Peter of Eboli’s epic poem, the Liber ad honorem Augusti, describes the conquest of the Norman kingdom of Sicily by the Staufen ruler Henry VI in the early 1190s. In praising the conquest, the Liber participates in a panegyric imperial rhetoric, lauding Henry as a bringer of peace.
