Eco-translatology is a reasonably new translation approach proposed by Hu in 2020. Not only implemented in translation analysis, but some studies have also suggested the optimistic claims of using eco-translatology as an approach for classroom teaching. Eco-translatology is known for its three dimensions: linguistics, cultural and communicative. Newmark (1988) mentioned that the more specific a language becomes for natural phenomena, the more embedded in cultural features it becomes. These cultural words words are easy to detect since they are primarily associated with a particular language th

Eco-Translatology, a new eco-translation paradigm, is put forward by Chinese Professor Gengshen Hu and has been gaining popularity in recent years. Guided by the eco-translatology theory, the study analyzes the adaptive strategies that translators used in the English subtitle of Lost in Russia from the following dimensions: language, culture and communication. And the analysis sheds some light on subtitle translation and helps subtitle translators better apply eco-translatology to produce a well-received English version.

Translator’s subjectivity emphasizes the subjective initiative of translators in the process of translation. Eco translatology, a new translation theory brought forth by Hu Gengshen, assumes that translators should be placed at the central position during translation practice since translation is actually the cyclic
