Abstract:
This paper adopts a Labeling approach to the analysis of the double object construction (DOC). In conformity with Chomsky’s (2013, 2014, 2015) Labeling Algorithm (LA), a unified account is proposed of the derivation of DOC in Mandarin Chinese. It is argued that the pair-Merged element in a complex verb in the DOC is invisible for labeling and the normal labeling procedure for the Head will apply.

Background/aims In comparison with commercial drugs, there are few regulations concerning the labeling of investigational drugs. This leads to variability in their content and layout. This increases the risk of errors during storage, validation, compounding, dispensing and administration. The aim of this study was to evaluate the conformity and variability of investigational drug labels. Additional exploratory aims were to evaluate the use of an automated script to describe the labels and to identify the factors associated with the ease of finding a kit number. Two curricular approaches for modifying nonhandicapped high school students' attitudes toward their exceptional peers were compared. One curriculum was structured around categories of exceptionality (e.g., mental retardation, sensory impairments) while the other focused on generic concepts, including values, conformity, individual differences, and labeling effects. Each curriculum was presented over a 10-week period and the effects assessed via two pencil-paper attitude evaluation scales. Results revealed that both curricula positively modified students' attitudes, with subjects exposed to the

Using an inductive qualitative approach, this study examined natural Black hair bias in the workplace. An analysis of 274 comments posted to online discussion boards revealed that some Black women are embracing natural hairstyles, but many feel pressured to conform to Eurocentric hairstyles and some have experienced negative consequences stemming from their natural hairstyle choices. Within the comments, three major themes, namely,(1) hair bias, (2) identity (including self-concept and identity transition), and (3) conformity, as well as five minor themes, were identified. The goal of positive-unlabeled (PU) learning is to train a binary classifier on the basis of training data containing positive and unlabeled instances, where unlabeled observations can belong either to the positive class or to the negative class. Modeling PU data requires certain assumptions on the labeling mechanism that describes which positive observations are assigned a label. The simplest assumption, considered in early works, is SCAR (Selected Completely at Random Assumption), according to which the propensity score function, defined as the probability of assigning a label to a positive
