Abstract:
New series of 7-chloro-6-fluoro-2-(5-aminooxazol/thiazol-2-aryldenylamino)-benzo (1,3)thiazoles (Schiff’s base)(5a-g, 6a-g) were synthesized from 7-chloro-6-fluoro-2-(5-amino-oxazol/thiazol-2-amino)-benzothiazole (4a-b). Structures of the compounds were verified by 1H-NMR spectra. The synthesized compounds were screened for in vivo analgesic and antiinflammatory activities. A series of N-{2-oxo-2-[4-(1,3-benzothiazol-2-yl)piperazin-1-yl]}-(het)arenecarboxamides 4a - l, sulfonamide derivatives 8a - i as well as benzothiazole-containing N1-(2-oxoethyl)-N1-arylthioureas 9a - c have been synthesized. Compounds 4a - l and 9a were evaluated, in vitro, for their antiproliferative activity against a large panel of human tumor-derived cell lines. The silicotungstic acid catalyzed microwave assisted synthesis of substituted 4H-pyrimido[2,1- b]thiazole and 4H-pyrimido[2,1-b]benzothiazole derivatives was achieved by one-pot multi-component reaction of 2-aminothiazole or 2-aminobenzthiazole, aldehyde and ethyl acetoacetate under solventfree condition. A simple, rapid and environmental friendly protocol, good yields and easy work-up are some advantages of this protocol. The structures of the synthesized compounds were established by FT-IR, 1H NMR and mass spectral data.

Sixteen compounds bearing a benzothiazole moiety were synthesized as potential tyrosinase inhibitors and evaluated for mushroom tyrosinase inhibitory activity. The compound 4-(5-(trifluoromethyl)benzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)benzene-1,3-diol (compound 1b) exhibited the highest tyrosinase activity inhibition, with an IC50 value of 0.2 ± 0.01 μM (a potency 55-fold greater than kojic acid).
