This study investigates the effect of formative exams and communicative grammar teaching strategies on the students’ oral response-ability. This research had a 2x2 factorial experimental design where 80 third-year university students were assigned using multistage cluster probability random sampling. The data were analyzed using a two-way covariance analysis (ANCOVA) to test the research hypotheses. The study outcomes demonstrated that students taught with constructive formative tests had higher achievement than those receiving the selective formative examination. The result indicated that ded

Abstract:
This report describes the design, construction, and shaking table response and computation simulation of a Low Seismic-Damage Bridge Bent built using Accelerated Bridge Construction methods. The proposed bent combines precast post-tensioned columns with precast foundation and bent cap to simplify off- and on-site construction burdens and minimize earthquake-induced damage and associated repair costs. Each column consists of reinforced concrete cast inside a cylindrical steel shell, which acts as the formwork, and the confining and shear reinforcement. The column steel shell is engineered to fa

Abstract:
The southern Ontario bedrock model is a valuable resource for researchers and practitioners, but its application is subject to uncertainty. To address this issue a semi-quantitative approach to visualize the relative effects of data sparsity for each layer, identify regions where a lack of data support reduces model confidence, and quantify potential errors in data collection and model construction is presented. This analysis summarizes several sources of error, including cartesian position error, error in the vertical position of the formation contact, error between the modelled topographic s

Abstract:
The article analyzes the main stages of software engineering (SE) development. Based on the analysis of materials from the first SE conferences (1968-1969), it was determined how the software crisis prompted scientists and practitioners to join forces to form an engineering approach to programming. Differences in professional training for SE are identified. The fundamental components of the training of future software engineers are highlighted. The evolution of approaches to the design, implementation, testing and documentation of software is considered. The system scientific, technological ap

Abstract:
Drawing on a case study of recent reforms in the Dominican Republic, this technical note derives lessons about strategies to professionalize the civil service. As in other countries with less professionalized civil services, the Dominican Republic's political economy is biased against reform: promises of public employment tend to be important to successful electoral mobilization. Nonetheless, passage of a new public service law and its partial implementation were achieved. The case study finds that the construction of a broad societal coalition demanding reform may account for this puzzle. For
