Abstract A new method is proposed for the determination of phenylephrine hydrochloride by flow injection analysis with direct chemiluminescence detection. The method is based on the oxidation of the drug by potassium permanganate in sulfuric acid medium at 80°C. The calibration graph is linear over the range 0.03–8 ppm phenylephrine hydrochloride, with a relative standard deviation (n = 51, 0.5 ppm) of 1.1% and sample throughput of 134/h. The influence of 38 different foreign compounds was tested, and the method was applied to the determination of phenylephrine hydrochloride in 8 different pha

Abstract:
Steady-state contractile responses elicited by phenylephrine activation of the α1-adrenergic receptor subtype were studied in vascular smooth muscle strips isolated from the corpus cavernosum of impotent men. The dissociation constant of phenylephrine was determined by the method of partial irreversible receptor inactivation over a wide range of α1-adrenergic receptor alkylation levels. Statistical analysis of mean population values revealed a significantly greater mean efficacy for phenylephrine-induced contractions in older patients (60–73 years old) than in younger patients (40–59 years old

BACKGROUND: A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to compare phenylephrine boluses versus prophylactic infusion in parturients undergoing cesarean delivery under spinal or combined spinal-epidural anesthesia on feto-maternal outcomes. METHODS: Medline, Embase, Cochrane, and US Clinical registry databases were searched. Studies comparing phenylephrine boluses (both therapeutic and prophylactic) with infusion (both fixed- and variable-rate) assessing various feto-maternal outcomes were included. Background and Aims: Spinal-induced hypotension in parturients with pre-eclampsia (PE) can lead to adverse perinatal outcomes, making effective prophylaxis and treatment crucial. We aim to compare the prophylactic and therapeutic roles of phenylephrine, ephedrine, and norepinephrine (NE) in treating post-spinal hypotension in PE patients. Methods: We conducted a comprehensive search of various databases up to June 2024, focusing on randomised clinical trials (RCTs). Standardised mean differences (SMDs) were used for continuous outcomes, while odds ratios (ORs) were employed for binary outcomes

Background Hemodynamic responses to vasopressors used during spinal anesthesia for elective Cesarean delivery, have not been well described. This study compared the effects of bolus phenylephrine and ephedrine on maternal cardiac output (CO). The hypothesis was that phenylephrine, but not ephedrine, decreases CO when administered in response to hypotension during spinal anesthesia. Methods Forty-three patients were randomized to receive 80 microg of phenylephrine or 10 mg of ephedrine. Phenylephrine hydrochloride is a sympathomimetic with expressed local vasoconstrictor effect. Its ability to reduce swelling and hyperemia of the nasal mucosa is used in the Simanovsky ointment which is preparing for stock in the pharmacies of Ukraine. For the assay of phenylephrine hydrochloride in many single and multicomponent dosage forms, it is suggested to use a spectrophotometric method. However, in literary sources there are no examples of the use of spectrophotometric method for quantitative determination of phenylephrine hydrochloride in the studied ointment. Aim.&nb

Abstract In this work, a microfluidic-based tactile sensor was investigated for monitoring changes in the cardiovascular (CV) system of a rabbit caused by phenylephrine. The sensor was fixed on the front right leg of an anesthetized rabbit to measure the arterial pulse signal. Phenylephrine, as a vasoconstrictor, was used to introduce CV changes of the rabbit. Two sensors, one with high sensitivity and the other with low sensitivity, were tested on their suitability for measuring the pulse signals of the rabbit. The sensor with low sensitivity generated clear pulse signals and was further used
