Abstract:
Abstract Introduction Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic immune-mediated disease that includes Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. People with IBD experience poor sleep health, including short and highly fragmented sleep and extraintestinal manifestations including alterations to cognitive functioning; however, the relationships between sleep health and cognitive symptoms have not been evaluated in this population. The purpose of this study was to identify the associations between sleep health and perceived cognitive impairments in adults with IBD. Methods We conducted a descrip

The article presents the results of sonographic diagnosis of carotid atherosclerosis in 127 patients with ischemic stroke (IS) aged 38-74 year (average age 56±7 years). The comparison group (CG) consisted of 51 people with risk factors for cardiovascular diseases without a history of stroke. It has been established that arterial hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus are significantly more common among patients with IS than in patients of CG. The frequency of localization of atherosclerotic plaques on the walls of the carotid arteries was determined depending on the course of the stroke. Se

Aims, Objectives and BackgroundThere is evidence that COVID-19 ‘lockdowns’ may have contributed to increased non-accidental injury, domestic violence and self-harm related to deteriorating mental health. Internationally, there is also evidence that the diversion of health care resources may led to worse outcomes for patients presenting with major trauma. There has been no previous national evaluation of ‘lockdown’ measures impact on the characteristics, treatment pathways and outcomes of trauma patients in EnglandWe aimed to assess the impact of successive lockdowns on the volume, demographics

International guidelines have noted a lack of evidence to support management decisions in such patients.MethodsA systematic review, pre-registered (CRD42017071411) and following Cochrane Collaboration recommendations, was performed. Studies showed hippocampal atrophy in MS, but the underlying mechanisms remain unknown. Inflammation has been proposed to play a significant role, and associations between systemic inflammatory biomarkers and hippocampal atrophy have been shown in other neurological conditions. However, research exploring serum biomarker and volumetric associations in MS are lacking. Given that conventional imaging methods lack resolution for hippocampal internal architec

Classically, circulating ADAs associate with their specific drugs to form immune complexes, increasing drug clearance, and by this mechanism reducing therapeutic effect3. B cell involvement leading to ADAs production is not yet well established. Objectives:To study early ADAs formation according to clinical response to an adalimumab therapy in RA patients and the relationship between ADAs and circulating

Objectives. Diagnostic errors are a known patient safety concern across all clinical settings, including the emergency department (ED). We conducted a systematic review to determine the most frequent diseases and clinical presentations associated with diagnostic errors (and resulting harms) in the ED, measure error and harm frequency, as well as assess causal factors. Methods. We searched PubMed®, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL®), and Embase® from January 2000 through September 2021.
