In diesem Aufsatz wird die Figur des Gottes Tarhuntaš auf dem zwei figurigen Felsrelief von İvriz untersucht, und vor allem wird versucht das Attribut des Gottes zu deuten.Dem Felsrelief des “Quellheiligtums’ von İvriz (Abb 1) wurden seit seiner Entdeckung im 17. Jh. bereits zahlreiche, verschiedenartige Untersuchungen gewidmet. Die Attribute des dort dargestellten Gottes Tarhuntaš, die wichtige Hinweise zur Bestimmung der Funktion ihres Trägers liefern könnten, blieben davon jedoch lange Zeit unberührt. Ihre Erforschung wurde sehr spät durch R D Barnett eingeleitet, der ihnen erstmalig Beachtung schenkte: Sein Interesse galt vorrangig dem spiralförmig gerillten Gegenstand, der unter dem linken Ellbogen des Gottes zum Vorschein kommt (Abb 2). Barnett zufolge gehörte er zum ‘Knauf eines Schwertes, der in Form eines Adler- oder Vogelkopfes gestaltet ist’. Als erste Untersuchung zu diesem Thema überhaupt war diese Arbeit Barnetts auch für spätere Forschungen von grundlegender Bedeutung.

Konya'nın Halkapınar ilçesi sınırlarındaki Ambarderesi Vadisinin yamacında İvriz'deki kral Warpalawas'ın anıtsal kaya kabartmasının yakın bir benzeri bulunmaktadır. Bunun karşı yamacında ise yerel halk tarafından Kızlar Oğlanlar Sarayı olarak adlandırılan Orta Bizans Dönemine ait manastırın kalıntıları konumlanmıştır. Girişi kilisenin apsisinin yaklaşık 50 m kuzeyinde bulunan doğal mağara Konya Ereğli Yüzey Araştırma Projesi (KEYAR) çerçevesinde 2016 yılı yüzey araştırması sezonunda ilk defa incelenmiş ve belgelenmiştir. Bu makalede, 2014-2016 arazi çalışmalarında Halkapınar ilçesinde yapılan sistematik yüzey araştırmaları sonuçları ve bölgenin Tunç - Demir Çağı yerleşimleri tartışılmaktadır. Yüzey araştırması kapsamında İvriz'de, Ambarderesi'nde ve mağarada gerçekleştirilen yüzey araştırmalarından elde edilen bulgular sunularak, mağaranın ve girişinde bulunan libasyon çukurunun önemi Geç Hitit Dönemi kültsel arınma ve temizlenme ritüelleri ile ilişkisi tartışılacaktır.

Анотація:
A new species of freshwater Amphipod, Gammarus topkarai sp. nov., collected from Ivriz Creek, Tarsus Province, South Anatolia, is described and illustrated. The new species belongs to Gammarus pulex-group and shows similar characteristic features with Gammarus agrarius G. S. Karaman, 1973. Absence of well developed dorsal elevations on the urosome segments, smaller body length and relatively lower endopod/exopod ratio of third uropod are the most obvious features differ from G. agrarius. A detailed morphological description and illustrations of new species are given and differences from related species are discussed. An updated identification key of Gammarus taxa reported from Turkey, up to date, was also presented.

Анотація:
Various experimental methods (XRD, FTIR, SAXS, DLS and SEM) were used to investigate structures of the silk samples weaved by spiders in Turkey. Silk samples were collected from the natural habitats belonging to the spider species (i.e., Near Salt Lake/şereflikoçhisar, İvriz Dam/Ereǧli-Konya, Karataş Lake/Burdur and several locations in Black Sea Region of Turkey). Among all collected species, Araneidae(Araneus angulatus, Argiope bruennichi, Argiope lobata, Larinoides cornutus), Eresidae(Eresus cinnaberinus), Agelenidae(Agelena labyrinthica), Oecobidae(Uroctea durandi), Miturgidae(Cheiracanthium erraticum), Salticidae(Heliophanus flavipes, Philaeus chrysops), Theridiidae(Steatoda paykulliana)and Gnaphosidae were found significant amongst other spider species. Structural differences and similarities of these species were reported. Diameter range of draglines, inter crystallite distance of nano-size structures, mean size range of nano-structure aggregations, crystallite size range, information about protein content were obtained. The mechanical properties of some silk fibers were also investigated.

RESUMOEste artigo utiliza o método hermenêutico visando traduzir e interpretar o sentido correto do status jurídico dos animais na tradição do Direito Romano a partir das Institutiones do Corpus Iuris Ciuilis. Dessa forma, o artigo questiona a tradicional e reducionista visão de a tradição do Direito Romano sempre considera os animais como coisa. Inicialmente, o artigo faz um breve resumo histórico do Direito Romano à época da criação da obra justinianeia. Em seguida, promove uma tradução de trechos das Institutas que fazem referência aos animais diretamente de uma versão em Latim do romanista alemão Paulus Krueger, momento em que são explicitados traços que indicam que os animais gozavam de um status jurídico singular nas Institutiones. Por fim, constata que existe uma diferença de tratamento entre os animais naquele documento, em decorrência da própria animalidade e da vontade dos animais, que são classificados segundo diferentes critérios, tais como natureza e hábito, que ensejam diferentes categorias, uma vez que os animais possuem direitos derivados do ius naturale. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Institutas; Justiniano; Animais; Res; Coisa. ABSTRACTIt is studied the animal’s legal status in the Corpus Iuris Ciulis Institutiones. Therefore, it is questioned the traditional and reductionist way of thinking that identifies those being simply as things, evidencing clues to sui generis character, through a rereading of the Institutes. To such end, the required Roman Law's history to understand Justinian's work is retrieved. Then, a translation proposition for Institutes' parts which have any animal reference is presented, at which point are shown plentiful of signs that point to a singular law condition. It is realized, upon that, a difference in treatment based on animals' own animality and will, distinguished and classified according to different standards, such as nature and habits, like the categories of domestic, wild, domesticated, and non-domesticated animals. Therefore, clues that disclose acknowledgment of animals' sentience and that these beings truly had right derived from ius naturale are revealed.KEYWORDS: Institutes; Justinian; Animals; Res; Thing.

Conclusions regarding the relative importance of different independent variables in a statistical model have meaningful implications for theory and practice. However, methods for determining relative importance have yet to extend beyond statistical models with a single dependent variable and a limited set of multivariate models. To accommodate multivariate models, the current work proposes shifting away from the concept of independent variable relative importance toward that of parameter estimate relative importance (PERI). This paper illustrates the PERI approach by comparing it to the evaluation of regression slopes and independent variable relative importance (IVRI) statistics to show the interpretive and methodological advantages of the new concept and associated methods. PERI’s advantages above standardized slopes stem from the same fit metric that is used to compute PERI statistics; this makes them more comparable to one another than standardized slopes. PERI’s advantages over IVRI stem from situations where independent variables do not predict all dependent variables; hence, PERI permits importance determination in situations where independent variables are nested in dependent variables they predict. We also provide recommendations for implementing PERI using dominance analysis with statistical models that can be estimated with maximum likelihood estimation combined with a series of model constraints using two examples.

Minerals play very important role in physiology and metabolism of all living organisms. Plasma macro and micro minerals profile of 226 dogs reported to Referral Veterinary Polyclinic (RVP), IVRI, Izatnagar, belonging to different age and being provided with vegetarian homemade diet by their owners was assessed for estimation of macro (Ca, P, Mg, Na, K) and microminerals (Cu , Fe, Zn, Se and Co), and their status analysis. Selected dogs were further subdivided into six (0 - 1 yr, 1 - 2 yr, 2 - 3 yr, 3 - 4 yr, 4 - 5 yr and >5 yr) different age groups. Present study revealed deficiency of plasma macro (Ca, P and Mg) and micro minerals (Cu , Fe, Zn, Se) in the surveyed dogs.

The control of cattle tick, Rhipicephalus microplus, is focused on repeated use of acaricides. However, due to growing acaricide resistance and residues problem, immunization of animals along with limited use of effective acaricides is considered a suitable option for the control of tick infestations. To date, more than fifty vaccine candidates have been identified and tested worldwide, but two vaccines were developed using the extensively studied candidate, Bm86. The main reason for limited vaccine commercialization in other countries is genetic diversity in the Bm86 gene leading to considerable variation in vaccine efficacy. India, with 193.46 million cattle population distributed in 28 states and 9 union territories, is suffering from multiple tick infestation dominated by R. microplus. As R. microplus has developed multi-acaricide resistance, an efficacious vaccine may provide a sustainable intervention for tick control. Preliminary experiments revealed that the presently available commercial vaccine based on the BM86 gene is not efficacious against Indian strain. In concert with the principle of reverse vaccinology, genetic polymorphism of the Bm86 gene within Indian isolates of R. microplus was studied. A 578 bp conserved nucleotide sequences of Bm86 from 65 R. microplus isolates collected from 9 Indian states was sequenced and revealed 95.6–99.8% and 93.2–99.5% identity in nucleotides and amino acids sequences, respectively. The identities of nucleotides and deduced amino acids were 94.7–99.8% and 91.8–99.5%, respectively, between full-length sequence (orf) of the Bm86 gene of IVRI-I strain and published sequences of vaccine strains. Six nucleotides deletion were observed in Indian Bm86 sequences. Four B-cell epitopes (D519-K554, H563-Q587, C598-T606, T609-K623), which are present in the conserved region of the IVRI-I Bm86 sequence, were selected. The results confirm that the use of available commercial Bm86 vaccines is not a suitable option against Indian isolates of R. microplus. A country-specific multi-epitope Bm86 vaccine consisting of four specific B-cell epitopes along with candidate molecules, subolesin and tropomyosin in chimeric/co-immunization format may provide a sustainable option for implementation in an integrated tick management system.

We study a class of third-order hyperbolic operators P in G = {(t, x): 0 ≤ t ≤ T, x ∈ U ⋐ ℝn} with triple characteristics at ρ = (0, x0, ξ), ξ ∈ ℝn ∖{0}. We consider the case when the fundamental matrix of the principal symbol of P at ρ has a couple of non-vanishing real eigenvalues. Such operators are called effectively hyperbolic. Ivrii introduced the conjecture that every effectively hyperbolic operator is strongly hyperbolic, that is the Cauchy problem for P + Q is locally well posed for any lower order terms Q. This conjecture has been solved for operators having at most double characteristics and for operators with triple characteristics in the case when the principal symbol admits a factorization. A strongly hyperbolic operator in G could have triple characteristics in G only for t = 0 or for t = T. We prove that the operators in our class are strongly hyperbolic if T is small enough. Our proof is based on energy estimates with a loss of regularity.

Encyclopedias are important reference works. They are meant to summarize the state of knowledge in any given field and convey it to both the layperson and the scholar in a clear, concise manner. For Jews and Judaism, the first major effort in this regard was the Jewish Encyclopedia of 1906, which drew upon the knowledge of a cadre of European and American scholars of the Science of Judaism (Wissenschaft des Judentums). Its successor the German Encyclopaedia Judaica began to appear in 1929 but was interrupted in 1934 by the rise of Nazism. It had only reached the end of the letter L. After the war, efforts resumed which resulted in the production of two major encyclopedias, The Hebrew Encyclopaedia Hebraica (ha-Entsiklopedyah ha-‘Ivrit), completed in 1982, and the English Encyclopaedia Judaica (henceforth EJ1), which first appeared in 1971 followed by a corrected edition in 1972. Both works were published in Israel and are considered to be major achievements. The latter used a lot of material from both its German and Hebrew predecessors.

Abstract Background A cross-sectional survey was performed to estimate the prevalence of periportal fibrosis in children based on ultrasound examination in the Marolambo district of the Atsinanana region of Madagascar. This is a remote area known to have a high prevalence of intestinal schistosomiasis. Methods School-aged children (5–14 y) were selected from six villages for parasitological and sonographic examination. Circulating cathodic antigen (CCA) tests and Kato Katz (KK) stool microscopy were performed. Video-clips of liver views were recorded with a SonoSite iViz and interpreted in the UK by comparison with standardised images (WHO protocol). Results The prevalence of schistosomiasis according to CCA testing was 97.8% (269/275) and 73.8% (203/275) by KK. Sonographic evidence of periportal fibrosis was observed in 11.3% (31/275). The youngest children with fibrosis were aged 6 y. Fibrosis was more common in older children (p=0.03) but was not associated with either infection intensity category (p=0.07) or gender (p=0.67). Conclusions Findings of periportal fibrosis among children in these hard-to-reach villages suggests chronic Schistosoma mansoni infection from a very young age. This may reflect other similarly remote schistosomiasis-endemic areas and reinforces the need to investigate morbidity in neglected communities to understand the true extent of disease burden in endemic countries.

In the present study recombinant LigB protein is employed in latex agglutination test, which is a cross reacting lipoprotein able to detect acute infection caused by any pathogenic leptospiral serovars. It was employed for serodiagnosis of leptospirosis. The 46KDa 6X His tagged LigB protein, obtained by IPTG induction of recombinant E. coli M15 cells containing the N-terminal region of LigB gee in PQE30 expression vector, was purified by Ni-NTA affinity chromatography and adsorbed on latex bead surface for performing latex agglutination test against Leptospirosis suspected field sea. Western blot confirmed that rLigB is an immunodominant protein against which antibodies are produced during active infection. A total of 453 field sera, including 432 bovine sera, 18 caprine sera and three sera samples of buffalo bull collected post-mortem following death the animal from Indian Veterinary Research institute (IVRI) were tested using rLigB based LAT. The result showed that 300 sera were tested positive by rLigB based LAT, which were reconfirmed using microscopic agglutination test (MAT). The results from LAT were in concordance with MAT. In conclusion, under laboratory and field conditions, rLigB based LAT is a rapid, pen site, reliable diagnostic tool of high sensitivity and specificity for the detection of Leptospirosis. Int. J. ABSTRACT Introduction Point of care ultrasound (POCUS) is increasingly used in primary care in the USA and has been shown to provide significant benefit to care in deployed military settings and during disaster relief efforts. It is less studied as a tool during humanitarian assistance missions. We sought to determine the utility of POCUS in a humanitarian assistance setting during the February 2019 joint U.S.–Brazilian hospital assistance mission aboard the Hospitalar Assistance Ship Carlos Chagas along the Madeira River in the Brazilian Amazon. Materials and Methods Point of care ultrasound was offered as a diagnostic modality to primary care physicians during the course of a month-long mission. A handheld IVIZ ultrasound machine was loaned for use during this mission by Sonosite. A P21v phased array (5-1 MHz) or an L38v linear (10-5 MHz) transducer was used for scanning. Requests for POCUS examinations, their findings, and changes in patient management were recorded. Results Point of care ultrasound examinations were requested and performed in 24 of 814 (3%) outpatient primary care visits. Ten of these studies (42% of POCUS examinations, 1.2% of all patient visits) directed patient management decisions, in each case preventing unnecessary referral. Conclusions In this austere setting, POCUS proved to be an inexpensive, effective tool at preventing unnecessary referrals. Future medical humanitarian assistance missions may likewise find POCUS to be a primary care force-multiplier.

He opened with the following comments: Before beginning my lecture, I would like to correct an error in its title, and I would ask that the correction also be published in the press. The subject I chose to lecture on was “Knowledge and Will in Contract and Property in Mishpat ha-Torah.” The words “In comparison with English law” were added subsequently, without my knowledge. In my introduction to the second volume of my English work on Mishpat ha-Torah, I have already condemned a conspicuous proclivity in large portions of the modern literature on Mishpat ‘Ivri, to invariably search for comparisons and analogies from external sources. In essence, from an internal, spiritual perspective, such a comparison—God forbid—is inconceivable, for as the heavens are higher than the earth, so the Divine Torah granted from heaven is higher than any kind of jurisprudential system produced by human intellect and spirit. At the most, it is useful for explanatory purposes, enlisting human intellect to invoke external concepts in explaining certain concepts of Mishpat ha-Torah for those who are not conversant with classical Jewish sources, but are familiar with other legal systems. Therefore, my lecture is not devoted to comparison but rather to explanation, in other words explaining with the assistance of concepts and definitions taken from English law.

Aim: To investigate patho-dyanamics of Erwinia tracheiphila on Cucurbita pepo with biochemical, molecular characterization and eco-friendly management approaches. Methodology: Variability study of Erwinia tracheiphila was done by collecting the isolates from different places in Odisha. Disease severity was calculated and analyzed from 2016-18 to predict trend of emergence and disease progress. Molecular detection of pathogen was done through 16S rRNA sequencing. Biochemical characterization and identification of pathogenic nature of Erwinia tracheiphila was performed through Ortho-Nitrophenyl β-Galactoside, Esculin hydrolysis, Citrate and Malonate utilization in the presence of different carbohydrate molecules. Efficacy of eight different plant oils were tested by in-vitro inhibition zone (IVIZ) assay against Erwinia tracheiphila as eco-friendly management approaches. Results: Analysis of disease severity data from 2016-18 ranged between 29% to 33%. Molecular detection of causal pathogen was further confirmed by 16S rRNA region sequencing with 99% identity of NCBI-GenBank published Erwinia tracheiphila (MK356446 and MK356441) database and phylogenetic analysis. The results of IVIZT revealed that the clove oil treatment showed maximum inhibitory effect on the growth of Erwinia tracheiphila followed by mustard oil and neem oil. Sesamum oil showed the lowest efficacy against Erwinia tracheiphila. Optimum temperature range between 25-28°C, 80-85% relative humidity and 150-180 mm average rainfall triggered the disease progress and turned to be a severe one under experimental agro-climatic situation. Interpretation: Biochemical characterization and molecular detection of causal isolate confirmed the pathogen as Erwinia tracheiphila, causing wilt disease of Cucurbita pepo. This study also revealed the potential efficacy of clove oil and mustard oil against Erwinia tracheiphila as compared to other selected plant oils.

Context and objective: The molecular characterization of local isolates of Toxoplasma gondii is considered significant so as to assess the homologous variations between the different loci of various strains of parasites. Design and setting: The present communication deals with the molecular cloning and sequence analysis of the 1158 bp entire open reading frame (ORF) of surface antigen 3 (SAG3) of two Indian T. gondii isolates (Chennai and Izatnagar) being maintained as cryostock at the IVRI. Method: The surface antigen 3 (SAG3) of two local Indian isolates were cloned and sequenced before being compared with the available published sequences. Results: The sequence comparison analysis revealed 99.9% homology with the standard published RH strain sequence of T. gondii. The strains were also compared with other established published sequences and found to be most related to the P-Br strain and CEP strain (both 99.3%), and least with PRU strain (98.4%). However, the two Indian isolates had 100% homology between them. Conclusion: Finally, it was concluded that the Indian isolates were closer to the RH strain than to the P-Br strain (Brazilian strain), the CEP strain and the PRU strains (USA), with respect to nucleotide homology. The two Indian isolates used in the present study are known to vary between themselves, as far as homologies related to other genes are concerned, but they were found to be 100% homologous as far as SAG3 locus is concerned. This could be attributed to the fact that this SAG3 might be a conserved locus and thereby, further detailed studies are thereby warranted to exploit the use of this particular molecule in diagnostics and immunoprophylactics. The findings are important from the point of view of molecular phylogeny.

Introduction: Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) manifests as neurosensory detachment of the macula and observation has been considered as an appropriate first-line approach. Active treatment is required to prevent recurrences or chronic type. This study aim to evaluate the effectiveness of intravitreal ranibizumab injection (IVRI) for acute CSC. Methods: A single-center retrospective descriptive study. Five files of the patients who had the diagnosis of CSC then treated with IVRI between 2018 and 2019 have been investigated. IVRI were given once every 4 weeks until sub-retinal fluid resolved. Demographic details, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), and central macular thickness (CMT) were studied before and after treatment. Results: The mean age of the patients was 57 years (SD= 10.5 years) mostly female (3 patients). The mean duration before treatment was 3.8 weeks (SD= 1.4 weeks). The mean number of IVRI was 1.4 (SD= 0.5). The mean CMT before IVRI was 436.4 μm (SD= 109.1) and decreased to 243 μm (SD= 38.3) at the last visit. The mean BCVA before IVRI was 0.56 logMAR (SD= 0.37) and improved to 0.22 logMAR (SD= 0.29) Conclusion: IVRI appeared to be effective treatment for acute CSC. The mean CMT decreased and BCVA improved after therapy.

AbstractPCR-RFLP and nucleotide sequencing based genotyping of Toxoplasma gondii Indian isolates (Izatnagar and Chennai isolates and Chennai clone) vis-a vis RH-IVRI strain was conducted by targeting GRA6 as genetic marker. The 791 bp GRA6 product was PCR amplified from the genomic DNA of different T. gondii Indian isolates, including the RH-IVRI strain. Tru1I restriction endonuclease based PCR-RFLP of GRA6 sequence produced polymorphic digestion pattern that discriminated the virulent RH-IVRI strain (as type I) from the moderately virulent local isolates as type III. The PCR amplicon of T. gondii GRA6 from RH-IVRI strain as well as from the local isolates were cloned in cloning vector and custom sequenced. The nucleotide and deduced amino acid sequences of T. gondii isolates were aligned with that of the type I, II and III strains (RH, BEVERLEY, ME49, C56, TONT and NED) available in public domain and analyzed in silico using MEGA version 4.0 software. Nucleotide sequencing and phylogenetic analysis of GRA6 marker from the Indian isolates revealed a close genetic relationship with type III strains of T. gondii. Further, detection of a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) at positions 162 and 171 of the GRA6 marker, established the lineage of Indian isolates as type III. This is the first report on characterization of T. gondii lineage as type III in selective chicken population of India based on PCR-RFLP and sequence analysis of GRA6 gene.

Abstract Background Point-of-care ultrasound (POC-US) is a diagnostic test conducted at the site of patient care with direct interpretation by the clinician, providing immediate results. POC-US for gynecologic application is not well characterized by current literature yet has the potential to increase access in limited resource settings. We compared the diagnostics of three POC-US devices for gynecologic (GYN) pathology and then performed evaluation of sensitivity and specificity of a single best POC-US device for intended use in a low resource setting. Methods This is prospective, pilot descriptive study of 60 subjects. In part 1, comparison of three POC-US devices was performed. Twenty subjects underwent POC-US with three test units [GE Vscan (Vscan), Sonosite Iviz (Iviz), Philips Lumify (Lumify)] followed by diagnostic ultrasound (Dx-US) for reference imaging. Image quality and correlation for devices was scored by blinded reviewers and quantitative measurements of GYN pathology were compared. In part 2, forty subjects underwent POC-US validation with the highest scoring device (Lumify) and Dx-US for reference imaging. Concordance of POC-US operator-interpreted diagnosis with reference imaging interpretation were assessed by Cohen’s unweighted kappa coefficient. Accuracy and agreement of POC-US were assessed by linear regression and Bland–Altman plot analysis. Sensitivity and specificity of POC-US for gynecologic pathologies were calculated. Results In aggregate qualitative measurements, Lumify and Iviz units performed superiorly to Vscan. There was no statistically significant difference in quantitative measurements between devices, but a trend towards lower mean error was seen for Lumify and Iviz as compared to Vscan. Lumify device had highest overall scoring and was selected for further testing. In validation comparison of Lumify to Dx-US, no statistically significant differences were found for measurements of endometrium, uterus, ovaries, adnexal pathology, or leiomyomata, (P < 0.02) with excellent agreement in operator-interpreted diagnosis (Kappa > 0.7). Sensitivity and specificity of detecting pathology was 80–100% with PPV and NPV 76–100%. Conclusion Among three POC-US devices, Lumify and Iviz devices show highest potential for successful application to clinical gynecologic ultrasound. Clinician-performed POC-US has high diagnostic accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity for basic GYN anatomy and pathology. POC-US is an acceptable and feasible diagnostic tool with potential for future application in a low resource setting to increase access to ultrasound.
