Abstract:
Connexin 35/36 is the most widespread neuronal gap junction protein in the retina and central nervous system. Electrical and/or tracer coupling in a number of neuronal circuits that express this connexin are regulated by light adaptation. In many cases, the regulation of coupling depends on signaling pathways that activate protein kinases such as PKA, and Cx35 has been shown to be regulated by PKA phosphorylation in cell culture systems. To examine whether phosphorylation might regulate Cx35/36 in the retina we developed phospho-specific polyclonal antibodies against the two regulatory phosphorylation sites of Cx35 and examined the phosphorylation state of this connexin in the retina. Western blot analysis with hybrid bass retinal membrane preparations showed Cx35 to be phosphorylated at both the Ser110 and Ser276 sites, and this labeling was eliminated by alkaline phosphatase digestion. The homologous sites of mouse and rabbit Cx36 were also phosphorylated in retinal membrane preparations. Quantitative confocal immunofluorescence analysis showed gap junctions identified with a monoclonal anti-Cx35 antibody to have variable levels of phosphorylation at both the Ser110 and Ser276 sites. Unusual gap junctions that could be identified by their large size (up to 32 μm2) and location in the IPL showed a prominent shift in phosphorylation state from heavily phosphorylated in nighttime, dark-adapted retina to weakly phosphorylated in daytime, light-adapted retina. Both Ser110 and Ser276 sites showed significant changes in this manner. Under both lighting conditions, other gap junctions varied from non-phosphorylated to heavily phosphorylated. We predict that changes in the phosphorylation states of these sites correlate with changes in the degree of coupling through Cx35/36 gap junctions. This leads to the conclusion that connexin phosphorylation mediates changes in coupling in some retinal networks. However, these changes are not global and likely occur in a cell type-specific or possibly a gap junction-specific manner.

Abstract:
Stephen Tracy's neat demonstration that IG I3 35—authorizing the building of a temple and appointment of a priestess for Athena Nike—was cut by the man responsible for the Promachos accounts (IG I 435) at first seemed decisive for the traditional c. 448 B.C. against my radical down-dating. Ira Mark then argued that this decree provided for the naiskos and altar of his Stage III in the 440s: the marble temple belonged to Stage IV over twenty years later. Despite these two powerful interventions the matter is not closed. David Gill has, I fancy, convincingly refuted Mark on archaeological and architectural grounds. And there is still more to be said from the epigraphic angle.IG I 36, cut on the back of the stele, looks like a delayed rider to 35. But just how delayed was it? It arranged for the regular payment of the priestess's salary by the kolakretai in office in the month Thargelion. On the traditional view the gap would be close to a quarter of a century, since 36 is firmly dated 424/3 B.C. This is quite extraordinary, though reasons have been found for it. More serious perhaps is some neglected epigraphic evidence. We have eighteen other examples in fifth-century Attic epigraphy where decrees are followed on the same stone by other texts; but virtually all the gaps are short, never more than a few years. The relevant texts are IG I 4, 11/12, 41, 42/43, 52 A–B, 59, 61, 66, 68, 71, 72, 73, 89, 93, 101, 127/II1, 156, 1454. It is true that 42/43 are dated c. 445–442 and c. 435–427 B.C. in IG I, but this is quite arbitrary.

Abstract:
This thesis presents a new critical edition of four orations by Libanius : oration 34 (in response to the pedagogue’s badmouthing), 35 (To those who do not speak), 36 (About witchcraft) and 43 (About the convention) and new translations with commentaries. This first set is completed by thematic studies taking into account the rhetoric and historical dimension of these texts. The Libanius corpus played a key role in the emergence and development of Late Antiquity studies. A new approach to these four texts offers an undisputable interest for the knowledge of the school world of that time; they issue indeed a lot of information about the world and the status of teachers of rhetoric, on the social role of the school and the place of rhetoric in education. They constitute a very rich source for institutional, cultural and social history of the 4th century AD. Their contribution to the history of the urban area of Antioch, search field currently being explored, should not be left out

Abstract:

Abstract:
Stadler Rail has developed a new regional train, the Stadler GTW (‘Gelenk-Trieb-Wagen’, i.e., Articulated Powered Car) for Capital Metro, Austin, Texas. This DMU is compliant with the requests of EN15227, the new European standard for crashworthiness of railway vehicles. The following collision scenarios have been investigated: • train against identical train at a closing speed of 36 kmph (22 mph); • train against 80-ton-freight wagon at a closing speed of 36 kmph (22 mph), and • train against a large deformable obstacle (representing a truck) at a closing speed of 85 kmph (53 mph). Numerical analyses show that the new crashworthy train design guarantees sufficient and controlled energy absorption and maintains the survival space required. Dynamic testing of the crash absorber modules has validated the results of the nonlinear analyses. In the course of the certification process with the FRA additional requirements have been imposed for the dynamic qualification of cab car end structures: :These scenarios consist of a collision at a closing speed of 21 mph (34 kmph) with a rigid cylinder (diameter of 48 inches (1220 mm), length of 36 inches (914 mm) and a minimum weight of 10000 lbf (4535 kg). These requirements have been easily met. Additionally, new FRA proposals have been investigated: • collisions with a steel coil in different front positions; • collision with a rigid wall at a closing speed of 56 kmph (35 mph); • front end collision with a representative FRA compliant locomotive at a closing speed of 56 kmph (35 mph). The numerical analyses of these scenarios show that the crashworthy train design which has been developed to comply with the European requests is able to fulfill the FRA requirements.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper presents preliminary results of an experimental investigation of the modal characteristics of a 400′ continuous composite girder highway bridge on U.S. Interstate 35. The test data is compared to an analytical model based on the finite element (FE) method. An impact hammer was used as an exciter, and the bridge acceleration response was measured at 36 points. The results indicate that the analytical model can faithfully predict the modal response of the bridge.

Abstract:

Abstract:
In the subduction zone of the Aleutian arc, the angle of inclination of the sinking Pacific plate affects the focal mechanisms of earthquakes registered in the upper part (up to 35 km) of the oceanic plate at the point of its bend, before sinking into the deep–water trough. With a steep slope of the immersion Pacific plate, there are earthquakes with normal faults in the foci, with a gentle slope – a small number with thrust faults. In areas of flat plate displacement in the depth range of 36–70, earthquakes with with normal faults in the foci.

Abstract:
Aim: To study the impact of tumour regression occurring during IMRT for locally advanced carcinoma cervix and study dose distribution to target volume and OARs and hence the need for any replanning. Materials and Methods: 40 patients undergoing IM-IGRT and weekly chemotherapy were included in the study. After 36 Gy, a second planning CT-scan was done and target volume and OARs were recontoured. First plan (non-adaptive) was compared with second plan (adaptive plan) to evaluate whether it would still offer sufficient target coverage to the CTV and spare the OARs after having delivered 36 Gy. Finally new plan was created based on CT-images to investigate whether creating a new treatment plan would optimize target coverage and critical organ sparing. To measure the response of the primary tumour and pathologic nodes to EBRT, the differences in the volumes of the primary GTV and nodal GTV between the pretreatment and intratreatment CT images was calculated. Second intratreatment IMRT plans was generated, using the delineations of the intratreatment CT images. The first IMRT plan (based on the first CT-scan or non adaptive plan) was compared with second IMRT plan (based on the second CT-scan or adaptive plan). Results: 35% patients had regression in GTV in the range of 4.1% to 5%, 20% in the range of 1.1%-2%, 15% in the range of 2.1%-3% and 20% in the range of 6%-15%. There was significant mean decrease in GTV of 4.63 cc (p=0.000). There was a significant decrease in CTV on repeat CT done after 36 Gy by 23.31 cc (p=0.000) and in PTV by 23.31 cc (p=0.000). There was a statistically significant increase in CTV D98, CTV D95, CTV D50 and CTV D2 in repeat planning CT done after 36 Gy. There was no significant alteration in OARs doses. Conclusion: Despite tumour regression and increased target coverage in locally advanced carcinoma cervix after a delivery of 36 Gy there was no sparing of OARs. Primary advantage of adaptive RT seems to be in greater target coverage with non-significant normal tissue sparing.

Abstract:

The paper deals with the design and production of a segmented prestressed bridge made of Ultra High Performance Fiber Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC) The footbridge is installed in the town of Příbor in Czech Republic. The UHPFRC or UHPC material in the Czech Republic gradually finds its way to interesting and unique design applications. The paper presents the design and production of a segmented bridge of the first type in the Czech Republic, designed as a simple beam of 35 meters total length of 36 meters, which is created by the closure of five double-chamber segments 2,5 m wide and 0,8 m height. The UHPFRC class C110 / 130 was chosen as a structural material with a dispersed steel reinforcement developed by Klokner Institute CTU in Prague.

Abstract:
In this Insight Note, we report results of a phone survey that the RISE Tanzania Research team conducted with 2,240 parents (or alternate primary care-givers) of primary school children following the school closures in Tanzania. After the first case of COVID-19 was confirmed in Tanzania on 16 March 2020, the government ordered all primary schools closed the following day. Schools remained closed until 29 June 2020. Policymakers and other education stakeholders were concerned that the closures would lead to significant learning loss if children did not receive educational support or engagement at home. To help stem learning loss, the government promoted radio, TV, and internet-based learning content to parents of school-age children. The primary aims of the survey were to understand how children and families responded to the school closures, the education related activities they engaged in, and their strategies to send children back to school. The survey also measures households’ engagement with remote learning content over the period of school closures. We supplement the findings of the parent survey with insights from interviews with Ward Education Officers about their activities during the school closures. The survey sample is comprised of primary care-givers (in most cases, parents) of students enrolled in Grades 3 and 4 during the 2020 school year. The survey builds on an existing panel of students assessed in 2019 and 2020 in a nationally representative sample of schools.4 The parent surveys were conducted using Computer Assisted Telephonic Interviewing (CATI) over a two-week period in early September 2020, roughly two months after the re-opening of primary schools. We report the following key findings from this survey: *Almost all (more than 99 percent) of children in our sample were back in school two months after schools re-opened. The vast majority of parents believed it was either safe or extremely safe for their children to return to school. *Only 6 percent of households reported that their children listened to radio lessons during the school closures; and a similar fraction (5.5 percent) tuned into TV lessons over the same period. Less than 1 percent of those surveyed accessed educational programmes on the internet. Households with access to radio or TV reported higher usage. *Approximately 1 in 3 (36 percent) children worked on the family farm during the closures, with most children working either 2 or 3 days a week. Male children were 6.2 percentage points likelier to work on the family farm than female children. *Households have limited access to education materials for their child. While more than 9 out of 10 households have an exercise book, far fewer had access to textbooks (35 percent) or own reading books (31 percent). *One in four parents (24 percent) read a book to their child in the last week.
