Accordingly, the meaning of a literary text is considered as a mental construct comprised of author’s meaning, readers’ meanings and commentators’ meanings. The present paper aims to reconstruct G. Călinescu’s conception of the biographical genre in general and of biography ‒ as a discursive narrative, in particular. The stage of this conception of the biographical genre are examined in relation to Călinescu’s aesthetic thinking in general, as reflected in his reference works, including "Principles of Aesthetics". Additionally, Călinescu’s models, from whom he adopted certain often antinomic ideas are also discussed. Sainte-Beuve, Gustave Lanson, Hippolyte Taine and Benedetto Croce are some of the figures who shaped the Romanian author’s conceptio

The problem of the balance between society and personality, awareness of ‘individuality’, ‘personality’, as well as ‘publicity’ (publicness) are ranked among the central philosophical issues. There are many interpretations of them. And these matters remain critical in today’s ‘individualised’ society. Based on a philosophic-anthropological approach, and using comparative-historical methods, the authors trace the cultural-historical transformation of the subsistence of an individual in society from Antiquity to the present. An individual is characterised via such conceptions as ‘social type’, ‘

In the political system and in public perception, the well-functioning of economy is frequently equalled to the output of the national economy–that is, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). However, during the last decades, this narrow conception of economic prosperity started to erode. This paper describes the scientific discussion surrounding the topic of “economy” in rural places, with the objective of exploring who is setting the agenda and which themes are prevalent. We examine 102 journal papers published during the last decade and design a methodological frame based on Nvivo10 software whic

This paper is a continuation of investigation into the possibilities of industrial application of the modified exhaustheated gas turbine installation with increased thermal efficiency, described in the ASME-Paper 90-GT-369. According to the author’s conception this turbine installation may be very useful when interacting with some chemical processing installations, e.g. by feeding a coal gasifier with pre-heated compressed air. It would then be a turbine system with an air extraction, performing a double duty. The heat contained in the air extracted from the gas turbine system plus the mechani

Despite the fact that research indicates that it is important to integrate a gender based approach for effective risk assessment and implementation of counter-terrorism (CT) and preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE) practices, such as rehabilitation and reintegration, our assessment of academic and grey literature on gender perspectives in CT and P/CVE practices shows that most of these practices remain gender-blind and tend to reproduce gender norms and stereotypes, while ignoring the complexity of women’s and men’s involvement in extremism.
