We have prepared crystals of [Fe(TTP)(NO)] (TTP = tetratolylporphyrin), a five-coordinate nitrosyl complex and determined its crystal and molecular structure at two temperatures. The crystal structure at 100 K reveals two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit of the structure. One molecule is completely ordered and the second molecule has a moderately disordered nitrosyl ligand. Benzoylformate decarboxylase (BFD) from Pseudomonas putida catalyzed the formation of 2-hydroxy-1-phenylpropanone (2-HPP), a 2-hydroxy ketone, from the kinetic resolution of rac-benzoin in the presence of acetaldehyde. The formation rate of 2-HPP via kinetic resolution of benzoin was 700-fold lower compared to the formation via direct carboligation of benzaldehyde and acetaldehyde. Further investigations revealed that BFD not only accepts (R)-benzoin but also 2-HPP as the substrate. This study uses multivariable smooth transition autoregressive–vector autoregressive (STAR–VAR), a novel model to explore how inflation in advanced economies affects emerging market bond yields. Results reveal two key findings. First, advanced economy inflation has a significant effect on emerging market bond yields. Second, the short-run effect of advanced economy inflation on the bond yields of emerging markets is asymmetric between the expansion and contraction regimes. The effect is mostly positive in both regimes but stronger in a bond yield’s contraction regime.

This study explores the determinants of corporate bond spreads in emerging market economies. Using a largely unexploited dataset, the paper finds that corporate bond spreads are determined by firm-specific variables, bond characteristics, macroeconomic conditions, sovereign risk, and global factors.
