Abstract:
What does a score on a digital assessment mean? At its core, a score is a measurement of how a student matches up to a predefined construct. For example, a reading assessment may measure the construct of a student’s reading fluency, comprehension, or both. This research seeks to challenge the legitimacy of digital assessment from the lens of Accessibility, User Experience (UX), Inclusive Design, and Marginalized Populations by focusing on the needs of the deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) middle school-aged student in the United States.DHH learners are among the least understood groups. Melad, Kris Ann. Harmonizing Philippine Census Data across Decades (1970–2020). Philippine Institute for Development Studies, 2024. https://doi.org/10.62986/dp2024.44.

Full text
Abstract:
This research harmonizes Philippine Census of Population and Housing (CPH) data from 1970 to 2020 to address data consistency challenges across five decades. The study systematically reconciles evolving variable definitions, classification systems, and measurement scales to create a unified longitudinal dataset. Key harmonization challenges include accommodating changes in the education system, such as the K-12 reforms, tracking modifications to administrative boundaries over the years, managing the expanding data scope across census years, and addressing historical data preservation issues, p

Abstract:
This research studies the issues of intergenerational transfers in general and farm succession in particular in two different institutional environments. One is the relatively unregulated farm sector in the United States, and the other is the heavily regulated family farms in Israeli moshavim. Most of the analysis is based on modern economic theory dealing with inheritance and other intergenerational issues. However, we start with two background studies. One is a review of the legal system affecting farm succession in the moshav, which, as we claim throughout the report, is of major importance

Blyde, Juan S. The Participation of Mexico in Global Supply Chains: The Challenge of Adding Mexican Value. Inter-American Development Bank, 2013. http://dx.doi.org/10.18235/0009142.

Full text
Abstract:
There is a general perception that Mexico's insertion in global supply chains has been mostly in assembly operations and that efforts should be made to incorporate additional domestic value in the international production networks in which the country participates. To examine this issue properly one needs to have a measure of the share of domestic value added that is effectively embodied in Mexico's exports. We analyze firm-level data from the IMMEX census which covers all the firms that benefit from the Maquiladora and the PITEX programs. We find that the share of domestic value added as a pr

Abstract:
We study the allocation of dynamic electric vehicle charging investments from the policymaker’s perspective, which aims to meet statewide emission-reduction targets for the Illinois passenger vehicle sector. We determine statewide charging deployment trajectories over a 30-year planning horizon and estimate their emission reduction. Electric vehicle demand functions model the electrified vehicle market growth and capture network externalities and spatial heterogeneity. Our analysis indicates that most chargers need to be deployed in the first 10 to 15 years of the transition to allow benefits

Abstract:
An ad hoc science panel was convened in Vancouver, Canada from March 4-6, 2025, to address the conservation and recovery of the endangered Southern Resident killer whale (SRKW) population – which, as of the July 2024 census, numbered only 73 individuals. The panel assembled 31 international experts from universities, government agencies, and NGOs across Canada, the United States, and the European Union to assess the efficacy and limitations of existing threat-reduction strategies, and propose new or revised measures. Their expertise covered a range of disciplines, including killer whale biolog
