This article jointly examines the differences of laboratory versions of the Dutch clock open auction, a sealed-bid auction to represent book building, and a two-stage sealed bid auction to proxy for the “competitive IPO”, a recent innovation used in a few European equity initial public offerings. We investigate pricing, seller allocation, and buyer welfare allocation efficiency and conclude that the book building emulation seems to be as price efficient as the Dutch auction, even after investor learning, whereas the competitive IPO is not price efficient, regardless of learning. Asset allocation requires allotting savings among many assets. The goal of investors is to minimize risk at a given returns or/and maximize returns at a specified risk. The aim of this paper is to compare two asset allocations, Black Litterman model (BLM) and Mean Variance Model (MVM). The data used are groundnut oil, palm oil and palm kernel oil. The data is used to estimate values of risk and returns using both asset allocations to estimate risk and return of the three assets. It is observed that BLM minimizes risk and maximizes the return of its portfolio better than MVM.

We introduce two systems of water trading, passive markets and active markets, and show that passive markets lead to efficient resource allocation with lower transaction costs. We demonstrate that both methods of tradin

Ongoing climate change will increase competition for water. Diversified demand for water-in contrast with the rigid design of water systems, institutions and infrastructure-could hinder the implementation of adaptation policies in water management for Latin American countries. In this context, weather derivatives are proposed as a complementary mechanism for the successful adoption of more efficient water allocations in irrigation districts. Weather derivatives spread risks and incorporate a better understanding of climate system behavior, strengthening irrigation districts¿ ability to deal wi

We present a model in which efficient long-term employment relationships are sustained by wage adjustments prompted by shocks to idiosyncratic productivity and the arrival of outside job offers. In accordance with casual and formal evidence, these wage adjustments occur only sporadically, due to the presence of renegotiation costs. The model is amenable to analytical solution and yields new insights into a number of labor market phenomena, including: (1) key features of the empirical distributions of changes in pay among job stayers; (2) a property of near-“memorylessness” in wage dynamics tha
