Sensory fibres from dorsal root ganglia (DRG) enter the spinal cord and run within a clearly defined ipsilateral pathway, the dorsal column, which lies in the dorsal funiculus. We have examined the characteristics of this pathway as a defined substrate for dorsal column axons in Rana temporaria tadpoles by rotating the thoracic spinal cord through 180 degrees from dorsal to ventral. Using HRP as a neuronal tracer we establish that many dorsal column axons from the hindlimb locate the ipsilateral or contralateral dorsal column pathway in the rotated cord. Subacute combined degeneration (SCD) of the spinal cord, which is a result of vitamin B12 deficiency, may cause irreversible neurological deficits. The lesion in the spinal cord is typically localized to the posterior and lateral columns, as the name implies. In this paper, we report on two patients with SCD, whose lesions involved the bilateral anterior column as well as the posterior and lateral columns. This report illustrates the importance of awareness of clinical and radiologic variable characteristics of SCD.

Primary malignant sarcomas of the spine are extremely rare. Because of biological heterogeneity, these tumors have variable sensitivity to radiation and chemotherapy. Adequate local control through complete tumor removal is an important therapeutic goal. The balance of these factors makes treatment of primary sarcomas of the spine challenging, and dictates an individual approach to treatment. We report on a 18 years old man with primary E

Review question / Objective: To assess the therapeutic effects of combined TCMF with YHD for AS patients. Condition being studied: Traditional Chinese medicine fumigating (TCMF) and Yang-He decoction (YHD) are widely used for ankylosing spondylitis (AS), whether combined used TCMF and YHD provides superior therapeutic effects for AS remained unclear. Eligibility criteria: (1) Patients: adult patients diagnosed with AS; (2) Treatments: TCMF plus YHD, TCMF, YHD, and WM; (3) Outcomes: the primary endpoint was effective rate, and the secondary endpoints including Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score,

Abstract:
Currently, to evaluate the dynamic characteristics of objects, quite a large number of devices are used in the form of chronographs, which consist of various optical, thermal and laser sensors. Among the problems of these devices, the following can be distinguished: the lack of recording of the received data; the inaccessibility of taking into account the trajectory of the object flying in the sensor area, as well as taking into consideration the trajectory of the object during the approach to the device frame. The signal received from the infrared sensors is recorded in a separate document in

Considering the importance of the transportation network and bridge structures, the associated seismic design philosophy is shifting from the basic collapse prevention objective to maintaining functionality on the community scale in the aftermath of moderate to strong earthquakes (i.e., resiliency). In addition to performance, the associated construction philosophy is also being modernized, with the utilization of accelerated bridge construction (ABC) techniques to reduce impacts of construction work on traffic, society, economy, and on-site safety during construction. Abstract:
Sodium affected soils, along with salt-affected soils, are distributed widely in irrigated areas of the arid and semi-arid region of the world. Some of these soils can and must be reclaimed to meet the increasing demand for food, and existing irrigated lands must be managed to reduce salinization and alkalization associated with deteriorating irrigation water quality. This project was conducted for examining ways to reduce the use of chemical amendments and large quantities of leaching water for reclaiming sodic soils or for preventing soil sodification, We hypothesized that sodicity of calcar

STUDY OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF A NOVEL COLUMN-BEAM-COLUMN PREFABRICATED STEEL FRAME JOINT. The Hong Kong Institute of Steel Construction, 2024. https://doi.org/10.18057/ijasc.2024.20.4.2.

Abstract:
Currently, most research on prefabricated steel frame joints focuses on column-column or beam-column connections. However, there has been a lack of effective research on prefabricated column-beam-column joints with higher construction efficiency. In this paper, we present the construction and installation process and technical characteristics of a novel prefabricated column-beam-column joint (NPJ). Initially, we describe the technical specifications of the NPJ. Following this, we examine the mechanical performance of the NPJ using a validated finite element model and conduct a detailed analysi

As a promising composite structure, gangue concrete filled steel tubular (GCFST) column exhibites favarable characteristics including high strength and economic efficiency. This paper conducted numerical investiagations on structural behavior of a ring-beam connection to GCFST column with concrete beam under cyclic loading. Furthermore, finite element models of column-beam connections were developed using ABAQUS and validated against full-scale experimental tests to identify accuracy of selected modeling approaches. Using these validated models, stress distribution of each component was examin

STUDY ON SEISMIC BEHAVIOR OF TRAPEZOIDAL CORRUGATED STEEL PLATE SHEAR WALL STRUCTURE WITH PEC COLUMN. The Hong Kong Institute of Steel Construction, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.18057/ijasc.2023.19.2.8.

Abstract:
This paper has carried out experimental and numerical research on the hysteretic characteristics of a corrugated steel plate shear wall which has a partially encased composite (PEC) column (PEC-CSPSW). Two single layer PEC-CSPSW cycle tests were conducted. For the sake of simulating the experimental results, the writer made a numerical model and verified it. The capacity of energy dissipation and failure mode of the structure were studied. The results displayed the PEC-CSPSWs had excellent bearing capacity, ductility, and energy dissipation feature, and the bearing capacity declined gradully.

Abstract:
This study assessed the seismic performance and replaceability of steel frame structures incorporating replaceable beam segments. A reduced-beam-section beam-column joint featuring a replaceable energy dissipation beam segment was specifically designed for this purpose. The joint underwent quasi-static analysis subjected to low-cycle reciprocating loading. The study extended to a single-story, single-span plane steel frame, where reduced-beam-section beam-column joints with replaceable energy dissipation beam segments were analyzed for hysteretic and deformation behavior.
