Abstract:
AbstractChromatographic properties of five steroid drugs: cortisone, hydrocortisone, methylprednisolone, prednisolone and norgestrel have been studied by normal-, reversed-phase and hydrophilic neutral cyano-bonded silica stationary phase with five binary mobile phases (acetonitrile-water, acetonitrile-DMSO, acetonitrile-methanol, acetone-petroleum ether, acetone-water) in which the concentration of organic modifier was varied from 0 to 100% (v/v). This study reports the optimization of steroid hormones separation. Chromatographic retention data and possible retention mechanisms are discussed.

Three refractive index mixing rules, Arago–Biot, Lorentz–Lorenz, and Newton, are generalized to complex refractive index and used to define infrared (IR) spectra of the corresponding ideal liquid mixtures. Using the measured optical constants n and k for acetonitrile-water mixtures (Bertie and Lan, 1997) the excess absorbances, AE = Aobs − Aideal, are calculated. Relying upon the well-established properties of the acetonitrile–water mixtures, the interpretation of the excess absorbances is established that is essentially based on the understanding of a liquid as a set of oscillators. Conductivity of two micellar systems was measured in order to determine critical micelle concentration (CMC) of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). Those systems were: CTin water and CTin binary mixture acetonitrile (ACN)-water. Conductivity (?)-concentration (c) data were treated by four different methods: conventional method, differential methods (first and second derivative) and method of integration (methods A-D, respectively). As CTin water micellar system shows a sharp transition between premicellar and postmicellar part of the ?/c curve, any of the applied methods gives reliable CMC

Abstract In this work we assess and extend strategies for calculating surface tension of complex liquids from molecular dynamics simulations: the mechanical route and the instantaneous liquid interface (ILI) approach. The former employs the connection between stress tensor and surface tension, whereas the latter involves computation of instantaneous density field. Whereas the mechanical route is general, the ILI method involves system-dependent parameters restricting its original application to liquid water only. Here we generalize the approach to complex molecular liquids using atomic van der

Triazine derivatives are well-known commercially available compounds used for selective weed control in different crops, such as corn and sugarcane. Some of them are considered persistent organic compounds in the environment and it is important to improve the features of herbicide formulae, to estimate their physicochemical properties and to determine their retention behavior in modern analytical techniques that can be used in the determination of pesticides in environmental samples. Also, the dependence of k on the liquid-liquid extraction distribution ratio in an aqueous methanol-n-alkane extraction system was investigated for Cu, Co, Ni, Pb, and Hg diethyldithiocarbamates. Pressure change has almost no effect on the location of separatric surfaces. Therefore, extractive distillation should be used to separate solvents mixtures of any composition. In this paper, the retention behavior of thirteen newly synthesized arylidene derivatives of 2-hydamthione was investigated by normal and reversed phases thin-layer chromatography. In normal phase chromatography, thin layers of silica gel and cyano-propyl (CN) silica gel with fluorescent indicator F254 were used as the stationary phase. As the mobile phase, binary systems of non-aqueous solvents benzene-ethyl acetate and hexane-ethyl acetate were used, 8:2 (v/v). Reversed phase chromatography was performed using a thin layer of octadecyl (C-18) silica gel with fluorescent indicator F254 as the
