Clocked storage elements are among the most important elements in the design of digital systems, such as microprocessors, since they allow to synchronize and regulate the entire flow of digital data within the system. With the aim of obtaining conspicuous performance increments at each process generation, dimensional scaling has been supported by the reduction of the number of logic stages within each pipeline stage. Therefore, an increasing impact of the timing overhead due to clocked storage elements on the clock period can be observed. Moreover, the continuous increase in energy consumption

Tracking is frequently performed using multiple sensor platforms, with measurements being relayed to a fusion centre over a wireless network. This can lead to some measurements being delayed when adverse environmental conditions cause packet losses to occur. These delayed measurements are called “out-of-sequence measurements (OOSMs)”. Simply discarding the delayed OOSMs can waste important information and lead to much poorer tracking performance. In this emerging mobile environment with increased data traffic and always-on applications, the limitations of battery technologies lead to drastically shorten recharging cycles of mobile devices. For mobile applications that can tolerate a moderate delay which account for a high proportion of global mobile traffic, a technique that postpones the data transmission to high-rate hotspots could effectively provide significant energy gains, which can be translated to increased battery life

In view of this, an area-power-efficient 11-bit hybrid ADC with delay-line enhanced tuning is presented for neural sensing applications in this thesis. Furthermore, a 16-channel neural recording system with 4 hybrid ADCs is implemented in a 2.5D heterogeneous integration. F

碩士
國立臺灣大學
電子工程學研究所
107
An area efficient DLL-based fractional-N frequency synthesizer with cyclic reuse of a delay cell scheme is designed and implemented in the thesis. Nowadays, CPUs and GPUs adopt a number of frequency synthesizers for individual core in order to provide different frequencies by dynamically adjusting the operation frequency. Along with the progress in process, the cost per unit area keeps increasing. For that reason, the area of frequency synthesizer needs to be shrunk with the same performance. There are two kinds of circuits in the conventional frequency synth

Abstract:
The trend towards personalized ubiquitous computing has led to the advent of a new generation of wireless technologies, namely wireless body area networks (WBANs), which connect the wearable devices into the Internet-of-Things. This thesis considers the problems of relay selection and power control in fading WBANs with energy-efficiency and security considerations. The main body of the thesis is formed by two papers. Ideas from probability theory are used, in the first paper, to construct a performance measure signifying the energy efficiency of transmission, while in the second paper, informa
