In order to apply the most accurate and efficient locoregional techniques, the knowledge of the anatomical characteristics of the oro-maxilo-facial territory becomes imperatively necessary, without which the installation and the effect of the locoregional anaesthetics may be poor. Due to the many advantages it presents, locoregional anaesthesia is considered as a current use method during routine dental care. A good local or locoregional anaesthetic must be harmless to the tissues, must have no local or general toxicity, must lead to a high quality and durable anaesthetic, must not cause lesio

Abstract:
Patients undergoing thyroid surgery with retrosternal goitre may raise concerns for the anaesthetist, especially airway management. We reviewed a multicentre prospective thyroid surgery database and extracted data for those patients with retrosternal goitre. Additionally, we reviewed the anaesthetic charts of patients with retrosternal goitre at our institution to identify the anaesthetic induction technique and airway management. Of 4572 patients in the database, 919 (20%) had a retrosternal goitre. Two cases of early postoperative tracheomalacia were reported, one in the retrosternal group.

Ingrown toenail (onychocryptosis) is a common and painful condition often requiring surgical intervention. Adequate local anaesthesia is crucial for patient comfort and surgical success. However, the optimal anaesthetic technique for this procedure remains debated. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate and compare the anaesthetic efficacy, patient comfort, onset and duration of anaesthesia, and occurrence of complications between the V-block and H-block techniques during surgical procedures for ingrown toenail removal. Methods: After ethical approval, an open-label randomised control trial

Background and Objectives: Some of the postoperative complications following orthopaedic surgeries are associated with a systemic inflammatory response (SIR), which varies depending on the anaesthetic technique. We aimed to compare the effects of general and spinal anaesthesia on the SIR after total knee arthroplasty (TKA), based on C-reactive protein (CRP) levels, the platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR). The name Segmental spinal anaesthesia is often widely used synonymously with Thoracic spinal anaesthesia. But in real sense segmental spinal anaesthesia means “blocking of the required dermatomes essential for the proposed surgical procedure with very low effective local anaesthetic drug dose “. This often necessitates dural puncture at high lumber or thoracic levels apart from the conventional spinal. Segmental spinal anaesthesia has been found to be feasible, safe, and effective alternative to conventional general anaesthesia in abdominal and some thoracic surgeries. The objective of this sp

Almost all minor oral surgical procedures can be performed effectively if patient is relaxed and comfortable. One of the contributing factor for patient comfort is effective pain control. This can be achieved pre and per-operatively by various local anaesthetic techniques. Infiltration techniques are commonly employed in all maxillary and mandibular teeth whereas mandibular posterior teeth requires a nerve block. In certain cases, these techniques fails or provide inadequate anaesthesia, for example, teeth associated with periapical pathology. Therefore, we conducted a study to determine effec

The use of opioids can have unpleasant effects, hence opioid-free anaesthesia techniques were developed as a strategy to reduce this risk.
