The heart is a biological pump that moves blood through a closed system of vessels, pumping about 6 litres of blood every minute. Age-related changes in the circulatory system in old age severely limit its adaptive capacity and create conditions for developing diseases. In old and old people, the number of active capillaries per unit area is significantly reduced. Tissues and organs cease to receive the nutrients and oxygen they need, leading to starvation and disease. Cardiovascular disease is the most common cause of death in humans.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) (such as occlusion of the coronary arteries, hypertensive heart diseases and strokes) are diseases that generate thousands of patients with a high mortality rate worldwide. Many of these cardiovascular pathologies, during their development, generate a state of oxidative stress that leads to a deterioration in the patient’s conditions associated with the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS). Within these reactive species we find superoxide anion (O2•–), hydroxyl radical (•OH), nitric oxide (NO•), as well as other species of non-free radicals such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), hypochlorous acid (HClO) and peroxynitrite (ONOO–). A molecule that actively participates in counteracting the oxidizing effect of reactive species is reduced glutathione (GSH), a tripeptide that is present in all tissues and that its synthesis and/or regeneration is very important to be able to respond to the increase in oxidizing agents. In this review, we will address the role of glutathione, its synthesis in both the heart and the liver, and its importance in preventing or reducing deleterious ROS effects in cardiovascular diseases.

The problem of preventive treatment of people displaying risk factors for cardiovascular diseases (RF CVD) is extremely important. At the same time, despite the proven high efficacy of prevention of CVD, the compliance is still low. In this regard, it is important to develop new approaches to control and improve the profile of RF CVD. The article presents the results of the application of innovative methods of medical and psychological counseling. This methodology combines the most important achievements of three major developing areas of work with the patient: 1) medical psychology (using the methods of motivational counseling, coping prevention, etc.); 2) therapy and cardiology; 3) the use of modern remote digital technologies. The results of the study show the effectiveness of the method of remote medical and psychological counseling to monitor and improve the profile of RF CVD.

This review will be restricted to measures aimed at primary prevention of cancer; reduction of the death rate through screening will not be covered. In many instances, cancer prevention is just one outcome of the benefits of good health practices, which may also benefit cardiovascular, lung, infectious, and metabolic diseases. Thus, reducing tobacco smoking will bring benefits in heart disease, neonatal and maternal health, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease as well as a variety of cancers, while dietary advice appropriate to cancer risk reduction will bring benefits in diabetes, stroke, kidney, and heart disease.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of human mortality worldwide. Oxidative stress and inflammation are pathophysiological processes involved in the development of CVD. That is why bioactive food ingredients, including lycopene, are so important in their prevention, which seems to be a compound increasingly promoted in the diet of people with cardiovascular problems. Lycopene present in tomatoes and tomato products is responsible not only for their red color but also for health-promoting properties. It is characterized by a high antioxidant potential, the highest among carotenoid pigments. Mainly for this reason, epidemiological studies show a number of favorable properties between the consumption of lycopene in the diet and a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease. While there is also some controversy in research into its protective effects on the cardiovascular system, growing evidence supports its beneficial role for the heart, endothelium, blood vessels, and health. The mechanisms of action of lycopene are now being discovered and may explain some of the contradictions observed in the literature. This review aims to present the current knowledge in recent years on the preventive role of lycopene cardiovascular disorders.

In recent years there is a positive trend in the development of preventive medicine, in particular, primary prevention of diseases. However, in most cases, patients seek help from a doctor after the manifestation of the disease, and therefore, early identification of risk factors (RF) remains relevant. Conduction of a large number of studies that are aimed at studying modifiable RF associated with the development of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), allowed the experts of the American Heart Association to develop recommendations “Life's Simple 7”, which makes it possible to structure methods of primary prevention of CVD and minimize the risk of their development. In 2019, experts from the American College of Cardiology presented a simplified version of these recommendations, to improve approaches to primary prevention and their effectiveness not only for doctors but also for patients. Thus, by involving the patient in the decision-making process about follow-up treatment, doctors can achieve a high level of compliance, which is essential for improving the prognosis. The “ABCDE” recommendations, in name of which are reflected the first letters of the leading CVD RF, include such paragraphs as RF assessment, the use of antiaggregating therapy, correction of blood pressure, cholesterol levels, smoking elimination, correction of high glucose levels and diabetes treatment, weight loss, assessment of social and economic factors affecting the morbidity in a particular patient. Despite the undoubted benefit of the “ABCDE” recommendations, some problems of primary prevention currently cannot be solved: the inability to accurately assess social and economic RF; the imperfection of the used CVD risk scales. The updated version of the recommendations allows not only to assess the existing RF of the patient, but also to effectively correct them. In addition, the patient himself can read the recommendations, which improves understanding of the primary prevention importance.

We aimed to determine whether the administration of statins to type 2 diabetics without pre-existing CHD reduced the incidence of CHD and their effects on cholesterol and CRP levels. All the participants were carefully interviewed, clinically examined, and laboratory tested to exclude conditions likely to provoke an inflammatory response that was an exclusion criterion. Exclusion criteria: Serious heart, liver or kidney problems, history of renal transplant, recent history of drug or alcohol abuse, HbA1c>10%, blood pressure >140/90mmHg, BMI >35 kg/m2, triglycerides >3,0mmol/dm3. 95 obese diabetics (mean age 60,9 years and BMI=31,59 kg/m2, diabetes duration more than 10 years) without pre-existing CHD, were included in the analysis and were randomized to simvastatin (25 female and 20 male used 40 mg simvastatin daily) or placebo (30 female and 20 male) group. After six months, simvastatin significantly lowered CRP levels by 19%, (p<0,01), cholesterol levels by 18%, TG levels by 8%, LDL levels by 20% and VLDL levels by 17%, whereas there was no change with placebo. After one year the difference sustained between groups. Coronary events were rarely in the simvastatin group (6,6%) than in the placebo group (14%). Coronary revascularizations were 4 in the placebo group and 1 in the simvastatin group. Rate of stroke was more often in the placebo group (18%) than in the simvastatin group (8,8%). So, reduction of acute CHD events is for 7,4% in the simvastatin group. Positive correlation was between CRP and CVD (r=0,29). Statin therapy reduced the risk of coronary hearth disease in diabetics without CHD.

Objective of the Review: Help the doctor in a conversation with the patient to additionally motivate him to follow the recommendations for secondary prevention in the period after myocardial revascularization. Key points. The article discusses the main risk factors that contribute to the progression of cardiovascular diseases (overweight and obesity, smoking, physical inactivity, depression and anxiety, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension), as well as various methods of secondary prevention after myocardial revascularization, based on modern data of evidence-based medicine: weight loss, regular physical training, psychopharmacotherapy, high adherence to drug therapy. Conclusion. Conducting secondary prevention measures is extremely important for patients after myocardial revascularization, since the progression of coronary artery atherosclerosis continues after surgery. Therefore, in the postoperative period, the likelihood of developing cardiovascular events, in particular, early periprocedural myocardial infarction, stent thrombosis, and late restenosis, remains. Optimal drug and non-drug preventive measures improve the quality of life and improve the prognosis in this category of patients. Keywords: ischemic heart disease, cardiovascular disease, secondary prevention, myocardial revascularization, healthy lifestyle.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are responsible for more deaths than any other cause, with coronary heart disease and stroke accounting for two-thirds of those deaths. Morbidity and mortality due to CVD are largely preventable, through either primary prevention of disease or secondary prevention of cardiac events. Monitoring cardiac status in healthy and diseased cardiovascular systems has the potential to dramatically reduce cardiac illness and injury. Smart technology in concert with mobile health platforms is creating an environment where timely prevention of and response to cardiac events are becoming a reality.

Cardiovascular disease are among the principal causes of disability and death in older persons and therefore preventive interventions for such diseases are a high priority.Secondary prevention trials have established the efficacy of low dose aspirin for the prevention of cardiovascular disease (fatal , non-fatal myocardial infarction fatal or non-fatal stroke , or hospitalisation for heart failure). The benefits of low dose ASPRIN outweigh the risk of majorhaemorrhage (hemorrhagic stroke, symptomatic intracranial bleeding are clinically significant extra-cranial bleeding) associated with it in the secondary prevention of cardiovascular events. However, the role of low dose aspirin in primary prevention in elderly healthy individuals is unclear. JMS 2018;21(1):68-69

Sal (Shorea robusta) is one of the most indispensable species in Nepal, both ecologically and economically. This paper aims to provide updated guidance for the management and protection of this species in the future from various pests and pathogens. We reviewed 38 articles from Google Scholar and Research gate with keywords "Shorea robusta”, “Hoplocerambyx spinicornis”, “Polyporus shoreae”, “Heart rot”. S. robusta has the most insect fauna among the forest tree species. Out of the 346 insects reported on S. robusta, around 155 species of insects are associated with living trees. Hoplocerambyx spinicornis is the most destructive insect pest, wreaking havoc on S. robusta. Polyporous shoreae is the main cause of root rot in S. robusta, and spreads through root contact or root grafting. Heart rot in S. robusta is caused by the fungi Hymenochaete rubiginosa, Fomes caryophylli, and F. fastuosus. During the harvesting of S. robusta, the majority of the tree was observed to be faulty, resulting in a large amount of waste wood. The best way to determine the pathogen's "Achilles' heel" is to consider its life cycle. The Nepalese famous saying "prevention is better than cure" may be applicable in the management of S. robusta insect pests and pathogens. The current paper critically addresses these issues and argues the need for an improvised package of activities for insect pests, pathogens, prevention, and their control.

Background & Objective: Non-communicable diseases, particularly diabetes, hypertension and ischemic heart diseases have created an epidemic situation worldwide. Bangladesh is also in the grip of the menace. The only way to get rid of the menace is prevention of these diseases which demands awareness against the diseases. This study was undertaken to assess the level of knowledge of adult people of Puthia Upazila regarding prevention of the seclected non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Methods: The study was carried out in the Department of Community Medicine Rajshahi Medical College, Rajshahi over a period of 2 months from April 2018 to May 2018. All adult people (18 years onwards) residing in the rural area of Puthia Upazila were the respondents (study population) in this study. The survey invited the adult individuals to participate in the study. A total of 1001 individuals voluntarily responded to participate in the study. Of them 648(64.7%) were free from the NCDs and were interviewed to assess their level of knowledge on prevention of selected NCDs. A self-administered questionnaire containing the variables of interest for evaluating knowledge was used. Result: Two-thirds (68.2%) of the respondents were 30–50 years old with mean age of the respondents being 44.3(range: 25-90) years. Males outnumbered females by 11:9. Over half (54%) informed that they had little knowledge and 10.7% were familiar with the NCDs. Around half held the view that diabetes, hypertension, ischemic heart diseases and stroke were NCDs/chronic diseases. Approximately 70% told that the NCDs were on a rising trend. Regarding causes of chronic diseases, the respondents told excess intake of fat and sedentary life-style (67.9%), intake of excess CHO (54.2%), indulgence in smoking (68.2%), less intake of vegetables and fruits (57.4%), excess or additional salt intake (50.5%) and family history of NCD (44.1%). Regarding prevention of NCDs, around 70% were in favor of adopting healthy dietary behaviour and avoiding too much fatty food, followed by regular exercise (71.2%), avoiding or giving up smoking (70.8%) and avoiding or giving up taking extra salt (57.9%). Conclusion: The study concluded that the people of Puthia Upazilla are aware more or less about the selected NCDs (diabetes, hypertension, ischemic heart diseases and stroke). They are also aware that these diseases are increasing. Around two-thirds of the people are aware about the risk factors of these non-communicable diseases and the ways to prevent them. Background and aims: The conservational effects of dietary interventions as advantageous instruments in the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD) have gotten more attention in recent years. Numerous nutritional epidemiological studies have highlighted the ability of diets to decrease costly care and treatments as well as adverse side effects from standard treatments. Lycopene is a non-pro-vitamin A carotenoid that is present in tomatoes, processed tomato products, and different fruits like watermelon, autumn olive, gac, pink grapefruit, pink guava, papaya, sea buckthorn, and wolfberry. As one of the most powerful antioxidants among dietary tetraterpenoids, lycopene can also assist in lowering the risk of early death and extending life in patients with heart disease. By reducing the destructive effects of free radicals along with total and “bad” LDL cholesterol levels while increasing “good” HDL cholesterol, lycopene holds the power to reduce the risk factors of heart disease. Several studies have investigated a reduction of oxidized-LDL (oxLDL) cholesterol levels following lycopene consumption which supports these claims and suggests the conceivable function of lycopene in the blockage of oxidative stress-associated CVD. A negative correlation between serum lycopene concentration and mortality of people with metabolic syndrome was found. Over 10 years, researchers observed a 39% decreased chance of premature death in individuals with the metabolic disease who had the highest blood concentrations of lycopene. Lycopene’s protective impacts are especially beneficial in those with low blood antioxidant levels or high levels of oxidative stress. This includes older adults, smokers, and diabetic individuals or other vascular disorders. Lycopene intake has been thought to reduce the risk of obesity, insulin resistance, and diabetes mellitus.Lycopene acts as an antihypertensive agent by impeding the angiotensin-converting enzyme and improving the production of nitric oxide (NO) in the endothelium. The purpose of this review is to summarize the possible mechanisms of lycopene in the prevention of CVD. Keywords: Lycopene, Risk factors of heart disease, Antioxidants, Carotenoids, Cardio-metabolic, Insulin resistance

Nitric oxide (NO) is a powerful mediator with biological activities such as vasodilation and prevention of vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation as well as functional regulation of cardiac cells. Thus, impaired production or reduced bioavailability of NO predisposes to the onset of different cardiovascular (CV) diseases. Alterations in the redox balance associated with excitation–contraction coupling have been identified in heart failure (HF), thus contributing to contractile abnormalities and arrhythmias. For its ability to influence cell proliferation and angiogenesis, NO may be considered a therapeutic option for the management of several CV diseases. Several clinical studies and trials investigated therapeutic NO strategies for systemic hypertension, atherosclerosis, and/or prevention of in stent restenosis, coronary heart disease (CHD), pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), and HF, although with mixed results in long-term treatment and effective dose administered in selected groups of patients. Tadalafil, sildenafil, and cinaguat were evaluated for the treatment of PAH, whereas vericiguat was investigated in the treatment of HF patients with reduced ejection fraction. Furthermore, supplementation with hydrogen sulfide, tetrahydrobiopterin, and nitrite/nitrate has shown beneficial effects at the vascular level.

Polyphenols have an important protective role against a number of diseases, such as atherosclerosis, brain dysfunction, stroke, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death worldwide: more people die annually from cardiovascular diseases than from any other cause. The most important behavioural risk factors of heart disease and stroke are unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, tobacco use, and excess alcohol intake. The dietary consumption of polyphenols has shown to be inversely associated with morbidity and mortality by cardio- and cerebrovascular diseases. It is well-known that the protective effects of polyphenolsin vivodepend on the grade how they are extracted from food and on their intestinal absorption, metabolism, and biological action with target tissues. The aim of this review was to summarise the relation between polyphenols of different plant sources and stroke in human intervention studies, animal models, and in vitro studies.

The problem of iodine deficiency remains relevant all over the world due to the widespread prevalence and the negative impact it has on human health in all agegroups. Iodine deficiency leads to a decrease in the intellectual potential of children, the development of reproductive disorders at a young age, as well as the formation of multinodular toxic goiter as the last stage of goiter transformation, accompanied by heart rhythm disturbances in middle and old age. The article covers the issues of monitoring iodine deficiency in the regions of Russia and provides data on the situation in the world on the development of future prevention programs and current prevention programs. A detailed analysis of each criterion for the severity of iodine deficiency and the effectiveness of preventive programs was carried out. Particular attention is paid to the criterion of neonatal hyperthyrotropinemia as a promising indicator for monitoring iodine deficiency.

Current, the programs of mass prevention of the cardiovascular diseases, based on preventive medicinal correction of risk factors of cardiovascular diseases, such as hyperlipidemia, arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, are developed and realized. Pulmonary tuberculosis influences on state of blood system, which can be considered as functional disorders of the cardiovascular system caused by tuberculosis. These violations caused by concomitant tuberculosis lung diseases, such as cardiovascular and other diseases of the respiratory system. Specific (tuberculosis) damages of the heart and blood vessels are rare and currently their influence on pathomorphosis of tuberculosis isn’t expressed. Modern schemes of treatment of coronary heart disease and hypertension are also applicable to patients with Pulmonary tuberculosis. Effective treatment of coronary heart disease and hypertension in patients with tuberculosis by means of the drugs, allows to normalize the function of the cardiovascular system and to carry out long-chemotherapy by anti-TB drugs and cures of tuberculosis. The study showed the ability to predict the degree of lipid-lowering effect in patients with coronary heart disease in combination with infiltrative tuberculosis of the lungs that can provide the right choice of drug in lipid-lowering therapy.

Background. Chronic noncommunicable diseases remain actual for a long time due to their impact on life expectancy and health of the world's population. Heart diseases as representatives of chronic non-infectious diseases are extremely actual. They remain the leading cause of disability and premature death for humankind. The purpose of the study: to analyze the incidence and mortality of the population from heart diseases in certain developed countries of the world, European countries, in particular in Ukraine, the risk factors that cause them, and to determine possible directions of preventive and rehabilitation strategies to improve the epidemic situation in Ukraine. Materials and methods. Data from meta-analyzes and systematic reviews from academic databases; data from state and health care statistics; methods: bibliosemantic, comparative, medical and statistical analysis, generalization. Results. It was found that the number of years lived by mankind with disabilities increased by 4.5 % over 10 years due to heart diseases. It is shown that the level of morbidity and mortality is significantly higher in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, in particular, in Ukraine, in comparison with Sweden, Great Britain, Canada, the USA and Western European countries. It was revealed that the highest levels of mortality caused by risk factors for the population of all these countries and regions are associated with High Blood Pressure, nutrition, High Blood Cholesterol, however, in terms of values, they significantly prevail in the countries of Eastern Europe, in particular, in Ukraine, with an increase over 2009 – 2019 due to High Blood Pressure – from 494.88 to 536.51 per 100 thousand people, nutrition – from 397.29 to 430.66 per 100 thousand people, High Blood Cholesterol – from 345.98 to 373.13 per 100 thousand people. The population and personal strategies for the prevention of heart diseases and rehabilitation of patients depending on the clinical condition in Ukraine have been substantiated. Conclusions. The impact of heart diseases on the population health is constantly increasing. It confirms the permanence of the problem and requires constant attention and effective measures from the governments of countries and health systems.

Introduction. New advances in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), as practice shows, are not able to significantly improve the statistical indicators of morbidity and mortality of CVD. This fact indicates that there are additional factors and mechanisms that are important to consider, both for prevention and for the most optimal management of patients. Recently, the relationship between environmental and lifestyle factors with CVD has been actively studied. However, despite understanding the relationship between environmental factors and various diseases, including CVD, the mechanisms by which specific factors increase or decrease the risk of developing CVD are not yet fully understood, and a number of studies are contradictory. The aim of our work was to generalize existing data on the impact of such critical environmental factors as air pollution and solar insolation on the cardiovascular system, as well as to comprehensively discuss the mechanisms by which these environmental factors can participate in the development and progression of CVD. To achieve our work’s goal, we analyzed modern foreign literature using the PubMed database. Conclusion. According to numerous experimental and clinical studies, air pollution and solar insolation deficiency play an essential role in developing CVD and the aggravation of patients with various CVD (atherosclerosis, hypertension, coronary heart disease, heart failure, myocardial infarction, and stroke). Thus, air pollution and lack of solar insolation can be considered as critical risk factors for CVD. Future research should focus on the study and establishment of specific pathogenetic mechanisms by which environmental factors affect the cardiovascular system’s health to develop effective treatment and prevention measures.

There have been tremendous advances in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease over the last 50 years. Nevertheless, it remains the number one cause of death. About half of heart-related deaths occur suddenly, and in about half of these cases the person was unaware that they had underlying heart disease. Genetic heart disease accounts for only approximately 2% of sudden cardiac deaths, but as it typically occurs in younger people it has been a particular focus of activity in our quest to not only understand the underlying mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmogenesis but also develop better strategies for earlier detection and prevention. In this brief review, we will highlight trends in the recent literature focused on sudden cardiac death in genetic heart diseases and how these studies are contributing to a broader understanding of sudden death in the community.

The sedentary way of life collects victims mostly through the disorders of the cardiovascular system; the most frequent causes are the ischemic heart disease and the stroke. The training-induced characteristics of the athlete’s heart have well defined roles in the better exercise performance at the young age, and in the prevention of the heart diseases in the older age. The left ventricular hypertrophy in the young age results in a better endurance performance, in the older age, however, regular physical activity protects against pathological hypertrophy. The improved coronary circulation is mainly a consequence of the regular physical activity in the younger age, results in a less frequent incidence of ischemic heart diseases, and the milder consequences of myocardial infarctions. The better diastolic function, improved distensibility helps a more economic function of the heart both in the young and in the older age. The most important manifestation of the modified autonomous regulation is the lower heart rate at rest and during physical load, resulting in a more economic cardiac function and better coronary circulation. Several mechanisms are involved in the prevention of the stroke; a leading role is the prevention of the high blood pressure. Regular physical exercise decreases blood pressure by 3-4 mmHg in normotensive subjects and by cca. 10 mmHg in hypertensive patients. The training of the heart is the endurance training, minimum 20 min monotone, cyclic movement.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading causes of death worldwide, and defects in mitochondrial function contribute largely to the occurrence of CVDs. Recent studies suggest that sirtuin 3 (SIRT3), the mitochondrial NAD+-dependent deacetylase, may regulate mitochondrial function and biosynthetic pathways such as glucose and fatty acid metabolism and the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, oxidative stress, and apoptosis by reversible protein lysine deacetylation. SIRT3 regulates glucose and lipid metabolism and maintains myocardial ATP levels, which protects the heart from metabolic disturbances. SIRT3 can also protect cardiomyocytes from oxidative stress-mediated cell damage and block the development of cardiac hypertrophy. Recent reports show that SIRT3 is involved in the protection of several heart diseases. This review discusses the progress in SIRT3-related research and the role of SIRT3 in the prevention and treatment of CVDs.

This machine learning model predicts whether a person can have a heart disease or not based on the information or the symptom the person enters into the system. Here we are using the machine learning algorithms like the Decision Tree, Random Forest, KNN algorithms for precise prediction of the result. Cardiovascular diseases are major health complications currently in various societies. Management of heart diseases as a prevention step or as treatment with low-cost procedures like lifestyle modifications including nutrition are important current trends. Although the term nutrition dates back to 2 past centuries, Persian physicians contributed to this term at least from 1000 years ago. Rhazes (865-925 AD) was one of the pioneers in this field. He preferred using foods in treating illnesses. “Foods and drinks” were 1 subject from 6 principles ( Setteh Zarorieh) that Persian physicians believed can affect human health. In this review, we described some medieval Persian views on the role of nutrition in heart diseases and compare their prescriptions with current findings. Interestingly, current investigations mostly support Persian medicine principles. Historically, this work shows that the concept of nutrition in heart diseases has had a successful background at least from 1000 years ago in Persia.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) refers to a class of diseases related to the heart or blood vessels that have high global incidence. Succinate is generally considered an important intermediate product of the tricarboxylic acid cycle. Recent studies have shown that succinate is related to the pathophysiology of CVD, such as atherosclerosis, acute aortic dissection, hypertension, myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury, and heart failure. It may represent a potential target or biomarker for CVD. It has been demonstrated that succinate not only participates in various energy metabolic pathways but also plays an important role in various pathophysiological activities as a signaling molecule. Given the significance of metabolism in CVD, it is important to focus on the metabolic regulation mechanism of succinate in CVD. This review outlines the latest evidence pointing to the potential role of succinate in CVD, along with its mechanisms, and updates the current understanding on the role of succinate in CVD. Further studies may focus on identifying succinate, its receptor, and its downstream signaling molecules as new targets for the prevention and treatment of CVD.

Noncommunicable diseases [NCDs] are a major disease burden in the Region. Many of the risk factors are related to lifestyle and can be controlled. Physical inactivity, low fruit and vegetable intake, high fast food consumption and high cholesterol are predominant causes of cardiovascular disease and some cancers. Overweight and obesity can lead to metabolic changes and raise the risk of NCDs, including heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Three main strategies are proposed to deal with the problem:estimate need and advocate for action; develop national policies, strategies and plans for prevention and care; promote and implement community participation in prevention and care. NCDs are preventable using available knowledge; solutions are effective and highly cost-effective

There is a clinically staggering burden of disease stemming from cerebrovascular events, of which a majority are ischemic in nature and many are precipitated by atrial fibrillation (AF). AF can occur in isolation or in association with myocardial or structural heart disease. In the latter case, and when considering health at an international level, congenital and acquired valve-related diseases are frequent contributors to the current pandemic of AF and its clinical impact. Guidelines crafted by the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology and Heart Rhythm Society underscore the use of vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) among patients with valvular heart disease, particularly in the presence of concomitant AF, to reduce the risk of ischemic stroke of cardioembolic origin; however, the non-VKAs, also referred to as direct, target-specific or new oral anticoagulants (NOACs), have not been actively studied in this particular population. In fact, each of the new agents is approved in patients with AFnotcaused by a valve problem. The aim of our review is to carefully examine the available evidence from pivotal phase 3 clinical trials of NOACs and determine how they might perform in patients with AF and concomitant valvular heart disease.

Cardiovascular diseases is a group of disorders of the heart and blood vessels, including coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, rheumatic heart disease, peripheral artery disease, congenital heart disease, deep vein thrombosis, and pulmonary embolism. The most important behavioral risk factors for heart disease and stroke are poor diet, physical inactivity, smoking, and harmful alcohol use. The impact of behavioral risk factors may manifest in each individual as high blood pressure, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, overweight, and obesity. The purpose of this study was to give a thorough scientific analysis of yoga’s contribution to the management and prevention of cardiovascular diseases and related risk factors. The records are collected from several databases. We performed an extensive search of the PubMed/Medline electronic database. However, it is believed that the risk of cardiovascular disease can be reduced by adjusting for several risk factors, such as increasing physical activity and using relaxation to reduce stress, both of which are elements of yoga. As yoga has become an increasingly popular form of exercise, it could be an important intervention for primary and secondary cardiovascular disease prevention. Evidence suggests that regular exercise can reduce the risk of death from cardiovascular disease, and it is beneficial when included in primary and secondary prevention strategies. This review assessed the effectiveness of yoga in reducing various cardiovascular risk factors (blood pressure, weight, body mass index, lipid profile, blood sugar). There is promising evidence that the practice of yoga improves cardiovascular health. Yoga practice length has a beneficial relationship with reducing the risk of сardiovascular diseases. Numerous studies used limited sample numbers, varied the forms and lengths of their yoga treatments, and omitted information on the processes behind change. The prevention and management of cardiovascular illnesses and associated risk factors, however, might be greatly aided by yoga. To even further understand the numerous possible mechanisms behind yoga’s effects, more research is necessary.

Angiotensin receptor blockers represent a relevant group of cardiovascular drugs. The results of clinical trials of a generic Valsartan (Valsakor) are reviewed in the paper. Valsartan combines high antihypertensive and organoprotective effects with the low risk of signiicant drug interactions. Due to the favorable metabolic proile valsartan is the drug of choice in hypertension, metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes mellitus, and the long-term therapy is associated with the reduction of the risk of new-onset diabetes. Valsartan is effective in primary and secondary prevention of atrial ibrillation, congestive heart failure and chronic renal failure.
