Thirty patients were examined, selected and individual impression made. After the impressions made, the casts were mounted in a special apparathus the Gnathothensiometer to measure the differences among three different centric relation techniques. Technique 1 - A bite rim, refined with zinc-oxide-eugenol. Technique 2 - A bite rim, refined with zinc-oxide-eugenol plus a jig. Technique 3 - A bite frame with gauze and zinc-oxide-eugenol. According to the measurements, the technique more accurate, for register the centric relations, seem to be the one using the frame of Jones (Technique nº 3).

According to the type of weight component chose lifting equipment types and model, aiming at the actual situation of construction formulated the steel structure installation overall process, the stress of the bed-jig to install a performance is calculated, and the steel frame column installation method is studied. The engineering experience and research content in the paper can provide a reference for the similar engineering.

This research aims to develop a method to efficiently reduce the body input force from the chassis due to road-induced excitation. To this end, the frequency response function–based substructuring method is employed to model the vehicle cross member and coupling points. Using this model, the dynamic stiffness modification factor of elastic bushing at the effective path is predicted for reducing road noise. Because of the difficulties in directly obtaining dynamic properties of body mount bushings pressured into the sub-frame, the frequency response function–based substructuring model and inverse formulation method are used to indirectly estimate the bushing’s dynamic properties. Therefore, the primary focus of this study is to validate the feasibility of using the inverse formulation method for deriving road noise improvement factor on a simple cross member application. In this feasibility validation, road excitation is simply substituted with a shaker excitation in vertical direction. The previously developed suspension rig that enables a direct measurement of the body input force at the coupling points and the specially developed cross member jig are used for the validation test.

The multidisciplinary design optimization is suitable for modern large aircraft, and it has the potential in conceptual phase of aircraft design especially. An integrated optimization method considering the disciplines of aerodynamics, structure and stability for large aircraft design in conceptual phase is presented. The objective is the minimum stiffness of a beam-frame wing structure subject to aeroelasticity, aerodynamics, and stability constraints. The aeroelastic responses are computed by commercial software MSC. Nastran, and the cruise stability is evaluated by the linear small-disturbance equations. A viscous-inviscid iteration method, which is composed of a computational fluid dynamics tool solving the Euler equations and a viscous correction method, is used for computing the flow over the model. The method ensures effective and rapid computation. In this paper, a complete aircraft model is optimized, and all the responses are computed in the trim condition with a fixed maximum takeoff weight. Genetic algorithm is utilized for global optimizations, and the optimal jig shape, the elastic axis positions and the stiffness distribution can be attained adequately. The results show that the method has a value of application in engineering optimizations. For the satisfaction of the total drag and stability constraints, the structure weight usually needs a price to pay. The integrated optimization captures the tradeoff between aerodynamics, structure and stability, and the repeated design can be avoided.

Two distinct hepatitis E virus (HEV) isolates, designated HE-JI3 and HE-JI4, were identified in a single patient with acute hepatitis in Japan, who had not travelled abroad. The HEV load of HE-JI3 at admission was 102 copies/ml, but that of HE-JI4 was tenfold higher at 103 copies/ml. The viraemia of HE-JI4 persisted for up to 16 days from admission, whereas HE-JI3 disappeared at 9 days after admission. The entire nucleotide sequence of the HE-JI4 isolate and partial nucleotide sequences of open reading frames (ORFs) 1 and 2 of the HE-JI3 isolate were determined. The full-length nucleotide sequence of HE-JI4 consisted of 7171 nucleotides excluding the poly(A) tail and contained ORF1 encoding 1684 amino acids, ORF2 encoding 671 amino acids and ORF3 encoding 114 amino acids. Sequence and phylogenetic analyses of the HEV genomes indicated that HE-JI4 was most closely related to an HEV isolate (T1) of genotype IV with the same strategy for translation of ORF2 and ORF3, but which differed from it by 16·5% over the entire genome. The HE-JI3 isolate showed the highest nucleotide identity (88·6–95·1%) to the genotype III HEVs, having higher identity to human and swine HEV isolates from the United States (US1, US2 and swUS1) than to those reported thus far from Japan (JRA1 and swJ570). The two co-infecting strains of HE-JI3 and HE-JI4 identified from the single patient shared only 80·1% nucleotide identity. These results indicate that multiple genotypes of HEV co-circulate in Japan, and that genotype IV comprises a remarkably heterogeneous group of HEVs.

The cylinder head and crankcase cover are components of an engine produced by a manufacturing company in Tangerang. Companies need to make improvements to the production process of these components in order to compete with their competitors. The improvement of the production process is done by improving the machining process stages and re-designing the engine product fixture. Actually the company already has a fixture for the engine machining process, but the fixture cannot be used to produce engine components because it still does not function properly. The problem that occurs is the deviation of the dimensions of machining results and the ineffectiveness of the machining process thereby reducing work productivity. Therefore, it is necessary to design a new fixture that is able to answer both of these problems. Fixture design through the application of the VDI 2222 method combined with the design method according to the Handbook of Jig Fixture has resulted in a fixture design and estimated new machining process time for engine components. The fixture design is then analyzed and validated using engineering software to ensure the fixture's rigidity of the clamping force, machining force, and deflection that occur during the machining process which can have an impact on dimensional deviations. Based on the results of the study conducted, a fixture design for machining cylinder head and crankcase cover products has been produced with fixture dimensions of 450 x 459 x 1125 with a weight of 190 kg. The time needed to complete the cylinder head product is 308.67 seconds and the crankcase cover is 224.19 seconds. The maximum clamping force required is 0.36 kN. Deflection that occurs in the clamping rod is 0.0048 mm, the fixture frame is 0.029 mm and the product deformation is 0.06 mm. The fixture design is expected to be able to solve the problems that exist in the company today.

Category: Hindfoot Introduction/Purpose: There are multiple surgical osteotomies described for the correction of heel varus. An adequately powered clinical comparison of these osteotomies has not been published. In this study we used 18 identical 3D prints of a patient with heel varus to compare the surgical correction obtained with a Dwyer, oblique or Z osteotomy. The adequately powered statistical results of this study quantify the unique advantages and limitations of these osteotomies. Methods: A CT scan of a patient with heel varus (16 degrees) from Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease was selected for 3D modeling. Eighteen identical 3D prints were created of an anatomical construct of the talus, calcaneus and cuboid. Coordinate frames were added to the talus and calcaneus to evaluate rotation. Six of the prints were CT scanned to establish baseline data measurements (Uncut Control Group). All 18 prints were then divided into 3 groups of 6 models each. A custom jig was used to precisely and accurately replicate a different osteotomy in each group( Dwyer, oblique or Z). A 1 cm wedge was removed from each osteotomy. Following the simulated surgeries, all 18 models were CT scanned using the same parameters as had been used for the uncut models. Anatomic and coordinate measurements were calculated using multiplanar reconstruction image processing. Coordinate measurements were established as the rotation of the calcaneal coordinate frame with respect to the talar coordinate frame. Results: A standard 1-way analysis (ANOVA) was performed on the initial data. Additionally, a Tukey Studentized Range test was run using the raw data to compare the uncut model, Dwyer, oblique and Z osteotomies for all variables that showed statistically significant differences using the ANOVA. Coronal angle correction (Figure 1): The overall ANOVA test is significant (p < 0.001). Tukey post-hoc comparisons demonstrate that Z is significantly different from Oblique (mean difference = 8.8; 95pct CI [5.5,12.0]; p < 0.001) and Dwyer (mean difference = 10.4; 95pct CI [7.1, 13.6]; p < 0.001), but Oblique and Dwyer are not significantly different from each other (mean difference = 1.6; 95 pct CI [-1.6, 4.9]; p=0.422). Calcaneal shortening (Figure 2): The overall ANOVA test is significant (p < 0.001). All group comparisons are significant except for the Z vs Uncut (p=0.919). Lateral translation (Figure 3): The overall ANOVA test is significant (p < 0.001). All group comparisons are statistically significant from one another. Conclusion: The Z osteotomy provided significantly more correction in the coronal plane (varus/valgus), with no significant shortening of the calcaneus, compared to the Dwyer and oblique osteotomies. The Z osteotomy, however, produced much less correction than anticipated, with only 3 degrees of final heel valgus. The Dwyer and Oblique osteotomies remained in varus. None of the osteotomies provided more than 6mm lateral translation of the tuberosity. These results have significant application to the appropriate choice of a calcaneal osteotomy for heel varus.

AbstractThis study argues for a frame semantic approach to the treatment of Taoist terms, which are Chinese culture-specific. It takes three Taoist aesthetic terms 虚(xu), 无(wu) and 静(jing) as a case study to explore how Chinese-English dictionaries can make use of semantic frames in the treatment of Taoist terms. As the study shows, a Taoist-aesthetics frame can be constructed in comparison with the Aestheticsframe in FrameNet. When treating Taoist terms, the core frame element “Entity” facilitates the meaning explanation by making the terms more intelligible. The non-core frame element “Circumstances” should be highlighted as it helps the dictionary to provide a more accurate definition of Taoist terms.

Анотація:
This paper presents the development of a jig for sintering a hollow tube mat. The jig consisted of metal frames, clampers, rails and wheels that were assembled together to hold a stack of hollow tubes in a form of a honeycomb structure. The sintering process involved a large oven where the hollow tube was sintered up to 120°C within two hours. During the sintering process, a partial of plastic parts was melted to allow diffusion around the particle cores. A clamping force from the jig held the tubes to make sure that the molten region around the sintered tubes retained in contact. This gives the compact a sufficient strength to hold together as the heat was removed. The jig developed in this study was capable to produce a hollow cellular mat within the size of approximately 1m (width) x 1m (length) x 1m (height).

Анотація:
According to an example of the broken jib accident of a high pedestal jib crane (HM2564) in a Shipyard Co., Ltd. in Guangdong province, this paper used a finite element software ANSYS to establish a solid model for the jib frame of the crane, calculated the stresses of jib system under various actual working conditions and checked the strengths. Simultaneously, the reasons of broken jib were quantitatively analyzed from the perspective of mechanics. The results show that the strengths of the jib system meet the requirements of safe use under all kinds of working conditions, but the related hoistman incorrectly operated the facility, cables can’t be winded normally in pulleys, thus resulting in that the tensile force of a cable was directly applied on the main jib by pulley spindle and the failure of the jib frame occurred under heavy compressive force of lifting cables.

In order to render realistic images, the reflectance of surfaces must be simulated accurately. Generally, the ray tracing rendering technique is used to make a material reflect its surroundings, since it represents with great fidelity the behavior of light. However, ray tracing is still a very costly algorithm, so far mostly indicated in offline rendering scenarios. This situation is even more challenging for scenes containing 3D deformable meshes, since their geometry and, thus, the acceleration structures used, need to be updated in each frame of the animation. In this paper, we present an extended version of our hybrid algorithm that combines rasterization and a pure ray tracing through the NVIDIA OptiX to render high quality fast reflections, including scenes with deformable models. Additionally, we analyze and compare the performances of different NVIDIA OptiX acceleration data structures for generating reflections of static and deformable models in walkthrough animations. The results show that NVIDIA OptiX acceleration structures reach high frames per second for static objects. However, there is a performance decay in terms of frames per second when dealing with deformable models, since it becomes necessary to update the acceleration structures to cope with changing geometry, but even under these restrictions, we were able to achieve interactive frame rates.

Category: Hindfoot; Ankle; Ankle Arthritis; Basic Sciences/Biologics; Trauma Introduction/Purpose: Autologous bone graft is an important tool in the foot and ankle surgeon’s arsenal, and remains the gold standard despite the release of new biologics. The Reamer-Irrigator-Aspirator (RIA) system has become an option for local intramedullary bone graft harvest. Evidence supports the quality of graft and safety of RIA in the femur, and some series have demonstrated its value in tibial reaming for hindfoot fusion. However, there has been no analysis of the mechanical effects of the system on the tibia. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of retrograde intramedullary reaming on the mechanical properties of cadaveric tibias, with the hypothesis that this will produce no significant difference in torsional strength between groups. Methods: Intact, fresh frozen tibias were obtained for testing, totaling 11 matched pairs. One tibia was chosen for reaming from each pair with pre-test randomization. The selected tibia was reamed in a retrograde fashion over a guidewire to 12mm, which is the smallest diameter RIA device available. Each tibia was potted and mounted in a custom jig for testing on a servohydraulic test frame. Each specimen was first tested non-destructively for compressive properties using standardized loading rates. Each specimen was then loaded in torsion under constant angular velocity of 9˚/second until failure or the limit of the load cell was reached. Mechanical properties were determined from the load-displacement curve and compared between reamed and unreamed matched pairs using paired samples statistics, with statistical significance set at p=0.05. Results: Specimens were of mean age 56 (range 39-67) years, with 55% being female. The mean compressive stiffness of reamed (560.4 +- 111.7 N/mm) and unreamed (628.2 +- 117.2 N/mm) tibias were not statistically different (p = 0.167). Nine of the reamed specimens and 10 of the unreamed specimens fractured during torsional testing. Torsional testing for stiffness (178.4 Nm/rad +- 59.4 vs 168.1 +- 40.8, p=0.370), rigidity (50.4 Nm2/rad +- 19.1 vs 47.0 +- 13.7, p=0.331), and ultimate load capacity (71.2 Nm +- 24.3 vs 71.9 +- 20.5, p=0.880) showed minimal differences between reamed and unreamed specimens, respectively. Conclusion: Mechanical testing identified no statistically significant differences in torsional or compressive properties of our cadaveric tibias after intramedullary reaming. There was a trend towards decreased compressive stiffness, but this is not a common mechanism of fracture. Our findings suggest that the use of the smallest size RIA system in the tibia does not drastically alter the mechanical properties or require prophylactic fixation. This paper describes codes and practice for designing welded structures such as railroad truck frames. For designing an initial configuration, rather simple criteria are desired, although most codes such as AWS, AISC, etc. are complex. They consist of a variety of welded joint categories, which make a designer feel difficult when deciding the initial configuration. Therefore, such codes are considered to be mainly used for the evaluation of designed and constructed structures, and not to be used for deciding the initial configuration. The JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) for a railroad truck frame is explained as an example of a simple code, and is compared with some fatigue data. This standard is thought to be useful for a designer. However, the result of this investigation suggests a modification of the JIS for obtaining more reasonable criteria. Desirable criteria should be simple for a designer and sufficiently safe for structures. Additional fatigue data of welded joints, a statistical study for desirable non-fracture probability, and methods of structural stress analysis are to be researched in the future. A practical fatigue testing method is also needed for investigating the strength in a high cycle region such as 108.

Due to economical, ecological and functional reasons, lightweight-construction is continuously gaining importance. Therefore, lightweight space frames made of pipe profiles are subsequently of higher importance in today’s technology. Today, the lower limits of the production range of lightweight space frames are set by joining processes that require jigs. For a flexible variation in a small-scale production, the use of latching elements for the pre-attachment in the jigfree assembly of frame structures serves as a good approach. In consideration of the analysis of the actual situation this article takes up this approach and points out the potential enabled by latching elements. Subsequently, the implementation of laser cutting will be motivated and the results of the first experiments on reinforced and unreinforced profiles will be discussed. To conclude this article, the challenges and approaches for the integration of this procedure to an existing handling and machining kinematics will be pointed out, and finally the implementation potentials of the procedure within an entire process-chain will also be mentioned.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and functionality of the body structure operating under maximum load. Aluminum alloy was used as the body structure’s material. The body structure consisted of side frame, under frame, roof frame, and end frame. Of these components, the side frame and under frame were the most important components considering the vehicle and passenger loads. Both structural analysis and loading test were performed under the condition based on "Performance Test Standard for Electrical Multiple Unit" with the reference code JIS E 7105. The test results showed that the body structure is safe and stable under the condition of designed load.

Pairwise rigid registration aims to find the rigid transformation that best registers two surfaces represented by point clouds. This work presents a comparison between seven algorithms, with different strategies to tackle rigid registration tasks. We focus on the frame-to-frame problem, in which the point clouds are extracted from a video sequence with depth information generating partial overlapping 3D data. We use both point clouds and RGB-D video streams in the experimental results. The former is considered under different viewpoints with the addition of a case-study simulating missing data. Since the ground truth rotation is provided, we discuss four different metrics to measure the rotation error in this case. Among the seven considered techniques, the Sparse ICP and Sparse ICP-CTSF outperform the other five ones in the point cloud registration experiments without considering incomplete data. However, the evaluation facing missing data indicates sensitivity for these methods against this problem and favors ICP-CTSF in such situations. In the tests with video sequences, the depth information is segmented in the first step, to get the target region. Next, the registration algorithms are applied and the average root mean squared error, rotation and translation errors are computed. Besides, we analyze the robustness of the algorithms against spatial and temporal sampling rates. We conclude from the experiments using a depth video sequences that ICP-CTSF is the best technique for frame-to-frame registration.

Læreren spiller en nøkkelrolle i utviklingen av nye undervisnings- og læringsmåter, og det er først når læreren integrerer teknologien i sin undervisning at nye praksiser oppstår. Jeg viser noen konkrete eksempler på bruk av teknologi på nye måter, samt refleksjon rundt utviklingen framover.

The structure of bogie frame is meshed by hexahedral and tetrahedral elements respectively. FE analysis is taken based on the loads defined by JIS E 4207 standard and the stress distributions of two separate models are obtained. To clarify the accuracy of two kinds of finite element models, the bench test of the bogie frame is carried out. It shows that both the hexahedral and tetrahedral models are valid according to the comparison between FE results and experimental values when the structural model is regular. However, for complex structure model 10-node tetrahedral model takes precedence.

ABSTRACTWe present a workflow to track icebergs in proglacial fjords using oblique time-lapse photos and the Lucas-Kanade optical flow algorithm. We employ the workflow at LeConte Bay, Alaska, where we ran five time-lapse cameras between April 2016 and September 2017, capturing more than 400 000 photos at frame rates of 0.5–4.0 min−1. Hourly to daily average velocity fields in map coordinates illustrate dynamic currents in the bay, with dominant downfjord velocities (exceeding 0.5 m s−1 intermittently) and several eddies. Comparisons with simultaneous Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) measurements yield best agreement for the uppermost ADCP levels (~ 12 m and above), in line with prevalent small icebergs that trace near-surface currents. Tracking results from multiple cameras compare favorably, although cameras with lower frame rates (0.5 min−1) tend to underestimate high flow speeds. Tests to determine requisite temporal and spatial image resolution confirm the importance of high image frame rates, while spatial resolution is of secondary importance. Application of our procedure to other fjords will be successful if iceberg concentrations are high enough and if the camera frame rates are sufficiently rapid (at least 1 min−1 for conditions similar to LeConte Bay).

The classification of verbs in Levin's (1993) English Verb Classes and Alternations: A preliminary Investigation, on the basis of both intuitive semantic grouping and their participation in valence alternations, is often used by the NLP community as evidence of the semantic similarity of verbs (Jing & McKeown 1998; Lapata & Brew 1999; Kohl et al. 1998). In this paper, we compare the Levin classification with the work of the FrameNet project (Fillmore & Baker 2001), where words (not just verbs) are grouped according to the conceptual structures (frames) that underlie them and their combinatorial patterns are inductively derived from corpus evidence. This means that verbs grouped together in FrameNet (FN) might be semantically similar but have different (or no) alternations, and that verbs which share the same alternation might be represented in two different semantic frames.

Forfatteren har ikke nytt noen særlig respekt de siste femti årene. Allerede i 1946 slo W. K. Wimsatt og Monroe C. Beardsley fast at forfatterintensjonen ikke hadde noe å si for det litterære verkets mening, og i 1968 kunngjorde Roland Barthes at forfatteren var død. Dette må man imidlertid ha lov til å tvile på. Her vil jeg først kort drøfte hva slags motiv Barthes og andre kan ha hatt for å kvitte seg med forfatteren som en faktor i tolkningsprosessen. Så vil jeg foreslå at det kan være nyttig å igjen la forfatteren delta i den samtalen vi fører for å komme fram til meningen i en litterær tekst. Her kommer Donald Davidsons trianguleringsbegrep til å spille hovedrollen, særlig slik det legges fram i hans essay "Three Varieties of Knowledge." Så vil jeg kort analysere to scener fra henholdsvis Arne Garborgs romaner Bondestudentar (1883) og Mannfolk (1886), for å prøve å vise at en tolkning kan bli en mer nøyaktig beskrivelse av leseprosessen, og følgelig mer objektiv, dersom vi tar forfatteren med på råd. IKO startet i 1945 i beskjedne kår som et Kristelig Pedagogisk Kontor med vekt på de fagligpedagogiske oppgavene. Instituttets grunnlegger Bjarne Hareide, som var instituttstyrer fram til 1971, knyttet til seg en vitenskapelig skolert gruppe som preget de første tiårene. Tidsskriftet Prismet ble et viktig talerør for den religionspedagogiske utviklingen. Fra starten av var skolen og hjemmet i sentrum, etter hvert ble den menighetspedagogiske utvikling sentral, med satsingen på dåpsopplæringen. Under 50-årsjubileet i 1995 valgte IKO Røtter til liv som motto. Jeg arbeidet da som instituttstyrer, og hadde fulgt utviklingen på det kirkelig-pedagogiske felt i ulike roller: som konfirmasjonskonsulent i Kirkerådet fra 1979 med ansvar for innføring av Plan for konfirmasjonstiden (PKT), som prest i en femårsperiode fra 1985 i Brasil, der jeg var med i kirkens kateketikk-utvalg, og deretter som instituttstyrer i en periode til 1996 med sterkt engasjement i Det Lutherske Verdensforbund (LVF).I denne artikkelen belyser jeg noen trekk ved utviklingen av norsk menighetspedagogikk. Det har ved de tidligere jubileer vært skrevet mye om de første 50 år, og det med god grunn. Jeg har valgt å fokusere på den siste del av historien, og trekker fram aspekter som i liten grad har vært belyst. Aktørperspektivet vil prege valg av tema, særlig fordi møtet med den latin-amerikanske religionspedagogikk i så stor grad har preget mitt faglige engasjement (Pettersen 2007).

The wooden shan-jia structure (The braced arch structure), the main load-bearing structure in the traditional tile board room of Yi minority, is one of the residential elements which are most distinctive and most valuable to be protected. As the traditional architectural culture of the Yi, the structure is still being widely used in local residence, but the Liangshan Yi Minority is located in high intensity earthquake zone, which cause large security risks on the wooden frame system. In this paper, three kinds of common and typical layouts of braced arch structure are collected after investigating of the wooden shan-jia structure. The structural weaknesses are found through the simulation of ANSYS. Finally, propose some measures to optimize the structural design, in order to enhance the seismic optimization and improve the construction technology of tile board room.

We recently discovered that the luminous radio-quiet quasi-stellar objects (QSO) LBQS 0302–0019 at z = 3.286 is likely accompanied by an obscured AGN at 20 kpc projected distance, which we dubbed Jil. It represents the tightest candidate system of an obscured and unobscured dual AGN at z > 3. To verify the dual AGN scenario, we obtained deep Ks band (rest-frame V band) imaging with the VLT/HAWK-I+GRAAL instrument at 0.″4 resolution during science verification in January 2018. We detect the individual host galaxies of the QSO and Jil with estimated stellar masses of log(M⋆/M⊙) = 11.4 ± 0.5 and log(M⋆/M⊙) = 0.9 ± 0.5, respectively. Near-IR spectra obtained with Very Large Telescope-K-band Multi Object Spectrograph (VLT-KMOS) reveal a clear [O III] λ5007 line detection at the location of Jil that does not contribute significantly to the Ks band flux. Both observations therefore corroborate the dual AGN scenario. A comparison to Illustris simulations suggests a parent halo mass of log(Mhalo/M⊙) = 13.2 ± 0.5 for this interacting galaxy system, corresponding to a massive dark matter halo at that epoch.

Sheli Tower in Jing chuan county is a steel frame system, whose connected construction between steel components and antiqued components is very complex. Considering the construction difficulties of Sheli Tower,this paper introduces how to fix the wooden brackets by using welding screw and steel sheet that connected with the columns and the method of packaging the steel eaves purlins into cornice with wooden antiqued components.These solutions ensure the union of force and architectural form, accurately comply with the architecture of Tang style.
