The Pili (Canarium ovatum Engl.) tree, native to the Philippines, has been reported to have medicinal properties because of the biological and chemical properties it exhibits. This paper aimed to investigate the presence of phytochemicals, antioxidant, and anticancer activities of the ethanolic leaf extract of C. ovatum. To determine the phytochemicals, present in the extract, standard procedures for qualitative phytochemical screening were performed. The antioxidant activity of the extract was assessed in vitro using 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging assay. The anti

This study aimed to estimate the potential of pili (Canarium ovatum L.) pomace as substrate for the production of fruit wine. The pili fruit wine was characterized in terms of physico-chemical characteristics (pH, TSS and alcohol content) and consumer acceptability level (appearance, taste, aroma, mouthfeel and overall acceptability). It was produced using 5%, 10% and 15% pili pomace as Treatment 1, 2 and 3, respectively. Results showed increase in alcohol content and TSS with increase in concentration of pili pomace while there is decrease in pH as concentration of pili pomace is increased. I

Abstract:
Canarium ovatum (Pili) Pulp was widely cultivated in the town of Allen, Northern Samar, Philippines. In Allen, Northern Samar produces 60 to 100 kilograms per year every tree. The pili can used in various aspects like oil and soap production, fuel, sweet candies and bread stuffing, and used in traditional medicines for its nutritional benefits. Thus, this study focuses on characterizing the Pili extract using Ultraviolet visible (UV-vis) spectrophotometer. Physical properties were determined in terms of boiling point, color, density, odor, pH, and solubility. Likewise, the nutritional content
