Never before in history has the amount of international trade been higher or more efficient than it is today. The fastest growing type of trade is the speculative currency trading, searching for instant profit based only on the anticipation of the variations in currency exchange rates. When currency speculation becomes an influential part of the capital flows it becomes harmful and creates instability of currency systems. In this thesis I compare the work of Ronald Dworkin and John Rawls within the context of the 'equality of what?' debate. I argue that the Rawlsian paradigm offers a much more flexible defence of a resourcist approach to egalitarianism than Dworkin's theoI)' of' equality of resources'. I argue that Dworkin's fundamental distinction between persons and circumstances is flawed because it involves commitment to a view of the person which belongs in the realm of' comprehensive moral doctrines', rather than in the realm of a political theory of justice. The narrative has changed. It is no longer 'Africa is rising' but 'Africa has risen'. Africa's economic potential is being sung from all corners of the world. One would think that the continent would undergo another 'scramble for Africa' following on from this economic boom. However, it is also clear that all this growth and foreign investment into African development cannot be embraced in the absence of proper commercial institutional structures and policy guidelines in the areas of corporate governance. While these structures may already exist to some degree, the areas of greatest concern ar

Abstract:
The African lion is in danger of rapid population decline and possible extinction in the near future. Two decades ago there was an abundance of African lions, roughly 100 000, on the continent. But at present there are less than 32 000, some even believe there to be as little as 15 000, left. This decline is mainly due to threats arising from habitat loss, retaliatory and traditional killing, the trophy hunting industry and trade related issues. Consequently, African lions are listed as 'vulnerable' on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List of Threatened Species. This list

Abstract:
The thesis deals with approaches to the study of culture and law in the context of the problem of marital rape in China. On the basis of the empirical research, serious legal inconsistency can be found: while the legislation has actually criminalized marital rape, most judges decriminalize marital rape actions. I argue that the problems are related to the misunderstanding of the concept of culture and culture’s relationship with law, which is in turn related to the current approach to culture and law studies. I suggest methodological improvements here which better help in looking at problems a
