Abstract:
Background: Diabetic foot infection (DFI) is an infection in soft tissue or bone in patient with diabetes mellitus, Citrobacter species are infrequent nosocomial pathogens and cause a range of infections. the aim of the current study we report the isolation of carbapenem genes among Citrobacter species isolated from DFI. Methods: about 111 swabs specimen were collection from patient suspected with DFI during the period of study, determine the antibiotic susceptibility of Citrobacter spp isolates by using Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method to 23 antimicrobial agents according to the CLSI (2021).

Citrobacter braakii can colonize the intestinal tract of humans and animals and occasionally act as opportunistic pathogen. Although isolated from food and the environment, its potential as a foodborne pathogen remains uncertain. Twenty C. braakii isolates were previously collected from salami and soft cheese artisanal productions. In the present study, the potentialities of C. braakii as a food safety hazard were explored by a genomic comparison of C. braakii newly sequenced genomes with publicly available genomes, including those of clinical relevance, and a pathogenicity assessment in Galle

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Citrobacter spp. are gram-negative commensal bacteria that infrequently cause serious nosocomial infections in compromised hosts. They are often resistant to cephalosporins due to overexpression of their chromosomal β-lactamase. During a recent study of multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (MDRE) in solid-organ transplant patients, we found that almost half of patients colonized with MDRE carried one or more cefpodoxime-resistant Citrobacter freundii, Citrobacter braakii, or Citrobacter amalonaticus strains. Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis showed that 36 unique strains of Citrobact

While searching for Escherichia coli O157 in the aquatic environment of Calcutta using an immunodetection procedure, we fortuitously detected five strains of Citrobacter braakii, which cross-reacted with the commercially available O157 polyvalent antiserum. The five C. braakii isolates gave positive results when a sensitive dot-ELISA was performed with E. coli O157 monoclonal antibody. Further, the O157 monoclonal antibody recognized the bands of proteinase K treated whole cells of lipopolysaccharide of all the C. braakii isolates. Citrobacter spp. are opportunistic human pathogens which can cause nosocomial infections, sporadic infections and outbreaks. In order to determine the genetic diversity, in vitro virulence properties and antimicrobial resistance profiles of Citrobacter spp., 128 Citrobacter isolates obtained from human diarrheal patients, foods and environment were assessed by multilocus sequence typing (MLST), antimicrobial susceptibility testing and adhesion and cytotoxicity testing to HEp-2 cells. The 128 Citrobacter isolates were typed into 123 sequence types (STs) of which 101 were novel STs, and these ST

The aim of this study is to determine the types of carbapenemases moving around the city of Maroua with a view to contribute to the development of a control strategy against the enterobacteria that produce them. The investigation carried out on the biological samples showed that 5.97% of the sample contained carbapenem-resistant microorganisms. This includes 2.20% of urine samples, 0.94% of osteitis samples, 0.63% of wound pus samples, 1.26% of stool samples and 0.94% of blood samples.
