AbstractStress corrosion characterization is analyzed in two alloys, 5083 and binary AL-3Li, both having anodic grain boundary precipitates. The 5083 commercial alloy forms AL3Mg2 (β phase), whereas the AL-3Li alloys have ALLi (δ phase). These are intermetallic phases that form on the grain boundaries and grow in size and area fraction with heat treatment time. AbstractStress corrosion characteristics of three alloys, AL-3Li, AL-2Li-3Cu, and 5083, were analyzed. All three alloys have anodic grain boundary (GB) precipitates (ppts) (δ, T1, and β, respectively) that show different corrosion rates with respect to the lattice H diffusion. L’objectif de ce travail de thèse était d’étudier le comportement en fatigue oligocyclique de l’acier Fe-3Si utilisé pour les rotors des nouveaux alterno-démarreurs développés par Valeo. L’étude pris en compte la relation entre la réponse mécanique et la microstructure, les mécanismes de fatigue, l’évaluation de la déformation à une échelle mésoscopique et une optimisation du dimensionnement du rotor. Les essais de fatigue, menés sur des éprouvettes d’épaisseur 350μm, ont montré un durcissement cyclique du matériau et le mode de propagation de la fissure, fragile, souligne sa faible ténacité.

Abstract:
Abstract Slow strain rate tests (SSRT) were conducted on various nickel-base, Titanium-base, and copper-nickel (Cu-Ni) alloys in order to identify a replacement material for Alloy K-500 in seawater fastener applications. SSRT data and fracture surface analysis of the test specimens identified a susceptibility to environmental cracking in cathodically polarized environments for Alloy K-500, Alloy 625 Plus, and Alloy 625PH.
