Abstract:
The interaction between water waves and a floating or fixed body is bi-directional: wave forces act on and cause motion in the body, and the body alters the wave field. The impact of the body on its wave field is important to understand because: 1) it may have positive or negative consequences on the natural or built environment; 2) multiple bodies in proximity interact via the waves that are scattered and radiated by them; and 3) in ocean wave energy conversion, by conservation of energy, as a device absorbs energy, so too must the energy be removed from the wave field. Herein, the cylindrica

Abstract:
Many-body quantum dynamics is a challenging problem that has induced the development of many different computational techniques. One powerful technique is the multiconfiguration time-dependent Hartree-Fock (MCTDHF) method. This method allows proper consideration of electronic correlation with much less computational overhead compared to other similar methods. In this work, we present our implementation of the MCTDHF method on a non-uniform cylindrical grid. With the one-body limit of our code, we studied the controversial topic of tunneling delay, and showed that our results agree with one rec

Abstract:
The principal objective of this study is to investigate, develop and verify a framework for determining the convective heat transfer co-efficient from a cylindrical model that can easily be adaptable to more complex geometry - more specifically the human body geometry. Analysis of the model under forced convection airflow conditions between the transition velocity of about 1m/s - calculated using the Reynolds number - up until 12m/s were carried out. The boundary condition, however, also included differences in turbulence intensities and cylinder orientation with respect to wind flow (seen as

The diploma thesis is focused on the production of body for cylinder locks. This is production of very small and accurate parts. In the first part there is described the function of the lock, the sort of cylinder locks, their components and the basic types of safety elements. The second part is focused on the production of given type of body. The thesis deals with either existing production technology or proposals of possible innovation. This firstly consists in new organization of manufacturing operations. At the close we can find comparison of existing technology and new proposal.

<p>Within the phase space of the planar circular restricted three-body problem, stable and unstable manifolds of periodic orbits with a S x R (cylindrical) geometry are shown to exist. The periodic orbits considered reside in bottleneck regions of the energy manifold, separating large zones associated with motion about one mass, the other mass, or both masses.</p> <p>The cylinders have the physical property that all motion through the bottleneck in which the periodic orbit resides must occur through the interior of these surfaces. The cylinders thus mediate the global transport of test par

Abstract:
The human body has antenna characteristics that are not explored in detail to explain some phenomena involving the interaction of electromagnetic fields and the human body. Moreover, the characterization of the human body as antenna unlocks new applications in body area networks for low-power wireless communications by utilizing the human body itself as an antenna. This thesis presents a new theory for explaining the antenna characteristics of the human body in transmission and reception mode. In this thesis I present three separate studies on three different topics in General Relativity. The first study investigates the accuracy with which the mass and angular momentum of a black hole can be determined by measurements of gravitational waves from the hole, using a laser-interferometer gravitational-wave detector. The black hole is assumed to have been strongly perturbed, perhaps by coalescence with a binary companion, and the detector measures the waves produced by its resulting vibration and ring-down. The uncertainties in the measured mass and angular momentum arise from the un
