In reconstructive surgery there is increasing demand for cartilage transplants to fill defects, especially nose and/or outer ear defects. Tissue engineering is one of the most modern pathways to generate autologous cartilage transplants. Isolated chondrocytes obtained from a tiny patient's biopsy were seeded on bioresorbable preshaped cell carriers to provide a 3-dimensional cell arrangement as in vivo. The combined use of these cell carriers in form of a non-woven mesh and a constant medium perfusion was performed to generate a cartilage-like cell-polymer-construct, which was finally subcutan

Patients with skin and soft tissue defects are very common. Mild trauma often causes mild skin damage, while severe injuries are often accompanied by bone and tendon exposure, which brings great pain to patients. For the defect of skin and soft tissue, the traditional treatment methods are mostly medium or full-thickness skin or skin flap transplantation. These methods are effective in wound repair, but there are still many problems. In recent years, with the improvement of tissue engineering technology, the use of artificial skin to repair various skin wounds is gradually becoming clinical, a

To understand the effects of culture parameters on telomerase activity and cell lifespan is of critical importance to improve T-cell expansion. Abstract A decrease of inhibitor concentration in a medium is always desirable even if the inhibitor is not toxic. In this connection, a sharp increase in the protective effect of certain corrosion inhibitors when cathodic polarization was applied to the metal is reviewed. The importance of a simultaneous account of the chemical structure of inhibitor and the nature of the metal corrosion under cathodic polarization is outlined. Some examples of applying this combined protection of metals are discussed.

Abstract:
Abstract Corrosion occurs in oil and gas gathering lines containing high H2S and/or CO2. In the presence of scale and bacteria, corrosion can be aggravated. A combined corrosion inhibitor (CCI-2) was developed, which provides corrosion/scale inhibition and mitigates microbially induced corrosion (MIC). A scale inhibitor with great performance and tolerance to high calcium cation concentration was incorporated in CCI-2. Autoclave tests were conducted using a synthetic brine of medium total dissolved solids with a gas phase of 520 kPa (75 psi) H2S, 350 kPa (50 psi) CO2, and 735 kPa(105 psi) N2.

Review question / Objective: POEMS syndrome is a rare monoclonal plasma cell proliferation disorder. At present, there is no unified treatment for POEMS syndrome. Here, we describe one case with POEMS syndrome. And we made a metaanalysis to assess the efficacy of treatment strategies in recent ten years. Search strategy: We searched relevant articles in PubMed, Embase and MEDLINE database for the period up to July 2021.The search strategy included the keywords: POEMS, Therapy, Drug Therapy, Biological Therapy, Combined Modality Therapy, Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, Immunotherapy,

This paper compares inflation expectations from surveys and markets across different horizons for Mexico, between 2000 and 2024. The analysis evalues descriptive statistics, bias, efficiency, discrepancy, convergence level, and response to inflation surprises. The results suggest that both expectations are generally biased, with exception of short-term market expectations. The two types of expectations are inefficient as they include past forecast errors and do not seem to incorporate all available information. The discrepancy between the two types of expectations is negatively related to the

This paper presents the evaluation of the Enterprise Restructuring Support Program in Argentina. The aim of the program was to increase the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises by cofinancing technical assistance that can be classified as either support for process innovation or support for product innovation. Although these types of programs do not primarily aim to create jobs, they are implemented assuming that they do, or at least that they do not destroy jobs. This paper tests this assumption. It compares the impact of each type of support on employment and the type of emp

Abstract:
For decades, the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland (FRBC) has produced median and trimmed-mean consumer price index (CPI) measures. These have proven useful in various contexts, such as forecasting and understanding post-COVID inflation dynamics. Revisions to the FRBC methodology have historically involved increasing the level of disaggregation in the CPI components, which has improved accuracy. Thus, it may seem logical that further disaggregation would continue to enhance its accuracy. However, we theoretically demonstrate that this may not necessarily be the case. We then explore the empiri

Tax registration drives have become an increasingly popular intervention to expand the coverage of tax nets across sub-Saharan Africa. However, doubts have recently been casted on their impact, as there is increasing evidence that they do not lead to a substantial increase in revenue, and might skew the tax registry so that towards vulnerable groups are overrepresented. There is little explanation available for these outcomes, as the literature focuses on the outcomes of these exercises – rather than on their processes and premises. We seek to fill this gap through an evaluation of a tax regis
