmers under the development phase of PLF systems. Lastly, this research might be the foundation for further research on how to improve and develop a more user-friendly PLF system.

Due to the rapid emerging of new technology, service innovation through new technology has become an important approach for the future economic growth policy. A 2 × 2 with pre-test and post –test experimental design was conducted to explore how the psychological and economic factors influence customers’ new technology adoption behavior. The results showed that the conversion costs and the expected uncertainty have different interaction effects on customers’ new technology adoption behavior and value. When the subjects experience low switching costs with the uncertainty of the expected positive context, the positive expected uncertainty will enhance its intention to adopt the new technology for services. On the contrary, when the subjects experience the positive expected uncertainty and high conversion cost context, the positive expected uncertainty will ease their adoption of the new technology for services. In addition, under the positive expected uncertainty context, the switching cost will have different effect on customer service value depending on the cost is high or low. Implications for TAM theory and technology service practice are discussed.
