Abstract:
Global Factor scores from Cattell's Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16PF) were correlated with Holland codes using mean 16PF profiles from 69 occupational groups as data. Unlike prior studies, this study features occupational groups as the unit of analysis. Two analyses were done to test expectations, (a) 16PF scores would significantly discriminate among Holland types and (b) 16PF mean scores for each type would differ from the population mean in a direction consistent with prior research. Results met expectations on each analysis. Findings for two of the Global Factors (Anxiety and

This article provides a reply to Cattell's 1995 comments on some methodological issues related to Byravan and Ramanaiah's 1995 study and shows that their study was methodologically sound. It was concluded that the results of Byravan and Ramanaiah's study were different from those of Cattell's 1995 factor analyses mainly due to the fact that the former involved the factor analysis of 16PF primary scales from the perspective of the five-factor model using Revised NEO Personality Inventory domain scales and Goldberg's 1992 scales as markers for the five major factors whereas the latter investigat

One of the most innovative and ambitious attempts to describe the human personality in ways that are both quantifiable and empirically testable is the theoretical approach of Raymond B. Cattell. Expert witnesses who offer testimony based on the Cattell tests (e.g., 16PF, CAQ, 8SQ, HSPQ, CPQ, MAT, SMAT) face special challenges and pitfalls during direct and cross-examination. This article provides sample deposition and cross-examination questions that expert witnesses may use to assess their own knowledge of the theory and tests and to prepare to offer testimony about assessments based on Catte

The relationship between occupational preferences and personality traits was examined. A randomly chosen sample of 735 students (age range = 17 to 23 years; 50.5% male) in their last year of high school participated in this study. Participants completed Cattell's Sixteen Personality Factor–5 Questionnaire (16PF–5 Questionnaire) and the Kuder–C Professional Tendencies Questionnaire. Initial hierarchical cluster analysis categorized the participants into two groups by Kuder–C vocational factors: one showed a predilection for scientific or technological careers and the other a bias toward the hum

The ratio between second and fourth finger (2D:4D) is sexually dimorphic; it is lower in men than in women. Studies using broad personality domains yielded correlations of 2D:4D with neuroticism, extraversion or agreeableness, but the obtained results have been inconsistent. We correlated 2D:4D of 184 women and 101 men with their scores in Cattell's 16 Personality Factor (16PF) Questionnaire. We found women with a higher (more ‘feminine’) right hand 2D:4D to score lower in emotional stability and social boldness and higher in privateness. The aim of the present study was to assess the relationship between personality, as measured by the five global factors of Cattell's 16PF, and occupational interests, as measured by Holland's Vocational Preference Inventory (VPI). Data were obtained from 122 undergraduate students studying various degree programs at a Melbourne university. Partial support was found for the hypothesis that vocational interests correlate with personality measures. No significant differences were found between the scores on the personality factors for the Pilot Incumbents and the Pilot Applicants. Further, the incumbents and applicants who had previous military training versus those who did not had highly similar personalities. The Latin phrase "Adolescere," which means to reach adolescence, is where the word "adolescence" originates. Both physical and mental development occurs during adolescence. A person's personality is defined as the consistent thought, feeling, and behaviour patterns they display over time. These patterns significantly impact how we see ourselves, other people, and the world around us. They also help us anticipate how we will respond to stress, issues, and other people.
