Various aspects of chemical effects on X-ray spectra such as energy shift, emission probability change, satellite formation and peak profile change are reviewed in recent studies. Applicability of the chemical effect to analysis of practical samples is also discussed. Though the emphasis is laid on PIXE, other X-ray production techniques are also taken into consideration because new trends of X-ray production and measurement are growing.

Abstract The traditional method of cloning formation is used to study the radiation effect of nuclear physics rays on hepatoma cells, and the results obtained are not reliable. Therefore, a new method of studying the radiation effect of nuclear physics rays on hepatoma cells is proposed. PCC method is used to study the radiation effect of γ-rays on hepatoma cells. Radiation effects of X-rays on hepatoma cells were studied by radionuclide formation assay, neutral comet electrophoresis and γH2AX focal detection. Abstract Radionuclide irradiators (137Cs and 60Co) are commonly used in preclinical studies ranging from cancer therapy to stem cell biology. Amidst concerns of radiological terrorism, there are institutional initiatives to replace radionuclide sources with lower energy X-ray sources. As researchers transition, questions remain regarding whether the biological effects of γ-rays may be recapitulated with orthovoltage X-rays because different energies may induce divergent biological effects. We therefore sought to compare the effects of orthovoltage X-rays with 1-mm Cu or Thoraeus filtration and

Abstract Radiation-induced bone loss is a potential health concern for cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. Enhanced bone resorption by osteoclasts and decreased bone formation by osteoblasts were thought to be the main reasons. X-rays decreased cell viability to a greater degree in RAW264.7 cells and in differentiating cells than than in osteoblastic MC3T3-E1 cells. In this research, optoelectronic devices consisted of an infrared light emitting diode and a phototransistor with no special handling or third party-packaging were irradiated to ionizing radiation utilizing x-rays. It was found that the devices under test (DUTs) undergo performance degradation in their functional parameters during exposure to x-rays. These damaging effects are depending on their current drives and also the Total Ionizing Dose (TID) absorbed. The TID effects by x-rays are cumulative and gradually take place throughout the lifecycle of the devices exposed to radiation.
