Abstract:
Connexin 35/36 is the most widespread neuronal gap junction protein in the retina and central nervous system. Electrical and/or tracer coupling in a number of neuronal circuits that express this connexin are regulated by light adaptation. In many cases, the regulation of coupling depends on signaling pathways that activate protein kinases such as PKA, and Cx35 has been shown to be regulated by PKA phosphorylation in cell culture systems. To examine whether phosphorylation might regulate Cx35/36 in the retina we developed phospho-specific polyclonal antibodies against the two regulatory phosphorylation sites of Cx35 and examined the phosphorylation state of this connexin in the retina. Western blot analysis with hybrid bass retinal membrane preparations showed Cx35 to be phosphorylated at both the Ser110 and Ser276 sites, and this labeling was eliminated by alkaline phosphatase digestion. The homologous sites of mouse and rabbit Cx36 were also phosphorylated in retinal membrane preparations. Quantitative confocal immunofluorescence analysis showed gap junctions identified with a monoclonal anti-Cx35 antibody to have variable levels of phosphorylation at both the Ser110 and Ser276 sites. Unusual gap junctions that could be identified by their large size (up to 32 μm2) and location in the IPL showed a prominent shift in phosphorylation state from heavily phosphorylated in nighttime, dark-adapted retina to weakly phosphorylated in daytime, light-adapted retina. Both Ser110 and Ser276 sites showed significant changes in this manner. Under both lighting conditions, other gap junctions varied from non-phosphorylated to heavily phosphorylated. We predict that changes in the phosphorylation states of these sites correlate with changes in the degree of coupling through Cx35/36 gap junctions. This leads to the conclusion that connexin phosphorylation mediates changes in coupling in some retinal networks. However, these changes are not global and likely occur in a cell type-specific or possibly a gap junction-specific manner.

Abstract:
Stephen Tracy's neat demonstration that IG I3 35—authorizing the building of a temple and appointment of a priestess for Athena Nike—was cut by the man responsible for the Promachos accounts (IG I 435) at first seemed decisive for the traditional c. 448 B.C. against my radical down-dating. Ira Mark then argued that this decree provided for the naiskos and altar of his Stage III in the 440s: the marble temple belonged to Stage IV over twenty years later. Despite these two powerful interventions the matter is not closed. David Gill has, I fancy, convincingly refuted Mark on archaeological and architectural grounds. And there is still more to be said from the epigraphic angle.IG I 36, cut on the back of the stele, looks like a delayed rider to 35. But just how delayed was it? It arranged for the regular payment of the priestess's salary by the kolakretai in office in the month Thargelion. On the traditional view the gap would be close to a quarter of a century, since 36 is firmly dated 424/3 B.C. This is quite extraordinary, though reasons have been found for it. More serious perhaps is some neglected epigraphic evidence. We have eighteen other examples in fifth-century Attic epigraphy where decrees are followed on the same stone by other texts; but virtually all the gaps are short, never more than a few years. The relevant texts are IG I 4, 11/12, 41, 42/43, 52 A–B, 59, 61, 66, 68, 71, 72, 73, 89, 93, 101, 127/II1, 156, 1454. It is true that 42/43 are dated c. 445–442 and c. 435–427 B.C. in IG I, but this is quite arbitrary.

Abstract:
The Caenorhabditis elegans gene lin-36 acts to antagonize Ras-mediated vulval induction in a pathway that includes genes with products similar to the mammalian retinoblastoma (Rb) protein and the Rb-binding protein p48. We report that lin-36 encodes a novel protein of 962 amino acids. We demonstrate that lin-36 functions in and is expressed in the vulval precursor cells, establishing that the lin-36 pathway is involved in intercellular signaling. We also report that the lin-36 pathway and/or another pathway that is functionally redundant with the lin-36 pathway antagonize a ligand-independent activity of the receptor tyrosine kinase/Ras vulval induction pathway.

Abstract:
Background and Objectives: Clinicians are called to overcome age-related challenges in decision making during In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment. The aim of this study was to investigate the possible impact of a single calendar year difference among patients aged 34, 35 and 36 on IVF outcomes. Materials and Methods: Medical records between 2008 and 2019 were analyzed retrospectively. The study group consisted of women diagnosed with tubal factor infertility. Sample size was divided in three categories at 34, 35 and 36 years of age. Embryo transfer including two blastocysts was performed for every patient. Comparisons were performed regarding hormonal profile, response to stimulation, quality of transferred embryos, positive hCG test and clinical pregnancy rate. Results: A total of 706 women were eligible to participate. Two-hundred and forty-eight women were 34, 226 were 35 while the remaining 232 were 36 years old. Regarding the hormonal profile, the number of accumulated oocytes and the quality of embryos transferred, no statistically significant difference was documented between the three age groups. Women aged 34 and 35 years old indicated a significantly increased positive hCG rate in comparison to women aged 36 years old (p-value = 0.009, p-value = 0.023, respectively). Women aged 34 and 35 years old presented with a higher clinical pregnancy rate in comparison to those aged 36 years old (p-value = 0.04, p-value = 0.05, respectively). Conclusion: A calendar year difference between patients undergoing IVF treatment at 34 or 35 years of age does not appear to exert any influence regarding outcome. When treatment involves patients above the age of 35, then a single calendar year may exert considerable impact on IVF outcome. This observation indicates that age 35 may serve as a valid cut-off point regarding IVF outcome.

Abstract:
The bioremediation research of chlorpyrifos has been done to remove the concentration of chlorphyrifos using the natural bacterial Thiobacillus sp. and Clostridium sp.. The efficiency of chlorpyrifos removal was determined by the temperature and contact time. The research was done by adding 100 ppm of chlorpyrifos into the Stone Mineral Salt solution (SMSs) under controlled condition, then each bacterial are added as much as 10% (v/v) with pH 7. To obtain optimum efficiency, this study was conducted with temperature variation (°C) 25, 30, 35, 40 and contact time (hours) 12, 24, 36, 48. Based on Gas Chromatography Mass Spektrofotometer (GC-MS) analysis, the efficiency of removal at temperature (°C) 25, 30, 35, 40 are 43%, 68%, 71% and 52% respectively, while the removal efficiency at contact time (hours) 12, 24, 36, 48 are 43%, 49%, 74%, and 36%. The result showed that 74% removal efficiency by Thiobacillus sp. and Clostridium sp. obtained at 35°C in 36 hours of contact time. Thus, the mixed culture of Thiobacillus sp. and Clostridium sp. are able to synergize for removing the chlorpyrifos at 100 ppm.

Abstract:
A neutrino burst was observed in the KAMIOKANDE-II detector on 23 February, 7:35:35 UT ( ±1 minute) during a time interval of 13 seconds. The signal consisted of 11 electron events of energy 7.5 to 36 MeV, of which the first 2 point back to the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) with angles 18° ± 18 ° and 15° ± 27°.A new analysis of the special low threshold trigger counts strongly indicates that KAMIOKANDE did not observe any signals at 2:52:36 which is the time claimed by the Mont Blanc group.

Abstract:
The clinical features and management of food engorgement (FE) in dogs have not been previously described. This retrospective observational study describes characteristics and outcome of 35 dogs with FE, and compares features on presentation to 36 dogs with gastric dilation and volvulus (GDV). Cases were retrospectively reviewed for history, clinical findings and outcome. Gastric distension was measured by caudal gastric margin (CGM), level with lumbar vertebrae, on a lateral abdominal radiograph. Frequent characteristics of dogs with FE included tachycardia, tachypnoea, hyperproteinaemia, increased base excess (BE), mild hypernatraemia and hyperlactataemia. There was overlap in CGM between dogs with GDV (CGM range L3 to >L6) and dogs with FE (CGM range <L2 to L5–L6). In contrast to dogs with GDV, lactate concentration in dogs with FE was not associated with CGM or BE. Dogs with FE mostly received medical intervention consisting of fluid therapy and analgesia, and all dogs survived to discharge. In conclusion, dogs with FE frequently presented with acid-base and electrolyte derangements, including hyperlactataemia. While dogs with FE can have gastric distension as severe as that seen with GDV, outcome with supportive care only is excellent.

Abstract:
Aim: The present study was conducted to determine the growth, survival, fecundity and mortality rate of Spodoptera frugiperda in maize at elevated temperature. Methodology: Biology and life table experiments were carried out in custom made Open Top Chambers (4m x 4m x 4m size) fitted with SCADA under increasing temperature regimes viz., 32˚C, 33˚C, 34˚C, 35˚C and 36˚C. Each stage of the insects was examined daily and the fertility and life-table parameters were calculated by using TWOSEX-MS chart. Results: The overall developmental time for egg, larva, pupa and adult stages (total lifespan) at different elevated temperatures were in the order of 32˚C > 33˚C > 34˚C > 35˚C > 36˚C. The fecundity rate of S. frugiperda at different elevated temperatures were in the order of 34˚C > 33˚C > 32˚C > 35˚C > 36˚C. Interpretation: The current study confirms that the elevated temperature regimes had a positive correlation with fecundity rate upto 34˚C and negative correlation with the survival rate of S. frugiperda.

Abstract:
This study assessed the weight gain for the short- and long-term (36 mo. follow-up) in a sample of 158 smokers (71 men and 87 women), who participated in a multicomponent behavioral smoking-cessation program. Weight was evaluated with a self-reported questionnaire, with an over-all mean pretreatment weight of 65.3 Kg ( SD = 12.6). All individuals tended to gain weight. Afterwards, the mean for quitters ( n = 42) increased by 2.0 Kg at 36-mo. follow-up and the mean for nonquitters ( n = 116) by 0.6 Kg. Among abstinent people no significant differences were found by sex at 36 mo. but significant mean differences were found in those subjects (quitters) older than 35 yr. who gained 4.1 Kg compared with 1.2 Kg in the group 35 yr. or younger.

Abstract:
Abstract In light of the growing importance of creation in contemporary discussions of the theology of the Hebrew Bible as well as modern ecological concerns, this essay examines the connected passages of Ezek 6; 35:1-36:15. These texts portray Yahweh as concerned with issues of order, land and land ownership, and the pollution of the land. Human idolatry and failure to recognize that the land belongs to Yahweh leads to the pollution of the land and the violation of the creational order. Ezekiel 6; 35:1-36:15 are considered in view of the contemporary malpractices of large agricultural corporations, allowing the text of Ezekiel and the modern world to shed light on one another. In contexts both ancient and modern, Ezekiel speaks against notions of unbridled human dominion over creation and asserts that humans are deeply intertwined with the world around them, in line with Terrance Fretheim’s conception of creation theology.
