Background. In this article I review key studies in the academic literature on football (soccer) hooliganism in the UK and around the world. I apply Armstrong’s anthropological approach to our 15–20 member West Perth unofficial cheer squad (hard-core supporter group) of 1984–1986 (Australian Rules football’s WAFL competition). Method. This is an ethnographic study of the West Perth cheer squad 1984–86 told from the viewpoint of the author who was co-founder and co-leader of this group. It is both strength and weakness of the research data that the author was an active participant in the events rather than a researcher performing typical ethnographic research as a non-participant. Results. I find that the anthropological approach is able to explain many aspects of our cheer squad’s culture and members’ behaviours including the quick disintegration of the cheer squad early in the 1986 season without anyone officially ending it. However, our group members did not adjust their commitment downwards during the cheer squad’s years of action; most members attended all home-and-away matches during May 1984–March 1986. This research also shows the diffusion of Australian Rules football supporter culture from Melbourne to Adelaide and from these two cities to Perth, to a lesser extent, and the impact of TV news reports of British football hooliganism on our group’s style and macho posturing. Conclusion. Detailed long-term ethnographic studies of individual football (soccer) hooligan firms and Australian Rules’ cheer squads are the most vital type of new research.

In modern conditions of the growth of unlawful acts, the volume of functional load of law enforcement agencies and their insufficiency on the population for effective activity, people’s squads are an interesting and rele-vant tool for ensuring public security. This study examines the formation and development of this institution, as well as the dawn of this civil association during the Soviet era. Currently, we can see the “rebirth” of this institution. The most problematic issues on the organization and legal status of the squads were resolved in 2014 with the adoption of Federal Law no. 44 “On the participation of citizens in the protection of public order.” One of the main activities of modern squads is the crimes prevention among the population. This activity is quite relevant. The people’s squad institute attaches great importance to ensuring regional security. In particular, there are 24 people’s squads in Tambov region, with a total number of more than 750 people. The people’s squad “Derzhava” effectively implements its activities on the territory of Tambov region. This squad remains a pioneer and leader in this activity in Tambov region.

Talent identification and development typically involve allocation of resources toward athletes selected on the basis of early-career performance.Purpose:To compare 4 methods for early-career selection of Australia’s 2012 Olympic-qualifying swimmers.Methods:Performance times from 5738 Australian swimmers in individual Olympic events at 101 competitions from 2000 to 2012 were analyzed as percentages of world-record times using 4 methods that retrospectively simulated early selection of swimmers into a talent-development squad. For all methods, squad-selection thresholds were set to include 90% of Olympic qualifiers. One method used each swimmer’s given-year performance for selection, while the others predicted each swimmer’s 2012 performance. The predictive methods were regression and neural-network modeling using given-year performance and age and quadratic trajectories derived using mixed modeling of each swimmer’s annual best career performances up to the given year. All methods were applied to swimmers in 2007 and repeated for each subsequent year through 2011.Results:The regression model produced squad sizes of 562, 552, 188, 140, and 93 for the years 2007 through 2011. Corresponding proportions of the squads consisting of Olympic qualifiers were 11%, 11%, 32%, 43%, and 66%. Neural-network modeling produced similar outcomes, but the other methods were less effective. Swimming Australia’s actual squads ranged from 91 to 67 swimmers but included only 50−74% of Olympic qualifiers.Conclusions:Large talent-development squads are required to include most eventual Olympic qualifiers. Criteria additional to age and performance are needed to improve early selection of swimmers to talent-development squads.

Many national sporting organizations recruit talented athletes to well-resourced centralized training squads to improve their performance.Purpose: To develop a method to monitor performance progression of swimming squads and to use this method to assess the progression of New Zealand’s centralized elite swimming squad.Methods: Best annual long-course competition times of all New Zealand swimmers with at least 3 y of performances in an event between 2002 and 2013 were downloaded from takeyourmarks.com (~281,000 times from ~8500 swimmers). A mixed linear model accounting for event, age, club, year, and elite-squad membership produced estimates of mean annual performance for 175 swim clubs and mean estimates of the deviation of swimmers’ performances from their individual quadratic trajectories after they joined the elite squad. Effects were evaluated using magnitude-based inferences, with a smallest important improvement in swim time of –0.24%.Results: Before 2009, effects of elite-squad membership were mostly unclear and trivial to small in magnitude. Thereafter, both sexes showed clear additional performance enhancements, increasing from large in 2009 (males –1.4% ± 0.8%, females –1.5% ± 0.8%; mean ± 90% confidence limits) to extremely large in 2013 (males –6.8% ± 1.7%, females –9.8% ± 2.9%). Some clubs also showed clear performance trends during the 11-y period.Conclusions: Our method of quantifying deviations from individual trends in competition performance with a mixed model showed that Swimming New Zealand’s centralization strategy took several years to produce substantial performance effects. The method may also be useful for evaluating performance-enhancement strategies introduced at national or club level in other sports.

Abstract The paper presents result of an empirical study in which presence of values among workers of two mining squads characterized by different level of work performance has been compared. Values have been measured by two scales: Mining Values Scale (MVS) and Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI). The squad with higher performance had significantly higher level of five out of nine values measured by (MVS); while none of the values measured by OCAI have been differentiating the squads with a statistical significance. The results suggest that Managing by Values (MBV) model for a mining corporation should rather be based on values specific for the mining industry rather than general management value set proposed by OCAI. Research results suggest also an association between presence of certain values and work satisfaction among workers.

Анотація:
The Army and Marine Corps have a need to increase infantry squad capabilities to improve tactical effectiveness while managing casualties. The Squad Overmatch (SOvM) project focused on the development and execution of a curriculum to incorporate Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TC3) coordination and decision-making into squad-level training, expanding a 2013 effort to enhance existing training methods and technologies with more realistic combat exercises and experiences. An integrated training approach (ITA), including knowledge and skills training for improving advanced situational awareness (ASA), resilience, TC3, medical skills/decision-making, and team performance was developed to help teams make better decisions from a tactical and teamwork perspective. Squads received foundation training in an instructor-led classroom setting, and then were given practice opportunities in scenario-based gaming and live scenarios. The ITA was designed to allow TC3 providers and squad leadership to practice and improve targeted skills in unit-level casualty scenarios balancing tactical and medical requirements. This paper examines the degree to which the ITA scenario training technologies provided the fidelity necessary to support SOvM-TC3 learning objectives. The results allow training designers to carefully assess how different technologies can impact training effectiveness.

In the article, the author considered the possibility of using unmanned aerial vehicles in the activities of a voluntary people’s squad during the protection of public order in the Russian Federation, the possibility of identifying violations and transmitting evidence obtained using unmanned aerial vehicles. The author found that the administrative-legal norms for the use of unmanned aerial vehicles by the people’s squad during the protection of public order in the Russian Federation have not been established, and therefore, in the opinion of the author, it is necessary to supplement the norms of civil law with the right to use technical equipment by people’s squads to protect public order. The author believes that the use of such means as an unmanned aerial vehicle would be justified, especially during mass events to ensure safety. The author believes that the urgent task in developing the legal regulation of the use of unmanned aerial vehicles by the national squad is to establish a balance in the administrative legal regulation of the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in order to optimally compromise the observance of the constitutional rights of citizens to privacy and public duty to protect public order.

The present study investigated the effect of including information to support transparency, based on the Situation awareness-based Agent Transparency (SAT) model, in the interface for an autonomous agent known as the Autonomous Squad Member (ASM). In four different SAT model-based display conditions, participants used the ASM’s interface to gain information about the ASM and simulated squad’s status as they completed a route containing obstacles. Results indicated that participants had greater trust in the ASM and were most effective at maintaining situation awareness when the ASM provided outcome predictions (SAT Level 3), in addition to planned actions (SAT Level 1) and a rationale for those actions (SAT Level 2). No differences in participant workload, while monitoring the ASM, were observed between SAT display conditions.

This work assessed the performance of a solution to the problem of assigning service squads, incorporating the variability of service times. The initial problem was modelled as a Travelling Salesman Problem (TSP), whose solution was obtained by the ant colony algorithm, showing the efficient route to be followed by the squad. Assessment of the performance of the solution by discrete event simulation (DES) included the travel time and added the service time. The TSP solution indicated that up to six customer visits could be carried out in an 8hour working day. Validation by DES presented a stable behavior of the variance, regardless of the number of visit sites assigned along the route.

L'interesse nei confronti delle strategie di brand discende da un lato dalla necessitŕ per le imprese sportive di diversificare le proprie attivitŕ e di svincolare le performance economiche dai risultati sul campo e, dall'altro, dalla progressiva affermazione delle relative squadre come veri e propri brand su cui far leva per rafforzare ed ampliare la propria posizione competitiva. Nella prima parte del lavoro viene pertanto analizzata l'affermazione della squadra quale brand evidenziando, al contempo, la necessitŕ di implementare adeguate strategie di sfruttamento dello stesso. Nella seconda parte sono dapprima identificate le tipologie di brand extension, quali line e category, di cui si delineano gli obiettivi, le modalitŕ di realizzazione e le criticitŕ ad esse associate; successivamente, č presentata la letteratura esistente sulla brand extension nelle imprese di servizi sportivi, la quale risente di un'attenzione finora modesta da parte degli Studiosi. Cet article aborde l’inscription matérielle de la mémoire des arts traditionnels et modernes au sein de créations contemporaines. Certaines d’entre elles nouent en effet un rapport fertile avec des oeuvres fondatrices de l’histoire de l’art. Ce dialogue prend la forme d’une reprise de l’original, lequel va être déplacé ou replacé au sein de nouveaux agencements de matière, constitués par les dispositifs visuels et/ou scéniques qui nous sont contemporains. Cette reprise est différente du recyclage postmoderne, car elle est dialogique au sens fort du terme. L’analyse se développe autour de trois études de cas : celle de l’oeuvre-installation intitulée Uraniborg de l’artiste français Laurent Grasso (Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, 2013), qui offre un excellent exemple de coexistence des arts et des temporalités; ensuite, une ouverture est faite sur l’installation scénoacoustique Stifters Dinge de Heiner Goebbels (Avignon, 2008); enfin, le dernier cas étudié est Gob Squad’s Kitchen du groupe Gob Squad (Usine C, 2013), qui s’appuie sur le film Kitchen de Warhol pour proposer une expérience théâtrale revisitant autrement l’avant-garde américaine moderne.

The problem of multifault rush repair in distribution networks (DNs) is a multiobjective dynamic combinatorial problem with topology constraints. The problem consists of archiving an optimal faults’ allocation strategy to squads and an admissible multifault rush repairing strategy with coordinating switch operations. In this article, the utility theory is introduced to solve the first problem and a new discrete bacterial colony chemotaxis (DBCC) algorithm is proposed for the second problem to determine the optimal sequence for each squad to repair faults and the corresponding switch operations. The above solution is called the two-stage approach. Additionally, a double mathematical optimization model based on the fault level is proposed in the second stage to minimize the outage loss and total repairing time. The real-time adjustment multiagent system (RA-MAS) is proposed to provide facility to achieve online multifault rush repairing strategy in DNs when there are emergencies after natural disasters. The two-stage approach is illustrated with an example from a real urban distribution network and the simulation results show the effectiveness of the two-stage approach.

L'assunto teorico dell'indagine condotta si basa sull'influenza agita sulle prestazioni dalle relazioni instaurate tra i membri di squadre sportive. L'impiego della Social Network Analysis (SNA) in questo contesto di studio si rende estremamente pertinente, dato che le squadre sportive presentano confini netti, costituiscono gruppi di soggetti ben definiti (reticoli completi), generano misure di outcome facilmente misurabili e l'efficacia dell'interdipendenza tra i propri membri produce un impatto diretto sulle performance (Lusher et al., 2010). L'unitŕ di analisi č costituita dai match disputati dalle squadre campionate, appartenenti a quattro specialitŕ sportive (pallacanestro, pallavolo, pallamano e pallanuoto) e distinti livelli di intensitŕ agonistica (dalla massima serie al dilettantismo). Attraverso gli strumenti della SNA, nell'indagine condotta vengono rilevate le relazioni interpersonali di matrice professionale e amicale: le prime misurano l'intesa di gioco e la reputazione professionale di ciascun giocatore; le seconde catturano quanto spesso gli atleti dichiarano di frequentarsi al di fuori dell'ambiente sportivo. I legami instaurati tra i giocatori vengono inoltre distinti in positivi e negativi. La ricerca si concentra perlopiů sulle relazioni di segno negativo in virtů della teoria dell'asimmetria negativa dei legami, secondo la quale gli eventi negativi stimolano una maggiore attivitŕ fisiologica, affettiva, cognitiva e comportamentale rispetto a quelli positivi o neutri (Labianca e Brass, 2006). Le medie degli indegree centrality dei legami positivi e negativi, e di tipo professionale e amicale, vengono impiegate per predire le performance collettive delle squadre, operativizzate attraverso la differenza standardizzata dei punteggi ottenuti in ciascun match. L'analisi condotta dimostra che l'appartenenza ad una serie agonistica rispetto ad un'altra influenza notevolmente l'effetto dei legami sulle prestazioni: in generale, i legami positivi si rendono premianti in termini di rendimento per le squadre professioniste, mentre quelli negativi risultano ostacolare le performance delle squadre meno professionali. Nello specifico, nelle squadre professioniste le relazioni di antipatia e di ostilitŕ tra i giocatori sono neutralizzate dall'osservanza delle regole tecniche in base alle quali essi sono chiamati ad interagire - osservanza che fa tutt'uno con la professionalitŕ loro richiesta, mentre le relazioni di segno positivo si rendono estremamente determinanti. Nel caso delle squadre non professioniste (i cui atleti percepiscono solo modesti vantaggi economici dall'attivitŕ agonistica sportiva), al contrario, i legami negativi tra i giocatori in campo (anche se in media assai meno frequenti che tra i giocatori professionisti) peggiorano sensibilmente i risultati conseguiti, mentre quelli positivi non dimostrano avere alcun effetto significativo.

Abstract This article examines the way that ethics underpin and affect audience participation in contemporary theatre, illustrated in the performance practice of British-German ensemble Gob Squad. It looks at how a proliferation of participatory practices has opened up a space for ethics to be reconfigured, and establishes that the ethics of participation may intimate that a ‘good’ performance is interchangeable with the idea of an ‘authentic’ performance. It emphasises a double dimension to the ethics of participation: the first is concerned with the self and the second is about everyone else, drawing on the corresponding theories of Nicholas Ridout (2009) and Erving Goffman (1959). Importantly, the article disentangles participation gone wrong and brings into view a new categorisation of spectator which I am calling the ‘dis-spectator,’ who deliberately challenges the structures and processes of the performance. At the centre of the discussion are a group of hecklers in the audience of Gob Squad’s War and Peace (2016), and their targeted jeering at a participant-spectator. My analysis develops a taxonomy of dis-spectatorship that outlines varying levels of transgressive behaviour from testing out the boundaries of participation to sabotaging the performance. Lastly, I call attention to a lack of consideration given to care and responsibility in participatory practices, which can leave participants in a precarious position.

Tyrimo tikslas – išskirti seržantų psichologinės atrankos kriterijus ir sukurti situacinio atrankos testo pirminį variantą. Iš viso tyrime dalyvavo 369 tiriamieji – kariai, seržantai (skyrininkai, būrininkai, kuopininkai) ir būrių vadai. Remiantis pirmojo tyrimų etapo duomenų analize išskirti penki seržantų atrankos kriterijai, vienam iš jų – lyderiavimui – nutarta kurti situacinį testą. Išskyrus problemines seržantų darbo situacijas, įvertintas jų aktualumas ir sunkumas (į pirminį testo variantą įtraukta 15 užduočių). Paskui atlikta užduočių sunkumo ir skiriamosios gebos statistinė analizė, įvertintas situacinio testo vertintojų patikimumas ir sutapimo validumas. Sergeants can be set for a variety of duties, therefore different kinds of personality traits and abilities are required. In Lithuania, sergeant selection is based on education, health report and reference letter. So there is no appropriate psychological criterion for the selection of sergeants.The purpose of the present research was to identify criteria of selection of leaders of small army units (section and squad) as well as develop a situational test for their psychological selection and testing their psychometric characteristics. The situational test was based on the leadership criterion. The total number of 369 respondents – soldiers, leaders of sections, leaders of squads and their supervisors – participated in the research. A job analysis questionnaire based on the evaluation of interviewdata and on job descriptions for section and squad leaders was developed, as well as a questionnaire for rating the attributes possessed by good leaders of small army units was compiled. Afterwards one more questionnaire was made, in whichthe importance of the chosen attributes was assessed by linking them to the most important tasks of section and squad leaders. Factor analysis of data resulted in five selection criteria: target-oriented behaviour, leadership, military discipline, interpersonal competence, dutifulness. Within the initial version of the situational test, an interview with section and squad leaders and their supervisors was conducted. There were 29 problematic situations selected from their job. Experts assessed the relevance and difficulty of these situations. Finally, 15 situations were selected for the initial version of the situational test. Then the evaluation of test score reliability and concurrent validity was made. The level of difficulty and discriminative characteristics of each test item (problematic situation) was evaluated as well. Test score reliability and concurrent validity were significant (p < 0.01). Eleven situations were of a sufficient difficulty and discriminative power level. The concurrent validity of the test was assessed after making some corrections by excluding four situations, and it was significant (p < 0.01). Based on the results of quantitative and qualitative sociological surveys of police officers, people's guards, representatives of the scientific community, the state of interaction between the police and the people's guards in the Khabarovsk Territory is analyzed. The author comes to the conclusion that the people's guards can be considered as an effective form of assistance to the police in the protection of public order. The article shows the positive aspects of the interaction between the police and the people's guards, presents some aspects that can be considered as problematic. The latter mainly includes the low interest of the vigilantes to work in the corresponding people's squad. The author shows the reasons that demotivate the people's guards, outlines the ways to improve the interaction between the police and the people's guards in the region.

Context. The KiDS Strongly lensed QUAsar Detection project (KiDS-SQuaD) is aimed at finding as many previously undiscovered gravitational lensed quasars as possible in the Kilo Degree Survey. This is the second paper of this series where we present a new, automatic object-classification method based on the machine learning technique. Aims. The main goal of this paper is to build a catalogue of bright extragalactic objects (galaxies and quasars) from the KiDS Data Release 4, with minimum stellar contamination and preserving the completeness as much as possible. We show here that this catalogue represents the perfect starting point to search for reliable gravitationally lensed quasar candidates. Methods. After testing some of the most used machine learning algorithms, decision-tree-based classifiers, we decided to use CatBoost, which was specifically trained with the aim of creating a sample of extragalactic sources that is as clean of stars as possible. We discuss the input data, define the training sample for the classifier, give quantitative estimates of its performances, and finally describe the validation results with Gaia DR2, AllWISE, and GAMA catalogues. Results. We built and made available to the scientific community the KiDS Bright EXtraGalactic Objects catalogue (KiDS-BEXGO), specifically created to find gravitational lenses but applicable to a wide number of scientific purposes. The KiDS-BEXGO catalogue is made of ≈6 million sources classified as quasars (≈200 000) and galaxies (≈5.7 M) up to r < 22m. To demonstrate the potential of the catalogue in the search for strongly lensed quasars, we selected ≈950 “Multiplets”: close pairs of quasars or galaxies surrounded by at least one quasar. We present cutouts and coordinates of the 12 most reliable gravitationally lensed quasar candidates. We showed that employing a machine learning method decreases the stellar contaminants within the gravitationally lensed candidates, comparing the current results to the previous ones, presented in the first paper from this series. Conclusions. Our work presents the first comprehensive identification of bright extragalactic objects in KiDS DR4 data, which is, for us, the first necessary step towards finding strong gravitational lenses in wide-sky photometric surveys, but has also many other more general astrophysical applications.

The article is devoted to the analysis of the experience of the organization and activity of labour squads during the World War I. It can help to work out in details of state youth policy in the different historical stages of its development. The mission of those squads was to help the farmsteads, which stayed without workers because of their mobilization to the war. using the archive sources from the Orel province and data from other regions the author comes to theconclusion that labour squads were a form of mobilization of labor resources by the state. At the same time it was the way of socialization of youth and a form of state youth policy. Describing the system of labour squads management, the article says about participation of members of the royal family, provincial authorities, local self-governance, charity organizations and the public in it.

Si tratta di una ricerca prettamente d'archivio, basata sui documenti dell'Ufficio storico dell'aeronautica militare, sul fondo Corte d'assise straordinaria di Milano e sui fondi dell'Archivio cen-trale dello stato di Roma. L'analisi si inserisce quindi negli studi sulle squadre di polizia della Repubbli-ca sociale italiana ma, allo stesso tempo, cerca di avviare un filone di ricerca specifico, che riguarda un tipo di polizia "informale", volontaria e autonoma, nata in un contesto militare, formale e istituzionalizza-to. L'esposizione descrive brevemente la condizione dell'Aeronautica di Salò, per poi entrare nello spe-cifico delle squadre oggetto di studio, analizzandone la genesi, la composizione, la struttura, le peculiari-tà. Una parte della ricerca espone quindi gli eventi storici, focalizzandosi su come queste squadre eserci-tarono il ruolo di polizia in chiave anti-partigiana. Un ampio spazio dello studio è dedicato a valutare le responsabilità dei vertici militari, mentre un altro indaga il volontarismo e le aspirazioni personali degli avieri. In military operations, commanders gather information in real-time from multiple sources. Their immediate communication is primarily through audio and/or visual devices. At the same time, most of their tasks rely heavily on the visual modality. Together with the need to execute tasks rapidly, cognitive overload and decreased performance may occur. It has been shown that in operational settings tactile alerts can enhance performance and improve information transfer in terms of cognitive workload and interruptions management. We aim to transfer sub-primary information to the commander via tactile alerts in order to improve awareness to accumulation of new relevant information. A field examination introduced this concept of alerts for the case of squad disconnections (separation of squad member from the team) and was aimed at providing information to commanders via visual or tactile modalities. Eighteen infantry soldiers took part in this examination. The participants were divided into three squads. Each squad consisted of one commander and 5 soldiers. All participants were military reserve soldiers who have been on active duty in the year prior to the study. Each commander wore two tactile bracelets, one on each forearm, which were used to transfer the tactile alert. The visual alerts were activated through a regular smartphone and the alert appeared visually on the phone's screen (without audio or vibration). The experiment included an urban navigation task from one waypoint to another. The duration of each experiment was 75 minutes and the pace of the navigation was set at an operational pace of 3-4 km/h. During the navigation task, the commander was required to detect targets on route and mark them on a map and at same time to ensure that there are no separations between squad members. The route was split into three sections: in the first section the commander received tactile alerts for disconnection, in the second section he received visual alerts and the third section was a baseline condition with no alerts. The third section simulated the current and common practice in armies today. The experimental findings focused on commanders' performance: navigation abilities, and target detection and response time to the separation/cutoff events. Each one of the commanders had one navigation error, i.e., wrong turn. For each one of the three participants, this error occurred in the visual alert condition, i.e. when they received alerts through the visual interface. With regards to target detection, the experimental results indicated a slight advantage for the tactile alerts condition (with a 73% success rate) compared to visual alerts or the baseline condition (with an average of 67% success for both cases). Regarding the response time to the separation/cutoff events, all three commanders identified and reported all 9 disconnection events that occurred during their experiment, which is quite expected as they are experienced Infantry commanders. A linear mixed model (LMM) was used on the log of the response time. The time until detection of disconnection with tactile alerts was approximately 9 times shorter than the detection time in the case of visual alerts and no alerts. Although the visual display condition had no significant statistical difference than the baseline, shorter response times were seen in the visual condition section. Results revealed that using tactile alerts during a mission decreased commanders’ response time to mission critical events compared to visual alerts or no alerts. Commanders' subjective opinions of tactile devices were highly supportive. Future research should include the effect of integration of tactile alerts and tactile communications on commanders and soldiers in operational environments.

Abstract The article aims to describe experimental research into infantry squad pre-combat formations. It focuses on the most used formations, and addresses their advantages and suitability for various tactical situations. A highlighted feature of the experiment is the involvement of units with varying degrees of training as research subjects: from novices through to professional soldiers, from combat squads to instructors of the elite course of the ACR ground forces. The synthesized results can therefore be perceived as having universal validity. For broad-spectrum research of their properties and usability, each formation is evaluated in different terrains and different tactical situations. The presented data are usable in practice for training infantry, motorized airborne units, and in certain cases mechanized forces and combat support units. Research into this area of small-unit tactics is now even more progressive, since a significant number of tasks in conducting combat operations are being transferred to small units. This is at the expense of large troop formations, which are increasingly difficult to use in times of high-precision weapons and hybrid warfare. In certain situations even a small unit can perform tasks with operational ramifications. Moreover, in this area of tactics publications are very rare due to the low scientific interest and the inclusion of information falling under the ‘classified information’ of individual armies. The data presented in the article are set in their broader context, commented upon by the authors of the training, and described with the intention their inclusion in the training of troops.

The paper focuses on the problem of the ship operation when it is necessary to provide survivability for the ship to overcome the effects of the external environment during the voyage, failures of technical equipment, and errors of the human factor. To maintain the ship’s survivability, the guidance documents recommend providing the emergency squad with the resource that is necessary to maintain the ship’s survivability in emergency situations. It is said that in the struggle for survivability of the ship each member of the emergency squad in real time should evaluate not only the technical and organizational equipment of the squad, but also the degree of readiness of the human factor, especially practical skills. The approach to the model of fighting for survivability of a ship associates functioning of the emergency squad first of all with the reliability of preventive measures of technical means and the effectiveness of professional training of emergency squad personnel. Within the framework of the policy of constant and comprehensive training of the emergency squad personnel, the ship and company authorities need to reduce using technical and organizational resources to a minimum level. The costs of training shipboard specialists from the emergency squad should also be minimized, but to the point where the specialist, obtaining the sufficient skills to fight for survivability justify the costs incurred
