Abstract:
Matched filter detectors are used to detect known signal waveforms transmitted under noisy conditions. Moving-average matched filters (MAMF's) are a class of digital filters whose performance is measured in terms of Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). The overall performance of a MAMF is described by the SNR Improvement (SNRI) which is the ratio of Output SNR (OSNR) to Input SNR (ISNR). The OSNR and ISNR are the SNR at the output and input of the MAMF respectively. SNRI is maximized by maximizing OSNR since ISNR is fixed for a received signal and noise. The OSNR of a MAMF is a function of the noise a

Abstract:
Globalization has helped to increase the movement of people between countries and has also affected organizations through increased international operations. This mean that companies are also significantly more heterogeneous internally than they have been in previous years with more people from different cultures working together. Sweden is one of the countries where this has become increasingly common in connection with more people coming to the country as refugees and workers with visas. In organizations this means that more demands are put on the leadership to handle cultural differences in

This thesis consists of an introduction and five parts dealing with digital communication. Three parts address Discrete Multi-Tone modulation (DMT), a wireline form of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). One part addresses channel estimation in wireless OFDM and one addresses multiuser detection in wireless Direct Sequence-Code Division Multiple Access (DS- CDMA).The first part presents a new duplex method, called Zipper, for Very High bit rate Digital Subscriber Lines (VDSL). It is a duplex method that offer high flexibility and compatibility with existing services in the acces

Abstract:
This thesis uses a systematic understanding of sustainability informed by human needs, learning and design theory to explore ways in which small retail environments can effectively communicate sustainability concepts. The envisioned outcome of successfully communicating and implementing sustainability within retail environments is a lasting change in people’s daily behaviors. The methods of literature review, surveys, human needs investigation and professional validation are used to develop a behavioral change model centered on human needs and learning as well as six communication guidelines.

The purpose of this project was to produce signal relay stations that could receive information via 2.4 GHz radio and relay the information to a designated target station. If a relay station was located outside of signal range for the target station it was supposed to utilize other relay stations to transfer the information to the target station, so called multi-hop. The would-be application of the relay stations was orienteering. When an orienteer punches a checkpoint the signal stations would relay information of who punched the control, when it was punched and the checkpoint that was punche

Abstract:
I began this thesis with an interest in sustainability and how to design communication to educate people on the concept. I didn’t know much about the topic but my interest was sparked initially by both the documentary “Food Inc.” and by Michael Pollen’s book, “Omnivore’s Dilemma”. I was also influenced by the literature review on sustainability that brought home the reality of how unsustainably we live in the modern world. It seemed natural to look into food and the agricultural system in order to explore sustainability further. This arose partially from a personal interest in food and partial

Given the severe environmental problems we are facing, it is crucial to communicate environmental knowledge to society in order to facilitate a trajectory towards sustainability. Therefore, the aim of this study is to explore how departments at Swedish universities, whose research revolves around environmental topics, communicate their research. At four departments at two universities, I examine based on semi-structured interviews (I) with whom and in what ways these departments communicate their research, (II) what the motivations are to do so, and (III) if there are challenges in communicati

Abstract:
This study examined the effects of entrepreneurship level and legal regulatory environment on environmental scanning in one component of the health services industry, private practice physical therapy. Two aspects of scanning served as dependent variables: (1) extent to which firms scrutinized six environmental sectors (competitor, customer, technological, regulatory, economic, social-political) and (2) frequency of information source use (human vs. written). Availability of information was a covariate for frequency of source use. Three levels of entrepreneurship were determined by scores on t
