This research investigates the complex relationship between roadway design and operating speeds and how drivers respond to these roadway design characteristics. It seeks to understand the effects of road geometry within a complex urban road environment on driver speed selection by conducting an advanced driving simulator experiment and an observational study completed in an Australian town. L'application est la segmentation des tracés manuscrits par une succession de primitives géométriques. Pour l'ajustement, nous décrivons les différentes courbes par des équations cartésiennes. Ces équations sont soumises à une contrainte de normalisation de manière à obtenir une estimation précise et robuste des paramètres des primitives géométriques. The most common methods for simplifying force-directed graphs are edge-bundling and edge routing. Both of these methods can be done with curved, rather than straight, lines which some researchers have argued. Curved lines have been offered as a solution for clarifying edge resolution. Curved lines were originally thought to be more aesthetically pleasing. 32 computer science students were surveyed and asked questions about straight and curved line graphs. Research conducted by Xu et al. and this study suggests that curved lines make a graph more difficult to understand and slower to read.

Abstract:

This thesis is an investigation of the moduli spaces of instanton bundles on the Fano threefold Y_5 (a linear section of Gr(2,5)). It contains new proofs of classical facts about lines, conics and cubics on Y_5, and about linear sections of Y_5. The main original results are a Grauert-Mülich theorem for the splitting type of instantons on conics, a bound to the splitting type of instantons on lines and an SL_2-equivariant description of the moduli space in charge 2 and 3. Using these results we prove the existence of a unique SL_2-equivariant instanton of minimal charge and we show that
