Abstract:
The success of The Jacksonville Commitment Scholars Program is well documented. These scholars are retained at a much higher rate and the six year graduation rate of the first two cohorts was higher than the general body. They are all students whose families have minimal financial resources and were eligible for the free or reduced lunch program during their high school years. They were subsequently eligible for the Pell Grant upon college entry demonstrating significant financial need. Many of these students were first-generation students. They have been successful but the specifics of how th

The connection between educational technology and critical pedagogy has not been greatly explored. This yearlong research study was conducted with pre-service teachers as they progressed through a teacher licensure program. Data collection included the use of focus groups, individual interviews and participant journals. In addition, this study explored the personal and technology identity of the participants. The results led to a greater understanding of how pre-service teachers view the connection between educational technology and critical pedagogy.<br>10000-01-01

As distance learning opportunities foster a wide array for online mentoring, program administrators are in need of research supporting the successful development and management of such efforts. Abstract:
The academic success of students depends, among several factors, on the school's learning environment and the teacher's classroom management skills. In recent years creative solutions to curb poor behavior by establishing proper class discipline have come to the forefront of the teaching profession. With that in mind, the present research topic was chosen to foster appropriate student conduct in establishing and sustaining a productive learning environment through the use of the Positive Behavior Support model. This teacher-as-researcher study took place over a one-year period (2010-2011) i

This mixed-method study explored how students in a doctoral educational leadership cohort at one university used the cohort structure as a learning community or as a method of social support. Survey data were collected from 45 past and present cohort students and qualitative data were collected from three focus groups of 15 participants total.
