Abstract:
The severity of take-all, caused by Gaeumannomyces graminis var. tritici, was measured with lime, rotation and flutriafol treatments in a long-term field experiment. The incidence of eyespot lesions caused by Pseudocercosporella herpotrichoides was also measured. Flutriafol reduced the number of plants with deadheads or no heads and resulted in 12-60% more grain yield. However flutriafol had no effect on the number of plants with eyespot lesions. The number of plants with deadheads or no heads was highest (50-53%) on the wheat which was a third consecutive crop and on soil which had been amend

The single and combined effects of barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) and the take-all fungus, Gaeumannomyces graminis var. tritici (Ggt) on wheat, cv. Condor, were determined in field and glasshouse trials. Before and after tillering, aphids with BYDV were fed on plants growing in soil with different proportions of dead and live inoculum of Ggt. Each pathogen reduced grain yield and increased the number of deadheads. In a number of cases, especially in the field, the combined effect of BYDV and Ggt was greater than a simple additive effect of either pathogen alone. Grain yield per plot and grai

The complexity of transportation services expands to a service-oriented transportation framework. Generally, transportation vehicles often return as deadheads after they complete their linehauls, utilizing only 50 % of the transportation capacity. Backhaul is a strategy used by freight forwarders that offers shipping to different customers while increasing profits on return trips. Through the dispatching of joint service platform, this study can use GPS and portable mobile devices, geographic information systems, and on-board unit. Abstract The sugarcane borer, Diatraea saccharalis (F.) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae), is the primary pest of sugarcane, Saccharum spp., in Louisiana. Spring populations are not considered economically damaging, but quantifying infestations can provide an indication of the spatial and temporal character of the damaging summer populations. Statewide surveys quantified the density of sugarcane tillers killed by D. saccharalis (deadhearts) from sugarcane fields across the state in spring from 2003 to 2020. Deadheart density varied greatly among years with a high of 1,318/ha in 2003 to a low of 0/ha in

The Grateful Dead are one of the most studied musical groups of the 20th century. Though the band as an entity ceased to exist in 1995, various spin-off groups from surviving members continue to tour and play the band's music. Furthermore, numerous other events continue to use the Grateful Dead name and legacy to gain attention and attract visitors. Despite the fact the band and its fans—the Deadheads—have been explored by researchers in a variety of academic fields and disciplines, there are relatively few studies that directly investigate the tourism and events aspects of group, particularly

The purpose of this study is to explore the concept of subculture and its meanings in todayâ s discourse. I will also examine the post-subculture concept of neo-tribe and the differences between the two concepts. It is also my intention to show how subcultural groups undergo crises of authenticity in membership. By analyzing the Deadheads, the group of loyal fans surrounding the band the Grateful Dead, as a case study I will explore several factors contributing to a crisis of authenticity in membership within the subculture: the internet, the death of Jerry Garcia, and commercialization.

Frank Weyher<br>Deadheads (fans of the Grateful Dead) created a durable culture that has lasted for over 50 years despite the death of several band members and the break-up of the band in 1995. What mechanisms account for the rise and persistence of this culture? This empirical question informs a theoretical question: what mechanisms are responsible for social cohesion? Social cohesion has been widely studied in sociology, but because these studies range from sovereign states to interpersonal interaction, the

Abstract SAGD ESPs run at the highest motor temperatures current technology allows. However, they cool very rapidly when shutdown. High cooling rates promote motor oil volumetric contraction, eventually leading to wellbore fluid ingress and short-circuited motors. The Paper presents successful field tests designed to decrease ESP cooling rates by inducing controlled deadheads, rather than shutting down ESPs. Various extended deadhead field trials (up to 70+ days duration) validated the approach, while confirming that no deadhead related ESP damage was induced. ESP temperature changes were meas

Abstract In a recent investigation of external fuel leaks from an aerospace pressure control valve, cavitation damages were discovered in a small deadheaded cavity, which was created by the axial clearance between the mating subcomponents. Experiments using high bandwidth pressure sensors showed that there were severe pressure fluctuations in the cavity and that the pressure repeatedly fell below the local vapor pressure of the fuel, which would cause cavitation. Spectral analyses showed resonance-like amplification of flow ripple in the valve surrounding inside the valve cavity. The apparent
