Abstract:
Recently, many Computational-Intelligence algorithms have been proposed for solving continuous problem. The Differential Search Algorithm (DSA), a computational-intelligence based algorithm inspired by the migration movements of superorganisms, is developed to solve continuous problems. However, DSA proposed for solving problems with continuous search space proposed for solving should be modified for solving binary structured problems. When the DSA is intended for use in binary problems, continuous variables need to be converted into binary format due to solution space structure of this type o

Several attempts were made to assign to a given binary relation a certain binary operation in order to allow an algebraic approach for investigating binary relations. However, the previous attempts by the first two authors were restricted to the case of so-called directed binary relations. In this paper, this restriction is omitted and a general approach is developed. We assign to every binary relation a partial binary operation in such a way that the properties of the relation can be described by properties of the assigned operation. These properties are expressed mostly in terms of existenti

A method for simulating a turbulent binary fluid flow system based on the Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) is presented. The fluid equations up to the Navier-Stokes transport level are derived for this two fluid system, and results from numerical simulations using this method are shown. Abstract This thesis presents extensions to the local binary pattern (LBP) texture analysis operator. The operator is defined as a gray-scale invariant texture measure, derived from a general definition of texture in a local neighborhood. It is made invariant against the rotation of the image domain, and supplemented with a rotation invariant measure of local contrast. The LBP is proposed as a unifying texture model that describes the formation of a texture with micro-textons and their statistical placement rules. The project aims to estimate the size of an elusive target population. The proposed model is developed to extend the Lincoln- Petersen estimator relying on a two-source situation and binary source/listing variables to non-binary source/listing variables. We consider a bivariate count variable where counts are used to summarize how often a unit was identified from source/list 1 and source/list 2. A mixture model is presented to model unobserved population heterogeneity. The classical Fourier transform is, in essence, a way to take data and extract components (in the form of complex exponentials) which are invariant under cyclic shifts. We consider a case in which the components must instead be invariant under automorphisms of a binary tree. We present a technique by which a slightly relaxed form of the generalized Fourier transform in this case can eventually be computed using only simple tools from linear algebra, which has possible advantages in computational efficiency.
