Abstract:
Constructive conflict resolution programmes are based on the idea that children and youth do no have sufficient knowledge of the procedures and skills for conflict resolution, which is why the conflicts they take part in soon become destructive. Notwithstanding the indubitable practical significance of the constructive conflict resolution programmes, it can be objected that they are not sufficiently based on empirical findings about the characteristics of conflicts in childhood and adolescence. In this article, the authors examine the relationship between organizational strategy and the approach taken to conflict management using a large-scale survey of companies in Wales, a constituent part of the United Kingdom. They focus on conflicts among employees, an under-researched form of conflict, to examine which types of organizations adopt a more strategic approach to conflict management that aligns with broader HR objectives. They find that organizations with a unitarist, and often anti-union, orientation are more likely to make strategic choices about how they address conflict. Equall

Theoretical procedures are developed to account for the effect of emotion and perception in strategic conflict. The possibility principle facilitates modeling the effects of emotions on future scenarios contemplated by decision makers; perceptual graph models and a graph model system permit the decision makers (DMs) to experience and view the conflict independently; and perceptual stability analysis, which is based on individual- and meta-stability analysis techniques, is employed in analyzing graph model systems when the DMs have inconsistent perceptions.

The study aims to discover the strategies and techniques used by community mediators in the People's Republic of China. Previous research argues that mediator legitimacy in China draws on state authorization and the mediator's community standing. In contrast to Western conceptions of the mediator's role as a neutral facilitator of dispute resolution, research suggests that Chinese mediators openly speak on behalf of community norms, calling on disputants to subordinate personal preferences in the interest of maintaining harmonious relationships and governmental policies and legal regulations.

How do states win wars against other states? We have three explanations. By selection, states enter more winnable wars. By warfighting, states use negative inducements so enemies fear fighting. By peacemaking, states use positive inducements so enemies hope for settling. This dissertation investigates peacemaking. It theorizes that states optimally produce influence only if they efficiently combine warfighting negative and peacemaking positive inducements.
