Many disorders are associated with regional brain volumes. The analysis of these volumes from MR images often requires sequential processing steps such as localization and delineation. It is common to perform volumetric normalization using intracranial volume (ICV, the total volume inside the cranial cavity) when comparing regional brain volumes, since head size varies considerably between individuals. Multiple methods for estimating ICV and procedures for volume normalization exist. A method for interhemispheric surface localization and extraction, using both intensity and symmetry informatio

In cultured cells, the adaptor protein SH3PXD2B is capable of recruiting a variety of proteins involved in invadosome assembly and function. It is therefore considered as an essential organizer of invadosomes active in cellular responses that require extracellular matrix degradation. Despite increasing knowledge about its properties and functions at the molecular and cellular levels, its physiological role in whole animals has not previously been assessed. Here, we present that SH3PXD2B is essential for normal postnatal development and disrupting SH3PXD2B can lead to glaucoma. Our work on SH3P

Although the prefrontal cortex (PFC) is known to play roles in episodic memory retrieval, the specific processes it supports are not fully understood. The high temporal resolution of the event-related potential (ERP) technique provides one fruitful avenue for investigations of these processes. However, the PFC-supported retrieval operations that may be indexed by ERPs are currently under-specified. The work contained in this thesis is concerned with providing a more specific characterisation of PFC-supported processes that operate during episodic retrieval than is available currently. To this
