Thermodynamic metric usually works only for those black holes with more than one conserved charge, thereby excluding the Schwarzschild black hole. In this paper, however, different versions of thermodynamic metric are computed and compared for the Schwarzschild-like black hole by introducing new degrees of freedom. These new degrees of freedom have two purposes. First, the deformed metric may be treated offshell to the ordinary Schwarzschild black hole, and onshell physics corresponds to the submanifold by gauge fixing of this additional degree of freedom. Abstract:
Bio-based as well as biodegradable polymers are increasingly finding their way into applications such as food packaging. Here, certain biopolymers with a high degree of crystallinity may be of interest due to their superior barrier properties. Conversely, forming processes including high deformations often require an almost amorphous material state to avoid the brittle behavior associated with crystal structures. For some of those biopolymers, the narrow window in which they can be processed has delayed their potential use for packaging applications. In rigid packaging, two-step processes are

ANALYSIS OF THE DYNAMIC MECHANISM OF SQUARE TUBULAR T-JOINTS WITH CHORD FLANGES SUBJECTED TO IMPACT LOADING. The Hong Kong Institute of Steel Construction, 2024. http://dx.doi.org/10.18057/ijasc.2024.20.1.3.

Full text
Abstract:
This study examines the dynamic mechanical properties of square tubular T-joints with impact loads acting on the chord surface in the joint area. The study first verified the failure modes and behaviors of the specimens under a brace axial force and impact, respectively, where the simulation results demonstrated good agreement with the experimental results. A total of 138 square hollow section tubular T-joint finite element models were divided into T1, T2, and T3 groups based on different tube diameter ratios. The failure modes, displacement-time history curves, and impact force-time history c

THE SEISMIC PERFORMANCE OF DOUBLE TUBE BUCKLING RESTRAINED BRACE WITH CAST STEEL CONNECTORS. The Hong Kong Institute of Steel Construction, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.18057/ijasc.2022.18.1.2.

Abstract:
The special concentrically braced frame (SCBF) is an aseismic structure, but its bracing system exhibits brittle failure and premature buckling connected with the weld fracture of the gusset plate and the post-buckling of the braces; thus, maximizing the role of energy dissipation is difficult. Here, this paper proposes a system of double-tube buckling-restrained brace with cast steel connectors for steel SCBFs. The large inelastic deformation of the bracing system is mainly concentrated in the ductile cast connectors under the earthquake, and the degree of buckling and post-buckling of braces
