Abstract:
This case study investigates the acquisition of Russian in a language contact situation. It examines a simultaneous Swedish-Russian bilingual child born and raised in Sweden. Qualitative analysis is provided from age 1;4 to 8;5 focusing especially on the earliest stages (before the end of the critical period at 4;5). The aim was to investigate (a) whether the child reaches the same milestones as monolingual children, (b) whether there is evidence that two separate linguistic systems have been developed, (c) whether the child’s grammatical competence in both languages might be qualitatively dif

This thesis investigates the linguistic factors that mediate lexical access in bilinguals. A fundamental question regarding bilingualism is whether the bilingual lexicon has a language-specific organization (having independent or modular memory stores for each known language) or a language-non-specific organization (having an integrated memory store containing all known words in both languages). Previous studies have largely demonstrated that bilinguals simultaneously access representations from both languages during comprehension, thus adhering to the non-selective activation approach. How

This is a qualitative study on bilingualism from Somali children’s perspectives. It aims to examine how Somali-Swedish bilinguals understand their bilingual experiences in a Swedish context. It looks at questions that relate to their views on language use in family and peer group interactions, their attitude towards heritage language maintenance, and challenges they may face in their everyday bilingual experiences. Three interviews were carried out with six children of Somali background between the age of 12-15 years, interviewed in pairs, and the empirical data were subsequently analyzed them

Abstract:

Recognizing the lack of consensus among studies of the letter of James concerning its original situation, this thesis is a study in the circumstances that precipitated the letter of James; it argues that the letter responds in significant measure to the inclination of some pre 70 Diaspora Jews to rebel violently against the Roman Empire. In so doing, it is suggested that the paralleled passages of Jas 1:2-20 and 5:7-11/12 might covertly critique a set of convictions and behaviors of the letter’s audience that configures a “war agenda.” This thesis finds sufficient reasons

Abstract:
In our study, we deal with the experience gained during the Covid-19 pandemic in Slovakia in the replacement of full-time teaching of design in a distance way using non-commercial freely accessible communication and visualization programs. Based on the experience with these programs during the teaching of the studio of "Basics of design" we can say that although full-time teaching has many undeniable advantages, it can be replaced for some time, even a longer time, for example 2 semesters by distance learning, without appreciable losses of any qualitative indicators. Abstract:
The number of African learners who participate and succeed in physical science is recognized to be ‘disturbingly low’. One of the factors attributed to the low levels of enrolment and performance in physical science is language. In this study, teaching and learning through the language of science is examined in the context of the bilingual classroom. A model of analysis is constructed that (1) extends the notion of the language of science to include the mathematical and visual ‘languages’ of science, (2) takes recognition of the manner in which language, content, and values and beliefs constru

Abstract:

The United States is experiencing an increase in young students developing literacy in English and Spanish. Schools providing dual-language English/Spanish instruction need technically adequate tools to assess reading skills in the languages of instruction, and interpretation of results needs to acknowledge the complexity of cross-linguistic learning. Although passage reading fluency in English strongly predicts overall reading proficiency in English in the primary grades and there is some indication that passage reading fluency in Spanish provides equivalent information regarding Spanish
