Introduction: Blood pressure is one of the most often measured clinical parameters, and assessment of blood pressure has a considerable impact on diagnostic decisions.
Objectives: To establish blood pressure normal reference values in Sudanese.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from September 2016 to November 2018. Eight hundred eighty-eight healthy adult Sudanese between the ages of 18 and 60 (203 men and 685 women) were randomly selected from the states of Khartoum, Northern, Gezira, Red Sea, and North Darfur. ABSTRACT. Despite extensive knowledge about abnormal lipid patterns in patients with end-stage renal disease, the association between cholesterol and the development of renal dysfunction is unclear. We evaluated this association in a prospective cohort study among 4,483 initially healthy men participating in the Physicians’ Health Study who provided blood samples in 1982 and 1996. Main outcome measures were elevated creatinine, defined as ≥1.5 mg/dl (133 μmol/L), and reduced estimated creatinine clearance, defined as ≤55 ml/min. Abstract:
Background Epidemic levels of CKD of undetermined cause, termed Mesoamerican nephropathy in Central America, have been found in low- and middle-income countries. We investigated the natural history of, and factors associated with, loss of kidney function in a population at high risk for this disease. Methods We conducted a 2-year prospective, longitudinal study with follow-up every 6 months in nine rural communities in northwestern Nicaragua and included all men (n=263) and a random sample of women (n=87) ages 18–30 years old without self-reported CKD, diabetes, or hypertension. We used growth

Currently, diagnostic methods for early stages of small fiber neuropathy are limited. Objective. To determine reference values for assessing distal (dorsum of the foot) deep muscle pain pressure thresholds in apparently healthy individuals. Material and methods. Sixty-five apparently healthy individuals aged 18—60 years (42 women and 23 men) were studied. PPT was measured using manual mechanical algometer FDK5 (Wagner Instruments, USA) with semicircular smooth applicator. The testing site was dorsum of the foot approximately 0.5—1 cm below the arcuate artery between metatarsal bones of the 3rd

Abstract:
Body iron excess appears to be related to insulin resistance and cardiometabolic risk and increased oxidative stress might be involved in this relationship. Very few studies have described the association between soluble transferrin receptor (sTfR) levels and cardiometabolic risk in the general population or antioxidant status. There were 239 subjects (20–65 years old) included in this cross-sectional study. Linear regressions adjusting for BMI, menopausal status, insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), physical inactivity, alcohol intake and subclinical/chronic inflammation were used to describe the as
